Over to the Frauen-Bundesliga now, and as you would expect it is dominated by Munich, which is not a bad thing as it makes it easier to mix players into hybrids. In terms of quality, this looks to be one of the more underwhelming TOTS sides, but there are still some gems to be found with Beerensteyn, Buhl and Reuteler standing out.
Ena Mahmutovic - GK - 77 > 91 OVR
A lot of the bigger sides' keepers in the Frauen Bundesliga have had very little to do, but with just twelve goals conceded and eight clean sheets to her name, it is difficult not to opt for Mahmutovic. In total, she has only made twenty-seven saves, however, it is a similar number to the other keepers with good defensive records, only Mahmutovic’s is better. I cannot see it going the way of a lower-end keeper due to the number of goals conceded.
Carolin Simon - LB - 81 > 92 OVR
Munich look set to claim yet another title this season, which in turn likely results in numerous TOTS inclusions. Simon is one who looks to be nailed on with that tremendous defensive record being supplemented by three goals and three assists. While I cannot make the full side Munich, Simon is one who should be locked in.
Glodis Viggosdottir - CB - 84 > 93 OVR
Viggosdottir is the player holding the backline together for Munich. She received a spot in TOTS last year and I expect the same to happen again this time around. Defensively brilliant while also chipping in with four attacking returns, it is difficult to exclude Viggosdottir from the prediction despite the number of Munich players already involved.
Lynn Wilms - RB - 76 > 90 OVR
The reasoning for Wilms is almost identical to that of Simon. Both players boast strong defensive records, with Wolfsburg’s slightly weaker at 16 goals conceded but still impressive overall. On the attacking side, Wilms also has three goals and three assists. Defenders were difficult to select for me as I very rarely watch this division, so the choices are based largely on statistics.
Lineth Beerensteyn - LW - 83 > 95 OVR
Since making the move from Juventus, Beerensteyn has not looked back. As it stands, she leads the golden boot race with seventeen goals from just nineteen appearances. She has led Wolfsburg to a competitive season, currently sitting in second place. Her pace is a constant threat for defences, while her finishing can be deadly, a good combination to have.
Laura Freigang - CAM - 83 > 94 OVR
While Freigang’s performances were especially strong during the first half of the season, she has, without a doubt done enough to receive a TOTS inclusion. The German has scored twelve goals while also providing five assists. Frankfurt look destined for Champions League qualification, and it is Freigang’s performances that have played a huge role in achieving that.
Georgia Stanway - CDM - 84 > 93 OVR
While Stanway's main duty is to protect the backline, due to how dominant Munich are, you will often find her contributing in attack. Both sides of her game are impressive, with it being another strong season for Stanway. While there are numerous CAMs fighting for a spot in this side, the defensive option is one above the rest, and that is Stanway. With eight goal contributions to her name alongside that aforementioned defensive record, she is a no-brainer, really.
Stanway sat out the back end of the season through injury, but with the numerous breaks since Christmas she has only missed 7 league matches.
Pernille Harder - CAM - 84 > 94 OVR
Munich’s main source of goals came from Harder this season, with the Danish midfielder scoring twelve. While she has played in both central attacking midfield and striker roles this season, Munich prefer to play her behind Schuller. Therefore, I feel she makes it as a central attacking midfielder. Either way, Harder will feature in this Team of the Season.
Klara Buhl - LM - 83 > 93 OVR
Buhl leads the way in terms of assists, five ahead of anyone else in the division with eleven to her name. Additionally, the German also has seven goals, putting any doubt about her position in this side to rest, having been directly involved in over a third of Munich’s goals this season.
Vanessa Fudalla - ST - 75 > 91 OVR
Fudalla has played all over the place for Leipzig this season but has consistently performed well. With ten goals and three assists, she has been a key part of Leipzig’s season. When you consider that Leipzig have only scored 30 and Fudalla is not always their striker, it is quite the achievement from her.
Alexandra Popp - ST - 87 > 94 OVR (Moments)
While Popp may not deserve to be in this prediction based on form alone, that is exactly what moments cards are for. With EA looking to promote this side, they will want to include some bigger name players, which this squad generally lacks. Popp presents an opportunity to do just that and I think it is a route they will take. With only six goals and three assists, her season has been rather underwhelming overall.
Geraldine Reuteler - CM - 80 > 92 OVR (Moments)
With Frankfurt likely to finish third at worst this season, I would expect a couple of the inclusions to go their way. Both seem pretty straightforward, with Reuteler being the second. The Swiss midfielder has scored nine times while also providing six assists. Whether she makes the side as a starter or as a moments inclusion is yet to be seen, but I would expect an inclusion one way or another.
