RTTF Aubameyang Review

If you are coming into this review wondering “what is MaeNine getting on with going back to a RTTF Aubameyang review?” then you need to bear with me while I explain.  For the past 6-8 weeks, my club has been in a financial crisis.  My pack luck has been nothing short of abysmal during rewards and in general, I have lost 100 - 300k per review.  While I grind trading when given the chance… time just has not been on my side.  Enter this review.  This review is not really for RTTF Aubameyang… I actually wanted to look at IF Aubameyang and if you compare the two they are quite close statistically. However, in this case, I was able to buy RTTF Aubameyang after their Europa League match for 1 million coins, with the hopes that this Thursday I can make additional coins in the hype of the second leg.  I should note that I was able to test the real IF Aubameyang to confirm that there was no drop off to this version and honestly noticed zero difference.  Truthfully, I wanted to try Auba in general because for me he has been a forgotten card this FIFA since his 87 just seemed well short of what should have been dominant statistics early in the FUT cycle.  But this patch seems to have affected a lot of cards differently and I wanted to dive back in and see if Auba better demonstrated some of the key attributes that should make him a FUT standout.  This weekend I went with the 4-2-2-2 formation yet again, which allowed Aubameyang to apply his trade as a ST and right CAM with the assistance of the DEADEYE chemistry style.  In the end, Aubameyang was the masked assassin all weekend in the following squad:

Starting Formation:

In-game Formation:

Overall

Rating: 9/10
Pace Rating: 9.5/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Shooting Rating: 10/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 8.5/10
Defending Rating: N/A

This right here is the card I think we thought we were getting back at the start of FIFA 21.  Within two matches I called it when speaking with my mate about this review.  I said, “this card is cracked and I bet he scores a ton of goals early on and then levels out as the weekend gets more difficult.” Truer words were never spoken.  I am happy to report that the 22 goals and 12 assists in 20 matches was not a one off.. as Aubameyang was trusted to finish off the weekend scoring 32 goals and 17 assists in 30 matches.  I would say that a goal a game in the Drop Back Danny age of FIFA represents a quality card and more importantly he was able to chip in assists as well for an above 1.5 goal involvement return.

Main Attribute – Shooting

Shooting Rating: 9.5/10
Weak Foot: * * * *
Traits: Outside Foot, Finesse Shot

There is a decent list of players that possess both the OUTSIDE FOOT and FINESSE SHOT traits, but I can say without hesitation that Aubameyang could easily do without the OUTSIDE FOOT specialty.  This card feels like it 100% has a FIVE STAR WEAK FOOT and was superior to some of the five star players I have reviewed.  Normally I place the clips in my videos in chronological order from the start to finish of the weekend… and the first goal in the second match let me know straight away that this lad was fantastic on his left.  Then you add in the FINESSE SHOT trait to both feet and you truly have a player that can be dangerous from just about anywhere.  It is not a huge surprise given the DEADEYE chemistry style boosts Auba to 99 POSITIONING, FINISHING & SHOT POWER… while also bolstering the 85 LONG SHOTS.  All in all, I loved the clinical nature of this card and the reward for hard work creating chances is always going to make a card stand out when undergoing a review.

Main Attribute – Height/Body Type

Height: 187cm | 6’2
Body Type: Unique
Pace: 9.5/10
Dribbling: 9/10

This card is built differently...  no literally this card has a unique build to others in the game.  While in the past it seemed to be a hindrance to the performance of 87 Aubameyang… post patch I can say that this card felt anything but held back by his stature and size.  The 93 ACCELERATION & 96 SPRINT SPEED felt bolstered by the gazelle-like strides of Aubameyang’s running style… while the worrisome 81 AGILITY & 71 BALANCE still felt responsive despite his size.  The 4 STAR SKILLS offer additional options when dancing Auba into enemy territory and even with 76 STRENGTH I still felt like keeping the ball was not as big of an issue as you might expect.  Granted there were times when I wished I could have rounded a corner around defenders just that half second faster… or been stronger against a challenge, but it is moments like these that ultimately held Aubameyang back from a 9.5/10 rating overall.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 5/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 4.5/5

This is where I want to address the IF 88 Aubameyang over the 89 RTTF.  For 434k I think this card is a very nice option to work towards or fill in for those slightly older options in your squad that are starting to fall off the pace.  As I stated earlier I wanted to make sure that this review was able to cover both options and got my hands on IF Aubameyang for a five match spell and noticed zero differences.  In fact, if this review was only about the RTTF I would say that 1.1 million is actually too high for this card and more appropriate for the  future upgrade should the Gunners win on Thursday.  But I digress… honestly the IF 88 Aubameyang feels like it is slightly underpriced and has an excellent upside that you might have overlooked.

With the DEADEYE chemistry style, this card gets a much much needed boost to the SHORT PASSING stats and actually turned into a quality provider throughout the weekend.  While the 65/67 LONG PASSING on both cards is abysmal there are not many times that strikers are in need of hitting those passes and I really did not notice any affected occasions.  Really the main weaknesses with this card come in the Physical statistics.  As you can tell in the video I shifted Aubameyang to the wings (CAM) in my 4-2-2-2 formation late in matches… and I actually think I would have preferred Auba there for the entire second half… but the 82 STAMINA simply omits those opportunities.  Aubameyang would never serve the demand of the up and down the pitch running, which limits the cards possible positions in my mind. As mentioned the 76 STRENGTH was not 100% effective even with a taller player and the 44 AGGRESSION did not do much for the countless on the ball battles that facing a drop back opponent will create.

Closing Words

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang… one of the biggest personalities of football and an all-time FUT favorite.  Seeing cards that were once weapons in FUT fall away is always a sad reminder of games past that were simply better.  However, I am happy to announce that this card is well and truly back for the time being.  If you had asked me last Thursday, “should I buy a version of Auba for my squad” it would have been a flat out no for me.  In fact, my mate is a huge Gooner and in the past, I have mocked his persistence with Aubameyang in his squad.  But I definitely have to swallow my pride on this one and say that it is by far not the worst option anymore… and in fact the 88 IF feels really solid and definitely a mid priced beast for those that cannot afford million coins strikers.  Hoping everyone is doing well and getting through this.  All the best. Cheers for reading.
