TOTW 8 Predictions

After a few TOTW’s with a lot of fodder and one or two big names, we have a very strong side potentially with at least five players you would be happy to pack. It’s definitely a side for you to get hyped up about with Neymar, Goretzka and Kroos leading the way!

Goalkeeper

Yann Sommer – GK - OVR 85>>86
There was a couple of strong keeper shouts with both Neuer and Sommer both claiming retrospective MOTM awards but Sommer has to be the man who makes it after an impressive 1.5 match rating from Kicker. The Swiss international made a total of seven saves to salvage a point for Gladbach during a 1-1 draw against Mains away from home.

Defenders

Jonathan Clauss – RWB - OVR 77>>84
Clauss stormed onto the scene in Ligue 1 last season, standing out as the best RB in the division by quite some distance. Although Hakimi will inevitably take that title this year, Clauss continues to excel. Lens ran away with a 4-0 win over Troyes this weekend from which the wingback was involved in three of the four goals. With a goal and two assists to his name, L’equipe went on to award him an 8/10, making him a certainty for this side. Although the featured player last week was also a RB, I expect Clauss to also pick up the feature with the Frenchman being the best fit by far.

Marcos Acuna – LB - OVR 84>>86
Acuna is best known in the FIFA community for his showdown SBC card during last year's edition of the game and although we are unlikely to see another Acuna as good as that he is still an interesting option in FIFA, especially if you move IG. The Argentine looks set to receive an IF after scoring once and helping towards a clean sheet as Sevilla recorded a 2-0 away win over Real Betis on Sunday

Joao Cancelo – LB - OVR 86>>87
After being a victim of Pep roulette for large periods of his time at City Cancelo has seemingly nailed on the wingback role, playing in the vast majority of City matches. His performances have been fantastic and it is clear to see why Pep is remaining loyal to the Portuguese fullback. Manchester City made the Derby look easy this weekend, dominating United with a 2-0 win from which anyone who watched the game would have seen just how easy it was for them. Cancelo caused the OG, assisted Silva’s goal and went on to be named MOTM with a 9/10. An easy selection for this week

Midfielders

Neymar – LW - OVR 91>>92
Both Neymar and Mbappe received an 8/10 from L’equipe this weekend but I feel as though it is Neymar who is the more likely to go on to feature in TOTW after he scored twice from the wing during PSG’s hard fought 3-2 away win over Bordeaux. A result that leaves them 10 points clear at the top of the table already. It looks to be curtains in the division just 13 games in.

Toni Kroos – CM - OVR 88>>89
If you can somehow overlook the abundance of pace on Kroos his FIFA card is actually a fun one to play with, it's difficult to do in the current meta though. An IF looks to be on the way for the German after he scored one of Madrid’s two during a 2-1 win over Vallecano this weekend. Kroos also made a goal line clearance and went on to be named MOTM for his performance.

Leon Goretzka – CM - OVR 87>>88
Last week was very difficult for Bundesliga inclusions and I took a hit for not forcing players in, this week there were a couple of easy selections but I feel like a third will be there if not more and thus I have opted for Goretzka. Neuer was named MOTM during a 2-1 win over Freiburg but Sommer will inevitably be included as the keeper. Goretzka was also a strong shout though, scoring once and also picking up a 2-match rating. I doubt many will complain about this inclusion with the German becoming one of the best CM’s available in the game.

Everton – LW - OVR 80>>83
There were a few options from the Portuguese league this week but if EA are to continue with 1 per league for these sorts of divisions, then Benfica are likely to be the side awarded the IF after their 6-1 win over Braga. Everton seems the most likely after managing both two goals and two assists from what looks to be a LW position.

Pedro – LW - OVR 78>>82
Serie A was by far the hardest division to predict for with practically no options standing out. There will of course be at least a couple included though and Lazio look to be a side deserving of one. Pedro although receiving a flashback earlier in the year should realistically be the player awarded one after scoring once and assisting another during their 3-0 win over Salernitana

Forwards

Iago Aspas – ST - OVR 84>>86
Barcelona looked to be playing their best football in the early stages of their match against Celta Vigo, going three goals up in just the 34th minute. The second half was a different story however, Aspas pulled one back in the 52nd minute before Nolito then made it interesting in the 74th. Aspas then doubled his tally and ensured Vigo came away with a point via a 95th minute equaliser, piling more misery onto Barcelona. Hopefully, the Xavi era will see improvement.

