TOTW 7 PREDICTIONS

All of those weekend league games, sweat and hard work is looking like it may be worthwhile this week, as these TOTW 7 predictions provide a whole heap of superstar names. If I am being honest, there are plenty more who could easily sneak into the mix, that have been left out of this 23 man shortlist, but with the limited space we have to work with, whatever the outcome, this is going to be the best TOTW we have seen so far this year!

Starting Eleven

Foster

Our first selection sees us heading to England, and where else but the Premier League. Watford were hosts to Huddersfield for their Saturday fixture, and in a game that provided 3 goals, each and every one of them went in favour of the hosts. Despite the result, it wasn’t completely one sided on the day, with Huddersfield providing a total of 13 shots. Foster however was in fine form, and his spectacular performance ensured the clean sheet.

Godin

Did somebody call for an absolutely ridiculous TOTW, because this is exactly what we are going to find amongst these predictions. We kick start the big names with one of the best defenders in the world. Atletico picked up the points during a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on the weekend, and with a clean sheet, a goal and even the man of the match award, Godin is the first superstar to stroll into this lineup.

Felipe

Over to Portugal next, where we find a dominant Porto continue their run of form, and remain at the top of the table. Porto were 2-0 winners over Feirense in their Liga Nos fixture, and with the lack of strong defensive candidates this week, the clean sheet and goal provided by Felipe, may just be enough to see him sneak his way into this incredible line-up.

Brenet

Over to Germany now, where Hoffenheim picked up an easy three points at home to Stuttgart. Now like with many high scoring games, there were plenty of nominations to choose from. Joelinton up top was great, scoring once and assisting another, while his attacking partner Belfodil was also incredible, scoring twice and only denied his hat-trick by the woodwork. Our nomination however goes with the fullback Brenet, who not only helped keep the clean sheet, but also provided a goal and an assist himself.

Pogba

I’m not gonna lie guys, this selection feels a little weak to me, and I’m not overly happy about including him. However, we all know that EA loves them a superstar, and the fact is that during Manchester United’s 2-1 over Everton, Pogba did play a part in both of the goals. With an assist and a goal from the spot, we see Pogba make this superstar line-up, but we need to ask the question, does he really deserve this?

Pato

With just four games remaining this season, if anybody from the Chinese Super League wants to get their hands on an inform, now is the time to act. Tianjin Quanjian were on the road to Guangzhou for their weekend fixture, and in a game that provided fans with 8 goals, 6 of them went in favour of the guests. Now most of us know just how dangerous Pato can be up top, but to play from the midfield, provide an assist and bag a hat-trick, there is simply no chance that he fails to make the cut this week.

Nani

With a serious chance of Ronaldo making the lineup this week, how could we possibly ignore another Portuguese superstar who could provide so much false hope and excitement when players see the flag drop? Sporting were comfortable 3-0 winners over Boavista during their late kick-off on Sunday, with Nani putting on a masterclass from start to finish. With 2 goals to his name, and a much needed 3 points for Sporting, let’s hope that we see this man with a brand new inform card this week.

Mane

As a Liverpool fan myself, this season brings me nothing but hope and positivity, especially during matches like the one we saw on the weekend. Liverpool played hosts to Cardiff for their weekend fixture, and while the Anfield clean sheets may have come to an end, seeing both Mane and Salah in such fine form makes it all worthwhile. Liverpool won the match 4-1, and while Salah provided a goal with two assists, the nomination goes to Mane, who scored twice and was simply fantastic on the day.

Aspas

Over to Spain next, where Celta Vigo absolutely obliterated Eibar in a 4-0 home win. Now there were plenty of incredible performances across the team, with assists from both fullbacks, a clean sheet, and even a goal plus an assist from Mendez. Aspas however cannot be overlooked, securing his hat-trick alongside a perfect match rating, will all but ensure we see his inform card hit packs later this week.

Suarez

We stay in Spain for this selection, and while this El Clasico may not have featured either Messi or Ronaldo, another superstar was more than happy to fill that void. Real Madrid’s shocking season took yet another turn for the worst on Sunday, as Barcelona absolutely annihilated them in a 5-1 masterclass at the Camp Nou. With Roberto picking up 2 assists and Alba picking up 1, it was going to take one hell of a performance for somebody else to make the cut, but Suarez was ready and raring to go, scoring not once, not twice, but three times, securing his hat-trick during the biggest match in modern day football.

Ronaldo

Now while I am not completely sold on this selection, and there is roughly a 50/50 chance that he makes the cut, we cannot argue that Ronaldo deserves a spot within these predictions. Usually 2 goals from a striker would give them a solid chance of an inform, but when Ronaldo is the man concerned, many are usually looking for more. Juventus were 2-1 winners away to Empoli in their Serie A fixture on Saturday, and with Ronaldo scoring twice, including one from the spot, will we be lucky enough to see him finally get an upgrade on his OTW card?

