Team Of The Week 15 Predictions | TOTW

Although there are a few strong options this week as a whole it looks set to be a very underwhelming side with a lot of fodder so to speak. There are a few OTW contenders though with Lukaku, Kluivert and Dumfries all making the prediction and a fourth in Hakimi is also possible!

Goalkeeper

Alban Lafont – CB - OVR 78>>84
There were only really two gold goalkeeper options this week, the first of which is Lafont. The former future star still continues to progress at a steady pace in France, although at Nantes it is difficult to seriously stand out. He was named keeper of the week in France with a 7/10 for making six saves in total during Nantes 1-0 win

Defenders

Adrien Tameze – CB - OVR 75>>84
The featured IF this week was very difficult to select with no stand out option being present in terms of usable IF’s. Tameze is the best of a bad bunch with a respectable card and some good links to boost. He gets the IF prediction after being a rock at the back for Verona during their 1-1 draw with Fiorentina. Gazzetta awarded him a strong 7.5 match rating which I feel will stand out.

Aymeric Laporte – CB - OVR 86>>87
With Manchester City playing out a nine-goal thriller with Leicester this weekend I find it difficult to ignore, With Sterling, Mahrez and De Bruyne the best three options, all of which cannot feature this week it is difficult though. Despite conceding three goals I don’t think there is another option outside of Laporte. The Spaniard scored once and won a penalty of which Sterling converted. Realistically if EA is going to include someone from City it simply has to be Laporte this week.

Denzel Dumfries – RB - OVR 82>>84
The Inter Milan IF decision by EA last week was a strange one with Dumfries being snubbed for Martinez for no clear reason. The Dutchman is in line for an IF once again this weekend after scoring the only goal of the game against Torino. It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride for Dumfries OTW owners as of late but after another 7 from Gazzetta and no competition for positions this week he should definitely be included in TOTW 15

Midfielders

Oscar – LM - OVR 82>>84
There are many opinions surrounding the Oscar scenario with the Brazilian openly admitting he chose money over footballing future with his move to China but one thing for sure and that is that Oscar is a very talented footballer. He continues to excel in the CSL so as long as he's performing to the best of his ability I don’t see why there should be an issue. Unfortunately, the IF is likely to be as a LM but after both a goal and an assist Oscar is very likely to be included in TOTW 15.

Franck Yannick Kessie – CM - OVR 84>>86
With a lot of low scoring Serie A matches this weekend, AC Milan looks to be an obvious shout for picking up an IF after a 4-2 away win over Empoli, Both Hernandez and Florenzi scored from the back but I would expect Kessie to be the man awarded the upgrade after the Ivorian scored twice from the middle of the park to pick up a 7.5 match rating from Gazzetta.

James Ward-Prowse – CM - OVR 81>>84
Ward-Prowse has been on the fringe of greatness at times in his career and has been overlooked in the conversation of English midfielders on a reoccurring basis. When he's at his best he can control games with ease alongside producing moments of magic. A goal and an assist this weekend saw JWP help Southampton to a strong 3-2 win over the inform West Ham and with a lack of fixtures, I would be surprised to see any Premier League fixture go unnoticed.

Bukayo Saka – RM - OVR 80>>86
Arteta is in the dream situation currently with all of his players performing to the best of their ability, especially in midfield with Saka, ESR, Martinelli and Odegaard all putting in impressive shifts, leaving a managerial headache. Saka was the star from a 5-0 win over Norwich though, scoring two of the five and being awarded a 9/10 as a result.

Antony – RW - OVR 79>>82
Not many players will want to pay big coins for an Eredivisie option but that has been the case for both Neres and Antony’s recent special items. A cheaper alternative to the TOTGS option could be just around the corner however with Antony looking likely to receive an IF on Wednesday. That is after he was named MOTM for his goal and assist during Ajax’s 5-0 win.

Forwards

Karim Benzema – ST - OVR 89>>91
With both Benzema’s POTM and flashback cards being a while back now I can’t see any reason as to why he can’t receive another IF now, despite it all but making his POTM worthless. The Frenchman scored twice on Wednesday against Bilbao, the first of which was a magnificent strike during a 2-1 win. With only four games being played in the Spanish division I can’t see who else would be picking up the IF’s from the league this week.

Romelu Lukaku – ST - OVR 88>>89
An early scare for Chelsea, falling behind to Aston Villa was soon overcome with goals from Lukaku and Jorgino helped them secure a 3-1 away win. Although Jorgino scored twice, both were from the spot and thus alongside Lukaku being named MOTM his goal and won penalty could be enough to see the Belgian sneak in. OTW investors please be careful on this one though.