Christopher Nkunku – ST - OVR 81>>86
Nkunku is currently one of the most IF players in Europe and his ability is clear to see. At just 23 years of age his limit is the sky. Every week he seems to be performing and his latest performance against Dortmund was another worth shouting about. Leipzig came away with a 2-1 win, with the Frenchman scoring once and assisting the other before going on to win Kickers POTW with a perfect 1 match rating.

Substitutes

Tim Krul – CB - OVR 77>>81
The goalkeeper situation seemed quite straightforward for once this week with Sommer and Krul being the two candidates which stood out, of the gold options anyway. Norwich recorded their first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Brentford. After going two goals up they had to hold on though and Krul made sure they did, making a total of six saves to deny a Brentford comeback, going on to be named MOTM with an 8/10 match rating.

Mattia Caldara – CB - OVR 76>>81
Venezia put a few points distance between themselves and the relegation zone this weekend, with a shock 3-2 home win over Jose Mourinho’s Roma. Caladara was named MOTM after scoring the opener and was awarded an impressive 8/10 from Gazzetta for his performance.

Pablo Fornals – CAM - OVR 79>>82
We all knew that West Ham were doing well this season but I don’t think they were ever taken too seriously until now. After ending an impressive Liverpool unbeaten record, with a 3-2 win they have now overtaken them and gone into third place. Just how far West Ham will go is yet to be seen but a Champions League finish has to be seriously taken now. A WH IF is practically inevitable here and with Fornals being named MOTM for his goal and causing the Alisson OG he looks to be the favourite for it.

Adrien Truffert – LM - OVR 75>>81
I slipped up on Atal earlier in the year due to him being a sub and thus L’equipe not rating him and I don’t want to make the same mistake again, thus Truffert makes the side. Rennes ran away as 4-1 winners in a shock result against Lyon. Several players are considered candidates for this side but Trufferts late two goals to secure the three points is who I am opting for despite not having a L’equipe rating.

Bruma – LW - OVR 76>>81
Eredivisie has been snubbed on a regular basis for some reason as of late and once again they could be classed as fringe for TOTW. That is after their POTW, Sangare is featured in the current promotion. Bruma is another strong PSV option however, after scoring twice for them in a 4-1 away win over Fortuna.

Julian Alvarez – ST - OVR 75>>84
I was originally under the impression that these cards could not receive an IF but after Alvarez already had one to his name its now obvious that they can. The next question is the week gap and although EA seems set on at least four weeks currently with Alvarez scoring four goals I can see an exception being made, just like we saw in the Eredivisie last year. River Plate went on to win their match 5-0 with Alvarez being the star man.

Cristhian Stuani – ST - OVR 76>>81
Stuani is one of those players who always manages to pick up a few IF’s over the course of a FIFA. TOTW 8 looks set to be the week of which his first occurs in after scoring all three of Girona’s goals during a 3-1 win over bottom of the table, Alcorcon.

Reserves

Ryuta Koike – RB - OVR 68>>77
One of the most convincing results of the weekend came over in the J-League where Yokohama managed an 8-0 win at home to Toyko. A couple of obvious IF candidates appeared with Koike and Maeda and although the latter scored three goals, I find it very difficult to ignore a defender with two goals, an assist and a clean sheet. Either player would make an amazing silver star and EA couple go on to include the other as exactly that but it’s Koike who I have to go within terms of predicting.

Massimo Coda – CB - OVR 72>>79
The first of four hat tricks I have predicted from the reserves section this week is Coda, Serie B rarely obtain IF’s but when they do it’s usually due to a hat trick. Coda scored three of four Leece goals as they continue to chase down Brescia at the top of the Serie B table.

Mikael Biron – ST - OVR 67>>76
Heading over to Ligue 2 now where bottom of the table Nancy, picked up just their second win of the season from the 12 games they have played thus far. Biron was the hero after scoring all three of their goals as they went on to beat Chamois 3-1 away from home.

Moses Mawa – ST - OVR 64>>74
EA are continuing to push their silver inclusion this year after awarding three silver players IFs last week. This week has far less options for them to do so but I do expect at least one to feature and thus Mawa who scored a hat trick for Kristiansund should be walking into this side.

Victor Davila – ST - OVR 68>>77
Thankfully the reserves section this week was a lot less forgiving. Yes, there are still multiple hat tricks but not to the extent of having to choose which six to leave out. That makes it much more likely that the ones I have selected will end up being included by EA. The final inclusion goes the way of Davilla who scored all three of Club Leon’s goals during their 3-0 win over Necaxa
