TOTW 12 brings numerous big names across the board, whether that’s Benzema’s quarter-final hat trick, Martinez scoring twice away from home, Foden denying a Leeds upset, or Diaz continuing Munich’s unbeaten streak. There are plenty of big names to look forward to this week.
Wladimiro Falcone - GK - 81 > 84 OVR
Five saves and penalty save / Lecce 2 - Torino 1 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
The goalkeeper selection will likely be a random inclusion this week, with there not being a standout option and EA continuing to opt for random divisions in this position. Falcone is the standout player among the top five divisions, however, having saved a penalty during Lecce’s 2-1 win over Torino, receiving a 7.5 from Gazzetta for doing so.
Odilon Kossounou - CB - 80 > 84 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Atalanta 2 - Fiorentina 0 / 7 Gazzetta Rating
The final couple of defensive options were difficult to fill this week, but there are a couple of reasonable punts to make. The first is Kossounou. The Ivorian scored one of Atalanta’s two goals as they secured a 2-0 win at home to Fiorentina. Although he was not named MOTM, he did receive the same match rating as the player who did.
Malick Thiaw - CB - 78 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Everton 1 - Newcastle 4 / 9 Sky Rating
Newcastle dominated on their travels to Goodison Park, with the hosts falling to a 4-1 defeat. Newcastle came quick out of the blocks, with Thiaw scoring his first goal for the club inside the first minute of the match. The central defender then doubled that tally, scoring Newcastle’s fourth of the match and securing MOTM with an impressive 9/10.
Kenny Tete - RB - 77 > 83 OVR
One goal / Tottenham 1 - Fulham 2 / 8 Sky Rating
Fulham came out the blocks quickly scoring two early goals against Tottenham, with Tete being one of those. They then held on to their lead despite Tottenham creating several big chances. Tete received an 8/10 for his performance which in the surprise win should be enough for him to sneak in.
Alberto Moleiro - LM - 79 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Real Sociedad 2 - Villarreal 3 / 9 Sofascore Rating
La Liga only really had a couple of candidates this week, thus making both likely to be included. Moleiro was pivotal for Villarreal as they battled their way to a 3-2 away win over Sociedad. Scoring twice, Moleiro guided that win and picked up MOTM in the process.
Kenan Yildiz - CAM - 79 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Juventus 2 - Cagliari 1 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Just five points separate the top seven in Serie A as it stands, with the title race lining up nicely early on. Juventus occupy that seventh spot after their 2-1 win at home to Cagliari. Their young talent Yildiz continues to impress, with his brace securing him yet another MOTM performance.
Phil Foden - CAM - 85 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Man City 3 - Leeds 2 / 9 Sky Rating
Scoring in both the first and last minutes of the game, a Foden brace helped keep the title chase close, with the Englishman’s second of the match securing all three points. It’s been a while since Foden had looked consistently strong, but with the World Cup soon approaching, his increase in form will come as a delight for numerous English fans.
Dani Olmo - CAM - 85 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Barcelona 3 - Alaves 1 / 9.5 Sofascore Rating
With Real Madrid dropping points for the third consecutive match, Barcelona are now the frontrunners in the division after their 3-1 home win over Alaves. Olmo scored two of those three goals, which looks set to secure his first promotional inclusion of the season.
Luis Diaz - LM - 85 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / Munich 3 - St. Pauli 1 / 2 Kicker Rating
Munich remain unbeaten at the start of the Bundesliga season after a 3-1 home win over St Pauli. Diaz scored once and assisted another during the three points. The Colombian already has two promotional inclusions but with just one being a TOTW, I can see a second going his way here.
Karim Benzema - ST - 85 > 86 OVR
Hat trick / Al Ittihad 4 - Al-Shabab 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
The cup inclusions continue to be highly inconsistent, but with the quarter-finals being played in Saudi this week, surely a Benzema hat trick will see the Frenchman included in TOTW 12. We continue to try and figure out the requirements for cup inclusions, but the trends don’t seem to be there as it stands.
Lautaro Martinez - ST - 88 > 89 OVR
Two goals / Pisa 0 - Inter 2 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Every point is crucial in Serie A currently with Inter in third, just one point off league leaders AC Milan. A Martinez brace secured a 2-0 away win over Pisa this weekend with the Argentine being awarded MOTM as a result, receiving a 7.5 from Gazzetta.

Substitutes
Mohammed Salisu - CB - 76 > 83 OVR
Clean sheet / Monaco 1 - PSG 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Monaco delivered PSG’s second loss of the season, securing a 1-0 win while also finishing the match with ten men. Salisu was named MOTM with an 8/10 and while defenders often get snubbed without an attacking return, with this being a big match I fully expect Salisu to be included.
Zlatko Tripic - RM - 76 > 83 OVR
One goal, two assists / Viking 5 - Valerenga 1 / 9.3 Sofascore Rating
The title race in Norway came down to the last week with Viking needing a win to secure their first title in 34 years. They didn’t disappoint, winning comfortably. Tripic was named MOTM after being involved in three goals with one of his own alongside two assists. We are yet to see what EA will do with title-winning sides this year but Tripic should be an easy selection regardless.
Inigo Vicente - LM - 75 > 83 OVR
One goal, three assists / Racing Club 4 - Eibar 0 / 9.9 Sofascore Rating
Although I usually snub this division outside of a hat trick, Inigo’s performance simply cannot be ignored. The Spaniard was involved in all four Racing Club goals, scoring one of his own alongside three assists. Racing Club look to be a dangerous side this season as they continue their early push for promotion.
Wouter Burger - CM - 73 > 86 OVR
One goal, one assist / Hoffenheim 3 - Augsburg 0 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Burger has been in superb form recently, with his latest performance only continuing that. Although there is only a four-week gap between potential IFs here, with Burger claiming Player of the Week in Germany, I can’t see him missing out.
Reece James - CDM - 81 > 84 OVR
One assist / Chelsea 1 - Arsenal 1 / 8 Sky Rating
With Chelsea going down to ten men midway through the first half, Arsenal were heavy favourites to win. Chelsea took the lead, however, and although they failed to claim all three points it was a crucial point to deny Arsenal from gaining a big lead at the top. James excelled throughout and was named MOTM as a result which, from CDM in such a big match, likely gets noticed.
Ella Toone - CAM - 85 > 86 OVR
One goal, three assists / England 8 - China 0 / 9.7 Sofascore Rating
I largely opted to ignore the international friendlies this week, but one game which simply cannot be snubbed is England’s 8-0 win over China. Both Stanway and Toone excelled, but with the former in the current promotion it makes the decision easy, with Toone’s goal and three assists making her an easy option.
Brian White - ST - 75 > 83 OVR
Two goals / San Diego 1 - Vancouver 3 / 8.6 Sofascore Rating
Although one MLS IF per week seems to be the general selection from EA, with both sides playing the final of their respective east/west play-offs I expect both winning sides to feature. White scored twice as Vancouver secured a 3-1 win to win the Western Conference.
Reserves
Taylor Harwood-Bellis - CB - 74 > 83 OVR
Two goals and clean sheet / Southampton 3 - Leicester 0 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Tadeo Allende - RW - 72 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Inter Miami 5 - New York City 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Jin Su Seo - RM - 65 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist Gimcheon 0 - Daejeon 3 / MOTM
Sambou Soumano - ST - 71 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Lorient 3 - Nice 1 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Joel Pohjanpalo - ST - 74 > 83 OVR
Three goals, one assist / Palermo 5 - Carrarese 0 / 10 Sofascore Rating
