TOTW 10 Predictions

In terms of overall quality, this is potentially going to be one of the weaker sides we have seen this year. But there are still some big names to look forward to with De Bruyne, Griezmann and Coman all very likely to feature in TOTW 10.

Goalkeeper

Pacheco – GK - OVR 82>>86
Real Madrid dropped points once again this weekend with Aalves taking home all three points via a 2-1 away win. It could have easily been a different story though had it have not been for Pacheco. The Spaniard has been brilliant all season and this was no different, making a total of seven saves to ensure Aalves took the win. We could argue that it is too close to his previous IF but I am happy to take the punt on a four week difference.

Defenders

Ruben Aguilar – RB - OVR 78>>81
The Ligue 1 defenders just keep coming. Aguilar picked up an 8/10 this weekend, which as a defender practically confirms your spot in the side. He got the mention for an assist to go alongside a brilliant defensive display in Monaco’s 3-0 home win over Nimes. A result which takes them just two points behind leaders PSG, despite being in fourth position currently.

Alessio Romagnoli – CB - OVR 83>>85
The storyline choice could be about to get that much easier with Romagnoli in line for an IF this week, which although won’t be quite as good as the storyline option, it won’t be far off. I would have originally had Donnarumma as the choice but with a RB item currently in packs, I find that option unlikely. Romagnoli scored one of Milan’s two goals in their 2-0 win.

Dedryck Boyata – CB - OVR 77>>81
Many will be expecting Angelino to feature in this week’s prediction but after Kicker awarded him a 2.5 I find it highly unrealistic that he will make the cut. Instead, we opt for a different Bundesliga defender in Boyata. Hertha Berlin managed to take a point from Leverkusen this weekend with a 0-0 away draw. Boyata was fantastic defensively and as a result, he picked up MOTM with a 1.5 from kicker.

Midfielders

Karl Toko-Ekambi – LW - OVR 78>>81
Toko-Ekambi has already been robbed of an IF on a couple of occasions this year but once again stands a chance of getting the nod. Lyon managed a 3-0 win over Reims this weekend with Ekambi being involved in all three of those goals, with one of his own going alongside two assists. A performance which saw him claim the joint highest rating of the week with an 8/10.

Kevin De Bruyne – CAM - OVR 91>>92
Manchester City has been far from their best so far this season but a 5-0 win against Burnley this weekend could well be what they needed to kickstart it. Mahrez was obviously the player stealing all the headlines with three goals to his name but with the Algerian featuring in TOTW 8, it is highly unlikely that EA will opt for him. The next best option is KDB with two assists and an 8-match rating. With a lack of high-profile names, I would expect EA to opt for the Belgian to headline the side.

Florian Neuhaus – CM - OVR 79>>82
The Bundesliga looks set to pick up several IF’s this week with candidates appearing left right and center. Neuhaus is another likely to make the eventual cut, making it five selected this week. The Gladbach midfielder picked up both a goal and an assist as they recorded a 4-1 win over struggling Schalke.

Antoine Griezmann – LW - OVR 87>>88
Griezmann at Barcelona has not been half the player which he was at Atletico, which is largely down to the opportunities he has received. This weekend we saw glimpses of what the Frenchman has in his locker though with both a goal and an assist helping Barcelona towards a comfortable 4-0 win over Osasuna.

Fabian – CM - OVR 82>>84
This was a difficult shout with several players on paper doing more than Fabian but I just couldn’t ignore Napoli’s 4-0 win over Roma this weekend. Insigne was first choice but with him featuring in TOTW 8 it pretty much rules him out. Fabian is thus the next best option and with a lack of Serie A options, it could well happen.

Kingsley Coman – LM - OVR 84>>86
The LM options keep on coming with Coman likely to add to the array of options on Wednesday after picking up both a goal and an assist in Munich’s 3-1 win away at Stuttgart. Allowing the German champions to remain at the top of the table. Kicker awarded Coman with a 1.5 match rating.

Forwards

Wout Weghorst – ST - OVR 81>>84
There were very few strikers that stood out this week and thus Weghorst is likely to be the best option in terms of rating for the starting line-up, despite only being 81 rated as a base item. The Dutch striker claimed MOTM for his two goals in Wolfsburg’s 5-3 thriller with Werder Bremen.

