Futties Promes

If you are anything like me than the monthly FUT Swap promo causes you an unnecessary amount of stress; both trying to collect as many cards as possible, and then ultimately “what should I trade them for.”  Having made both quality and ridiculous choices in the past few months I decided that the best I could do to help others in my similar predicament was to review one of the easily obtainable cards.  At least if Futties Quincy Promes is/was terrible you could judge your decision off of my review; likewise, if Promes was a solid addition to my squad you could take into consideration my review when making your choices.  It was nice that Promes was also an easy fit into my squad, and the team you see in the review is not the formation I played.  Again I went back to 4-2-3-1 and 4-2-2-2 this weekend and Promes featured as a ST and wide CAM in both cases.

Here is what the 4 FUT Swap man delivered:

Final Score

Final Rating: 9.4/10

I have changed this rating from a 9.4 to a 9.5 and back about 5 times now and I just can’t seem to settle on a comfortable choice.  Basically, the biggest issue I am facing is the comparison to Chucky Lozano and our review last weekend.  If you recall I gave the Mexican speedster a 9.4 rating based on his pace and finishing minus his balance and strength, equaling 21 goals and 5 assists in 20 games.  Promes is essentially a carbon copy of Lozano in every aspect … Lozano has a few additional statistics in different areas (including a +1 rating overall) … Promes has a 5 STAR WEAK FOOT and produced 22 goals and 10 assists in 20 games.  In any case, both of these speedsters are an excellent addition and bring pace and a goal threat. Overall, I just felt that Promes had more of a consistent presence in my matches and therefore might warrant a slightly higher rating … but to save the backlash, I will call it a draw.

Link-ability

Rating: 3.5/5

Getting a lot of this 3.5/5 rating lately, while the Dutch nationality gives Promes quite a few potential links it is still difficult to omit the Eredivisie as a league you seldom see in squads.  The odd FUT Manager will use a de Jong or a de Ligt, which of course offers an awesome link with Promes; but for the most part, they are non-existent at this point in the game.

End Game Strength & Value/Coins

EGS Rating: 5/5
V/C Rating: 5/5

I went for HAWK on this review, primarily for the 99 ACCELERATION & 99 SPRINT SPEED, but also I felt it matched well with this particular card.  I see that a large majority of FUT Managers have applied the MARKSMAN chemistry style, but when I compare the two you really do not give up a lot in the Shooting category with HAWK.  Additionally, the Dribbling boost that MARKSMAN offers was not needed, at least based on my 20 games with the Dutchman as he glides around the pitch just fine without it.  MARKSMAN does not add to the need for a BALANCE boost either and so I was quite satisfied with the results of my choice.  Much like Lozano this card definitely has a seat at the table of end game players and more so than Lozano it is his price tag that helps solidify his spot.  4 FUT Swap items … FOUR… and one is free … so THREE items for this beast is about as good of value as you are finding.  Even if you completed the FUT Swap player SBC’s, they are normally valued between 7-10k and therefore you could make the argument that this card cost me 30k.

Uniqueness

Rating: 3.5/5

I realize this review has been an extensive look at the “who is better” debate between Promes and Lozano.  While you could easily throw both into an instantly pace filled squad, I am going with the idea you might need/want to choose just one.  Like the endless, lengthy, monotonous and redundant Twitter debates about Messi and Ronaldo … you can’t really separate them.  However, in this category, I would just say that Lozano is more unique and therefore Promes drops a .5.

Good vs. Bad & Closing Words

G/B Rating: 5/5

A quick glance at my word count is letting me know that I have had a bit more to say than usual until now about this card... so let’s keep this one short and sweet.  The release of Futties Perišic is a good indication that EA does not plan to give away many freebies even at this stage in the cycle of the game.  However, Promes is about as close as you can get and he truly was a nice addition to my squad this past Weekend League.   While the likes of Futties Rashford would be on the level of ridiculous if you are like me and don’t have quite the time to get your hands on 14 items than I “promise” that you will not be disappointed if you pick up Quincy with 4 of your hard-earned FUT Swaps.  Cheers for reading.
