TIT WERNER

This early in the FIFA cycle I didn’t think a two goal performance would be quite enough for a third inform, but I was proven wrong as TIF Timo Werner arrived in this week’s installment of the TOTW.  While Aubameyang was intriguing, the price and similarities to his POTM card led me down the path of reviewing the Red Bull Leipzig talisman.  Just one look at this card and I knew I would not be touching the pace statistics with my chemistry boost and instead looked towards a shooting boost.  I was torn initially between SNIPER (a current favorite) and FINISHER and I eventually decided to try something new; FINISHER it would be.  In game I would swap formations and positions opting for the increasingly popular 4-2-3-1 narrow this weekend;  utilizing TIF Werner’s pace and shooting abilities up front as the lone striker.
A small disclaimer that the stats for this card are slightly misleading, in a good way.  While my tally shows 22 goals and 5 assists in 20 games, the state of the servers on Saturday was less than ideal.  I experienced slower game play which really hindered Werner’s output and furthermore I suffered two disconnects.   At one point I was at 15 goals in 9 games and I think that I could have continued a 1.5 – 2.0 goals a game ratio had the playing conditions been … playable.  Nonetheless, the speedy German was a Godsend this weekend and was the driving force in the following squad:

Pace

If 96 ACCELERATION & 96 SPRINT SPEED just don’t quite suit you fancy you could apply a cheeky HAWK chemistry style for the +3 boost to each category, but it is certainly not necessary.  This card is lightning fast and truly matches every card that I have previously used.  M’bappe has been the epitome of pace and using him in my first review has been incredibly useful.  I have been able to compare cards to how fluid his dribbling was at pace and TIF Werner matches, and maybe just exceeds this ridiculous level.  I want to leave room with my rating for the future, but it does not get much better than this.

Pace Rating: 9.7/10

Dribbling & Shooting

The dribbling stats on this card do not immediately jump out at you and after three informs you would expect that this card would crack 90+ Dribbling as a base statistics, but of course it does not.  3 STAR SKILLS are also not ideal and could be a deal breaker for some FUT Managers.  Pace does play a huge factor here and I found it assisted in getting defenders into vulnerable positions while 85 AGILITY & 80 BALANCE were just about enough to move the ball into shooting positions before they could react.  Still I think that the SNIPER boosts to dribbling might be a better option than the physical boosts that FINISHER afforded me.  In saying all of this, when you do get into the positions to shoot with this card it is normally lights out for your opponent.  4 STAR WEAK FOOT and 99 FINISHING & VOLLEYS make this card the executioner against opponents who are not consistently vigilant of his presence.  I had a lot of fun with this card all weekend and Werner’s shooting was key to my enjoyment.

Dribbling Rating: 8.5/10
Shooting Rating: 9.5/10

Passing, Defending & Physical

Once again it was a straightforward review for the passing on this card.  As I previously stated Werner was the forward ST in a 4-2-3-1 formation and therefore it was essential that his passes found their target or everything would break down. Werner was more than capable on the ball and made minimal mistakes.  Due to positioning defense was not an issue again so we move onto the physical statistics of Werner.  It has been a while since I have had a powerful ST in the air in my squad and it was nice to see some headed goals (in the run of play and corners) this weekend.  92 JUMPING is undoubtedly key to Werner’s air prowess and at 5’11 he is a force to be reckoned with.  I strongly feel that Werner’s body architype amplifies his 67 STRENGTH when protecting and battling for the ball.  Finally, 87 STAMINA is more than adequate for 90 to 120 minutes as a ST and not a concern at all.

Passing Rating: 7.5/10
Defending Rating: N/A
Physical Rating: 8.7/10

Final Score

Final Rating: 8.9/10

Similar to my review of Mo Salah I have settled on the not quite 9/10 rating for TIF Werner but it is about as close as it gets. While IF Salah and TIF Werner are different players with different strengths and weaknesses, they both are at levels just below the very top tier of available players at the moment.  Werner’s lighting quick pace, fantastic shooting, and air dominance all combine into a powerhouse addition to any squad.  The lightning rounds and SBCs connected with the TOTGS promo have also played their part in lowering the price of TIF Werner to a reasonable 300k.  This price feels about fair and if you are looking for goals in your squad I would recommend Werner 100%.  “Bundesliga OP” Managers rejoice, another savior is here.  Cheers for reading.