Substitutes

Benoit Costil – GK - OVR 79>>82
PSG are now without a win in two after failing to close out another match, this time dropping points to Bordeaux in a 2-2 draw. PSG, however, would have taken home all three points had it not have been for the heroics of Costil. The French stopper made a total of seven saves to keep them in the game. A performance that saw L’equipe award him with an 8/10.

Samuel Gigot – CB - OVR 78>>81
There was a time when the RPL was a fun obscure league to play within FIFA with several top-end players, a little like the Chinese league of today. With limited options for EA in the division now it’s a forgotten division though. That said we are still likely to see a few IF’s occur over the year, one of which could easily be Gigot after he scored one of two Spartak goals in their 2-0 win.

Ellyes Skhiri – CM - OVR 77>>81
Koln managed to pick up their first win of the season this weekend against heavy favorites, Dortmund. Skhiri was the unlikely hero, scoring both their goals to help propel them out of the relegation zone with a vital three points.

Davy Klaasen – CM - OVR 77>>81
Last week we saw a huge snub for Ajax in Labyad who picked up two goals and an assist. This was largely down to match rating though with him failing to feature in the top 5 with a 7.5. This week it looks worse on paper with just one goal and one assist in Ajax’s 5-0 win this weekend, but the big difference is that VI awarded Klaasen a huge 8.5, making him player of the week. There is no way that he misses out here.

Christian Kuhlwetter – ST - OVR 66>>75
We have seen EA opt for a sixth non-gold option on a couple of occasions this year so far, so I am happy to predict it here, especially with so many options for the reserves. Kuhlwetter was named POTW after his three goals saw Heidenheim beat HSV 3-2, inflicting just their second defeat of the season so far.

Joelinton – ST - OVR 75>>81
Very little went on in the Premier League this weekend making it extremely difficult to select players for this side from the division. Especially with the likes of Cavani not being in-game and Neto being a silver item. Joelinton would usually be pushing it for a goal and an assist but EA will inevitably include at least three from the division and therefore we have to force a couple in. Joelinton was named MTOM for his goal and assist in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Palace.

Mama Samba Balde – ST - OVR 75>>81
Bottom placed Dijon picked up their first win od the season this weekend via a respectable 3-1 win over Nice. Balde was heavily involved in gaining the three points with two goals scored. L’equipe gave him an 8/10 and with limited gold options this week that should be enough for him.

Reserves

Dimitri Petratos – CAM - OVR 69>>77
The Saudi division has often seen some minor preference from EA when it comes to tight decisions and thus, I expect the same to occur again this week with Petratos. The Australian midfielder is on the fringe of TOTW 10 with a couple of other players. A hat trick from CAM is usually enough to make the cut but with so many brilliant performances from lower-end players, this week wouldn’t say he is nailed on.

Akihiro Ienaga – RW - OVR 72>>79
Midweek games are seemingly more reliable these days than they used to be with EA regularly including those players who deserve to be included from them. Ienaga should as a result walk into this side after he scored three times from RW during Kawasaki’s 5-0 win over Gamba Osaka In the J-League.

Mbaye Diagne – ST - OVR 74>>80
You may remember Diagne from FIFA 19 from which he had a 93 rated item. Times have been tough for him the past couple of seasons though and thus we have seen him drop to a silver base item. That being said he is now likely to pick up his first IF of the year after scoring three times during Galatasaray’s 4-0 win.

Philip Zinckernagel – RW - OVR 72>>79
There were two strong options from the Norwegian league this weekend but realistically only one will make the cut. I fully expect that player to be Zinckernagel and thus can see Bamba’s hat trick missing out. As for Zinckernagel, Bodo recorded a very impressive 5-1 win over Rosenborg with the winger claiming a goal and three assists. A performance which saw him claim a 9/10 match rating, which is a rare score in Norway.

Karim Adeyemi – ST - OVR 69>>77
Salzburg often records huge wins and this weekend saw another with the Austrian champions coming away with an 8-2 win over Polten. Despite the match seeing two hat tricks I am instead opting for Adeyemi with a goal and three assists. This is due to Szoboszlai recently featuring in a side and Koita not being in the game. Despite that it was still actually Adeyemi who picked up MOTM, it just made the decision that much easier.