Substitutes

Lukasz Skorupski – GK - OVR 75>>81
Both Skorupski and Serie A have been snubbed when it comes to goalkeeping options time and time again but one time EA simply has to recognise the amazing job Skorupski is doing for Bologna. Although the Italian outlet recorded a 3-0 win it would have been significantly tighter had it not have been for the Pole. Skorupski was named MOTM with a 7.5 for making a total of five saves.

Ronald Araujo – RB - OVR 77>>81
It’s difficult to tell just how much of an impact Xavi is going to have at Barcelona but with Barcelona now having lost just one in eight league games and an influx of youth being opted for there have to be some positives to take. The club legend’s trust in the youngsters is already seeing some talents emerge. Araujo is 22 but still is somewhat breaking through for the club. The Uruguayan scored their goal during a 1-1 draw with Sevilla midweek and thus could be in line for an IF on Wednesday.

Daniel Munoz – RB - OVR 76>>81
There were a couple of options from Genk’s 4=- away win over Oostende with the regular performer of Ito grabbing a goal and an assist from RW while Hrosovsky also managed one of each from CM. In the end, we are opting for Munoz though, of whom once again managed a goal and an assist but this time from RB. With Munoz being gold as well I would ultimately be shocked if it was not him that picked up the IF.

Justin Kluivert – LM - OVR 76>>81
A Christmas surprise could be just around the corner for those who completed the Kluivert OTW card early into FIFA. With L’equipe awarding the youngster an 8/10 which alongside Savanier was the highest score of the week. Although it is still only one goal on paper, I feel that the Dutchman has a good chance considering the lack of options available to us this week.

Scott Twine – LW - OVR 65>>81
It seems a bit silly giving an MK Dons player an 81 rated IF, especially when you consider he started as a 65 rare silver but that is how TOTW works at the end of the day and thus Twines initial IF helps him out for the selection process this week as he now classes as a gold. His brace for the Dons helped them towards a 3-2 away win over Lincoln.

Stephy Mavididi – LM - OVR 76>>81
Savanier was the stand out player yet again for Montpellier and is inevitably going to be there the next Ligue 1 player of the month going from current form but with a recent IF to his name he can’t feature this week. Cozza was another option but with an SBC this weekend I can’t see him either. That leaves us with Mavididi who although failed to feature in L’equipe’s TOTW still recorded a goal and an assist. It is often the case that EA goes down the pecking order when a player can’t feature from the side and thus, I feel that Mavididi is a strong contender.

Boulaye Dia – ST - OVR 77>>81
Villarreal is starting to pick up some real form with a 5-2 win over Deportivo making it three consecutive wins for the Spanish outlet, helping them to rise up to 9th in the table. Moreno was named MOTM for his brace but with the Spaniard being included in TOTW 14 we have to look elsewhere. Parejo is another option with two assists from CM but logistically speaking Dia seems to be the safe bet with the forward recording two goals and one assist.

Reserves

Emiliano Viviano – GK - OVR 72>>79
Although Viviano conceded during a 1-1 draw with Fenerbahçe on Tuesday you seriously don’t get better goalkeeping performances than what we witnessed from Viviano. Karagumruk took the lead in the first half before being reduced to ten men and then nine in only the 38th minute. Ozil dispatched the resulting penalty but then it became the Viviano show with the Italian making a total of thirteen! Saves in order to ensure his side came away with a point.

Rasmus Nicolaisen – CB - OVR 66>>75
With literally zero hat tricks to talk about in the reserves section this week it becomes a difficult place to predict. Instead of the usual strikers, we actually have a lot of defensive options. One of those is Nicolaisen of whom managed both a goal and an assist for Toulouse during a 2-1 away win over Nimes

Sorba Thomas – RWB - OVR 64>>74
A third defensive option now, potentially for the first time in prediction history for myself which if anything shows how difficult to predict this side was. Huddersfield was one of only 3 Championship games to go ahead and ended up narrowly coming out on top 3-2 against Blackpool. Thomas was the man of the moment though scoring two late goals to turn things around from what I would class as a RWB role.

Knowledge Musona – CM - OVR 70>>78
Musona would make a very strong silver star option but with EA often exploring different routes with that feature it is safer to predict Musona as an outright IF. The Zimbabwe midfielder scored twice Al Tai as they recorded a 3-1 win over Al-Faisaly in the Saudi League.

Ryan Loft – ST - OVR 62>>72
Bizarrely I could have actually ignored strikers entirely in the reserves section however I find that to be unrealistic and thus I have included Loft. EA has seemingly been less forceful in including silver IF’s the past month or so but with a couple of strong contenders this week we could easily see a couple more. Loft gets the nod for scoring twice and assisting another as Scunthorpe went on to record a 3-1 away win over Oldham.