Substitutes and Reserves

Benitez

Onto the bench now, where once again we find ourselves with a goalkeeping selection to make. Nice were on the road this weekend, as they travelled to Bordeaux for their Ligue 1 fixture. The game itself provided fans with just a single goal, in favour of Nice, however if it wasn’t for Benitez, the game could have ended very differently. Bordeaux racked up a total of 26 shots, with 8 on target, and Benitez had an answer for each and everyone of them.

Mancini

Back across to Italy now, where Atalanta made easy work of the travelling Parma with a comfortable 3-0 victory. Now while i strongly believe we will find an inform from this match, deciding on who is where things become a little tricky. Ilicic was phenomenal throughout, however his lack of goals really puts me off. Palomino, one of the three center backs was also incredible, keeping the clean sheet and even providing a goal. However, the man we are going with, the superstar of the match, is a different defender, a defender by the name of Mancini. With a goal, an assist and the clean sheet too, this is the inform I expect to see when the line-up is announced on Wednesday.

Dumfries

The Eredivisie is our next stop, as we shoot across to Holland. PSV were on the road this weekend, as they travelled to FC Groningen in hopes of securing yet another 3 points. The match ended 2-1 in favour of the guests, however it wasn’t the usual suspects who were finding the back of the net. Dumfries played an incredible game from right-back, and while he may not have quite managed to wrap up the clean sheet, his goal and assist should be more than enough to see him secure an inform this week.

Haglund

Our next destination sees us taking a stop that we usually miss, as we head across to the Allsvenskan and Sweden. Sirius and Brommapojkarna went head to head in a 6 goal thriller on Sunday, and despite the visitors best efforts, it was Sirius who took all the points in a 4-2 victory. Haglund was simply outstanding throughout, dominating the game from the midfield, and securing his hat-trick along the way.

Henrique

Our next selection sees us heading across to Portugal, where Belenenses brushed aside a title pushing Benfica during a 2-0 victory. Now while I strongly believe that this man has earnt his spot, he is also making the list on a slight technicality. The goalkeeper, Muriel, was nothing short of magical on the day, keeping out a total of 24 shots and even saving a penalty. Muriel however isn’t currently in FUT, and hence our nomination falls upon Henrique, who was also incredible, played a part in both goals and deserves this inform.

Sarabia

There is only a certain amount of times that I can sit back and accept the fact that this man has once again failed to make the team of the week. With Sevilla edging out a 2-1 win over SD Huesca in the late Sunday kick-off, and Sarabia scoring both the goals, this will not be one of those times. His form across the season has been spectacular, and he is one of the key reasons that Sevilla sit just a couple of points away from league leaders Barcelona. The time has come, Sarabia deserves this card, let’s finally see it happen!

Oudin

Reims were on the road this weekend, as they travelled to Rennes for their Ligue 1 fixture on Sunday. The match itself was fairly one sided, with the hosts securing almost 70% possession and around double the shots. However, this is football, and we all know that goals are the only things that count. Oudin seems to have taken this on board, making the most of his chances and scoring twice to see Reims pick up a 2-0 win on the night.

Sharp

Back to England now, however we are no longer looking into the Premier League, but have instead dropped a division where we find a hat-trick from the Championship. Sheffield United and Wigan played out a 6 goal thriller on Saturday, and thanks to Sharp, the match finished 4-2 in favour of the hosts, Sheffield United. As we mentioned above, Sharp scored not once, not twice, but three goals on the day, securing his hat-trick, and with it a possible inform too.

Zardes

Keeping the variety alive this week as we head across to the MLS, and with the season coming to a close, it just felt wrong to not feature a single player. There were some fantastic performances across the matches, however the one that really stood out was Zardes. Columbus managed to edge out a 3-2 win over Minnesota United, and after putting the home side up 2-0, it was Zardes who finished the job in the 83rd minute, with their third goal, and his hat-trick.

Robak

While these predictions offer heaps upon heaps of superstars, we also visit a bunch of smaller league across the world, that are often ignored during these nominations. This trend continues as we head across to Poland for the match between Miedz Legnica and Slask. It was all one way traffic on the day, as Slask dominated across the 90 minutes and picked up an easy 5-0 win. Robak was in fine form, scoring twice, assisting a third and taking the man of the match award too.

Djaniny

We told you that we would be covering a magnitude of leagues this week, and the party hasn’t stopped yet! Over to the Saudi Pro league now, where Al Ahli made light work of Al-Fateh in a comfortable 5-1 victory on Thursday. Now usually it’s Al Somah that we see making the cut, however with 2 goals and an assist, this time it’s his attacking partner Djaniny who gets his time to shine.

Volland

Back across to Germany now, where we find a match between Werder Bremen and Leverkusen that provided spectators with a massive 8 goals across the 90 minutes. Sadly for the hosts, it was Leverkusen who were in the best form, finishing the match 6-2 and taking all 3 points along the way. There were several sensational performances across the team, however our nomination has to go with Volland. With 1 goal and 2 assists, he proved that he is the complete package, and has earnt his spot amongst the elite.
