IF Dybala

TOTW4 had a little bit more to offer than the previous weekend and I found myself on the fence between two Argentinian magicians; 86 rated Alejandro Gomez and 89 rated Paulo Dybala.  Gomez has been an all-time favorite of mine, but after using the NIF Dybala in a couple of drafts I knew I had to give his shiny new inform a test drive.  The pace on this card already looked appealing at 87 ACCELERATION and 81 SPRINT SPEED, and from my draft experience I felt his existing pace was enough, so I went with the MARKSMAN chemistry style.  I realize that DEADEYE is the preferred option based on FUTBIN votes, but I just wanted the physical boost from MARKSMAN knowing the Argentine would be playing up top this past Weekend League.  I was hoping Dybala would deliver the same performances he has in my drafts in the following squad:

Overall

Rating: 8.5/10
Pace Rating: 8/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Shooting Rating: 9/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 7/10
Defending Rating: N/A

If you have been following along this is the best rating I have ended with a player in FIFA 20.  Rashford would also fall in this rating and at this point, I would just pick IF Dybala in my squad above Rashford based on results alone.  Dybala scored a ridiculous (for me) 42 goals in 20 Weekend League matches and added 5 helpers along the way.  The finishing on this card is amazing and surprisingly accurate on the right foot as well despite the 3 STAR RATING.  It is weird but Dybala seems to put a type of top spin on the ball and allows you to hit them with more venom than normal.  All in all this card was built to score goals and score goals he did all weekend.

Linkability

Rating: 3/5

Much like Havertz, you have a quality league and a good nation to work within this case.  The fact that Dybala’s nation does not match the country of his league does limit the options for links.  Additionally, there are not a ton of Argentina links that were viable for this squad either.  In the end, I had to settle for Matuidi (who is still quite effective) and not some of the other options like Allan I would have preferred.

Current Game Strength

Rating: 5/5

This game was built for players like Dybala and his touch tight dribbling opens a ton of space.  The first touch out of dribbling with this card is insane as well.  You add in the quality finishing that was mentioned before and you have the perfect weapon.  Maybe most impressive was the variety of quality finishes this card produced in just 20 games.  Left-footed rockets into the far corner, open up left foot finesse into the top corner, right-footed laser beams out of the keepers reach, 99+ rated volleys that rip the net apart, and even a right-footed dink chip.  This card is quality and a top-notch option at this point in the game.

Value/Coins

Rating: 5/5

If you look at the base stats of inform Dybala and search for players with minimum values matching his Pace, Shooting, Dribbling, and Passing you get a list that includes Messi, Neymar, and a bunch of quality ICONS.  In fact with Dybala’s price at 310k, the next closest option is Zola at 738k, just for comparison.  From that comparison alone the value for coins should be an easy 5/5 for this card, but it is hard to really look past how close Rashford is to Dybala’s quality… but a third of the price.  This card is class, but it will cost you.

Good vs. Bad

Good vs. Bad Rating: 5/5

Just the bad this time around because there is not much to add in the end.  This card gets dominated in the physical aspect of the game.  If you come in contact with a defender he is pushing you aside like a used napkin as you float off in the wind.  The dribbling can counter these collisions, but still an issue nonetheless.  Obviously you are not winning many headers with this card as well but this version of FIFA is not designed for crosses anyway; and maybe… just maybe, this card could use just a small pace injection in a dead sprint.  Other than that this card just offers pure quality all around.

Closing Words

If you haven’t gathered my opinion already… you need to find some room for this card in your squad if you can.  The price tag is a little high, but so is the level of output and quality.  This edition of FIFA suits this type of card to a tee.  My one major complaint is the lack of a dynamic image due to the whole Piemonte Calcio debacle; I realize a large portion of FUT Managers could care less, but those of us who do know exactly what I mean.  In closing, this card was a handful all weekend for my opponents and especially with smooth gameplay, this card can really dance around the pitch.  If you are looking for some creativity and goals this weekend I would highly recommend this addition to fill the net for you.  Cheers for reading.
