One of the most one sided Team of the Season squads you will likely ever see, with the Bundesliga looking set to be dominated by both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, much like the league table. Familiar faces and hyped up players are likely to feature prominently, with the likes of Davies, Wirtz, Musiala and Frimpong standing out.
Peter Gulacsi - GK - 82 > 92 OVR
If we are solely going from performances, the Bundesliga goalkeeper selection is actually a difficult call to make between both Gulacsi and Zentner. With a fan vote in place to decide the starting eleven, I feel that Gulacsi has a big edge. I would probably lean that way regardless. Gulacsi leads the Golden Glove race with an impressive thirteen clean sheets so far.
Alphonso Davies - LB - 82 > 95 OVR
With Davies likely doing enough to be nominated for the shortlist, I expect it to be a landslide in the voting process, with the Canadian being one of the most desirable LBs in the game. While he is not at the level we saw a few years back for Munich, there have been huge improvements in his game. Munich have the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 29 from their opening 29 matches. While Davies has not featured in all their games, with 19 appearances, I think there is enough of a percentage for the shortlist.
Dayot Upamecano - CB - 82 > 94 OVR
From one popular player to another now. Upamecano actually has very similar reasoning to Davies, with a comparable number of games played at twenty, contributing to that previously mentioned defensive record. Upamecano also dominates when it comes to the vote due to a very popular card in-game. I do think that Upamecano especially deserves to be included and would probably make EA’s side even without the vote.
Jonathan Tah - CB - 86 > 94 OVR
Tah is a player who goes under the radar. He is rarely mentioned when it comes to the best defenders out there, but he has been defensively brilliant for a long time in the Bundesliga. It has been another superb showing from the German throughout for Leverkusen. He has obtained the highest average Kicker rating for a defender, and with Leverkusen currently sitting on the joint second-best defensive record, it is a no-brainer inclusion.
Jeremie Frimpong - RB - 84 > 94 OVR
You may be starting to notice a trend here and let me tell you that this will continue throughout the prediction with both Munich and Leverkusen largely dominating this side. The main question mark surrounding Frimpong is what position EA will end up opting for. With arguments being made for both RM and RB it's difficult to say. I believe it should be RB and therefore, I am opting to include him in that position.
Jamal Musiala - CAM - 87 > 96 OVR
While I do like to stick to positions in general with these sides, I am happy to make the odd exception. With three central players basically guaranteed to be included in this side, I am happy to fit all three into the starting eleven. The first of that trio is Musiala. The German youngster continues to shine in the Bundesliga, and with twelve goals to his name for Munich, it’s no surprise that the hype remains around him.
Joshua Kimmich - CDM - 86 > 96 OVR
Kimmich missed out on a TOTS inclusion last season but looks set to return once again in FC 25. The German can play either as a CDM or RB and has occupied both positions on several occasions for Munich during the campaign. With more of his matches coming centrally, it is very likely that EA will opt for the CDM as his main role. Kimmich has recorded one goal and eight assists, while also helping Munich to the best defensive record in the division.
Florian Wirtz - CAM - 88 > 97 OVR
After the season Wirtz had last year, Leverkusen did superbly well to keep hold of the German talent. While his numbers were never likely to be matched this time around, Wirtz has still been one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season. With nine goals and ten assists, he has earned the best average Kicker rating for his performances. With eight different cards to his name before this one, Wirtz is one of the most frequently featured players in EA’s promotions.
Michael Olise - RM - 82 > 94 OVR
I think we all knew that Olise had a lot of potential from his time at Palace, but just how good he has been at Munich came as a bit of a surprise. The Frenchman has nailed down that right flank as his own for the German giants and regularly stands out for them. With eight goals and ten assists in the Bundesliga, it has been quite the debut season for him.
Patrik Schick - ST - 82 > 92 OVR
Although Schick has spent a lot of time on the Leverkusen bench, making eleven substitute appearances, the Czech international is the second-highest goalscorer this season with seventeen goals. I can’t see a scenario where he misses out. This side is dominated by the top two sides, but there is good reason for that, with a large gap between them and the chasing pack.
Harry Kane - ST - 90 > 97 OVR
Harry Kane has scored a remarkable number of goals for Munich since joining the club. He looks set to pick up back-to-back Golden Boots in the Bundesliga, with this season’s tally reading 23 from 27, putting him six goals ahead. Rumours have been circling about a possible return to the Premier League this summer, with Liverpool reportedly being the favourites to secure his signature. One thing is for sure, wherever Kane decides to go, he will score a lot of goals.
Substitutes
Piero Hincapie - CB - 82 > 91 OVR
Even on the bench its difficult to ignore the Munich/Leverkusen options. Hincapie has a very bright future ahead of him and at just 23 years old has developed into one of the best central defenders in the division. While Tah has probably been the more influential of the two both should realistically feature in this squad.
Granit Xhaka - CM - 86 > 93 OVR
Arsenal thought Xhaka was finished as a player, but the 32-year-old has not looked back since joining Leverkusen. The Swiss midfielder now looks set to receive Team of the Season inclusions for back-to-back seasons after another convincing campaign from the middle of the park, including two goals and seven assists. With so many Leverkusen players included here, there is a chance that some will miss out, but in terms of who deserves it, Xhaka should be here.
Paul Nebel - CAM - 71 > 90 OVR
Usually, there is a breakthrough player who ends up being included in TOTS. The Bundesliga option for that player seems likely to be Nebel. Mainz are having a superb season, currently sitting in third. The 22-year-old Nebel has played a key role in that success, currently on eight goals and three assists, alongside holding one of the highest average ratings in the division.
Jonathan Burkardt - ST - 76 > 93 OVR
There were a couple of strikers outside of the top sides who performed well. Burkardt is one of those, scoring fifteen times for Mainz, who currently sit in fifth position. I feel as though this position is between Burkardt and Kleindienst, but Mainz’s league position edges the decision for me.
SBC / Objective / Moments
Xavi Simons - CAM - 83 > 94 OVR
Xavi Simons is a popular player within the community and, for that reason, I feel that EA will opt to include him one way or another. While I do feel that he misses out on the main side, an SBC could be a route in for EA. Simons has still impressed with nine goals and five assists to his name, so it’s not as if EA would be plucking him out of thin air either.
Ritsu Doan - RM - 78 > 91 OVR
With so many Leverkusen and Munich players included, I expect the objective player to be from a club outside of the main two. Doan offers a route in while not giving everyone a player who goes straight into your main sides. The Japanese midfielder has impressed for Freiburg this season with eight goals and seven assists. Raum was the alternative option here, but with three Leipzig players already included, I opted to snub him.
Hugo Ekitike - ST - 76 > 93 OVR
With Frankfurt currently up in third position, I feel that they have to be included in this prediction one way or another. Obviously, Marmoush played a large role in their success, but his winter move to City means he is not an option. Ekitike has stepped up and become the main man since. With fourteen goals and five assists, his numbers are enough to be noticed, but I feel it could be as a moments inclusion due to the competition from other strikers for these positions.
