UCL LIVE Renato Sanches

Every time you think you are out, they just keep dragging you back in.  FIFA 17’s OTW that never materialized, FIFA 18’s World Cup card that was never upgraded, and now FIFA 19 brings a new version of Renato Sanches that will finally live up to the hype.  While a single upgraded card is the only guarantee, I am still looking forward to the day that I actually receive an improved Renato Sanches card.  Based on my luck it wouldn’t surprise me if Sanches was loaned out in January just to end the dream early, but as Dr. Seuss once said, “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
It is not hard to fit the Bayern triangle of death you can create with CL Live Sanches, Boateng, and Kimmich into any team and from there your options are endless.  Every version of Renato Sanches I have ever used seems to be perfectly fashioned for FIFA dominance and this addition appears to be no different. Depending on the in-game circumstances I will cycle through a few different formations and often they expose different limitations of players in my squad. Unsurprisingly, playing as a CAM, CM, & CDM did not alter the effectiveness of CL Live Sanches in any way.  The application of an ENGINE chemistry style further facilitates this dominance and you only need to wind Sanches up, and set him loose on your opposition. Sanches was the wrecking ball in the following squad:

Pace

86 ACCELERATION & 86 SPRINT SPEED (ENGINE) is plenty of speed and it often feels like Sanches is effortlessly gliding around the pitch.  In closing down would be attackers he has the tenacity of a mountain lion and tears attackers down where they stand.  His flowing mane only amplifies your opponents fear as they realise their inevitable demise is imminent. On the ball Sanches is able to pull away from most in the midfield and this allows the time and space to pick passes or unleash laser beams towards the top bin.  I would not categorize Sanches as rapid, but he was able to stay a step ahead of the ever increasing pace in Weekend League squads.

Pace Rating: 8.7/10

Passing & Dribbling

The addition of the ENGINE chemistry style to CL Live Sanches has additional bonuses in both the passing and dribbling statistics.  From a passing perspective five assists is not a massive return for twenty games and given the fact that Sanches spent a great deal of time in the CAM position I would expect more.  There was one standout moment on the beautiful through ball to Mane in my video, but I did not see enough of this to warrant anything beyond the usual 7.5 rating.  For Sanches, that is where the average performances end and this guy was fantastic on the ball throughout the weekend.  The mixture of 97 BALANCE & 79 STRENGTH make taking the ball away from Sanches a difficult task.  Additionally, a compact player architype mixed with 83 AGILITY & 85 BALL CONTROL is the perfect recipe for responsive dribbling in tight areas.

Passing Rating: 7.5/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10

Shooting

Shooting is a category that Renato Sanches has always seemed to disregard.  I swear that this card could have all 60 rated shooting stats and he would still be banging them in for fun.  Of course he doesn’t have 60 rated shooting and as per usual he scored a fair few goals from the midfield this weekend.  4 STAR WEAK FOOT feels like a five and it does not matter which foot you let fly with.  92 SHOT POWER is the standout statistics while the rest seem average.  There is a common FUT Manager mentality about statistics and which levels are acceptable for each player.  If you are in this category the application of SNIPER on Sanches boosts ALL of his SHOOTING STATISTICS 80+ and even provides a +5 to that COMPOSURE statistics that seems to bother some managers as well.  Sanches is a lethal weapon from the midfield positions if you should choose to use him that way.  Yet, in the end Sanches is not perfect, he did miss some chances, and his 63 CURVE is probably the reason that I struggled to finesse goals with him this weekend.  But who needs finesse when goalkeepers cannot even see the ball as it rips by time into the top mesh?

Shooting Rating: 8.4/10

Defending and Physical

I do not feel these two categories require a ton of information.  Everyone knows by now that when you place Renato Sanches in your team you are unleashing a beast on the opposition.  I mentioned the pace that Sanches has off of the ball and this led to countless tackles and interceptions throughout the weekend.  90 STAMINA is the key here as Renato does not seem to tire and even at the 120th minute he is tracking down attackers and linking your defense to attack on the ball. Height is a “small” issue and 82 JUMPING further demonstrates the physical specimen you get when purchasing this card. Sanches was not in the CDM position for many minutes this weekend, but he was an unrelenting pest for my opponents when he was.

Defending Rating: 8.5/10
Physical Rating: 9/10

Final Score

Overall Rating: 8.7/10

There are different player options you can place in the midfield that are more defensive in nature, numerous that are bigger in stature, some are quicker, while others have a passing finesse that can unlock the bus that is parked in front of you; Renato Sanches does all of these things.  Most at a level that is comparable or better than the best.  It is no secret that you get the complete package with any Renato Sanches card, but what is unknown is how high this card will go.  I mentioned a January loan and I do not think this is happening at all, but you just never know.  Bayern could even capitulate and lose out of the Champions League in the knockout stage.  While these unknowns can and will affect the price of this card, they do not affect the fact that this card is already Weekend League ready in my opinion.  As I move through reviews I often rework my squad and much to my dismay CL Live Renato Sanches will not always be in my starting 11.  But even the thought of bringing this guy off of the bench makes me excited for what is to come with this card and an 83/84 rated Sanches is just a scary prospect altogether.  Cheers for reading.
