FIFA 23 Serie A Rating Predictions

Serie A is a lot more spread out than other divisions with no one side dominating the ratings. There are a few big risers that narrowly miss out on this prediction with both Leao and Tonali expecting big increases while multiple other 83 rated players also miss out on the top 23. For those that do make the cut we see huge increases on Vlahovic, Tomori and Bastoni while most the AC Milan and Inter squads steadily rise.

23rd. Dusan Vlahovic, 83 rating (+5), Juventus

It's no surprise to see Vlahovic shoot up the ratings after a breakthrough season saw him score goals at both Fiorentina and Juventus for fun last season, managing 24 goals across the two clubs. There are several other high risers with both Tonali and Leao likely to see plus 5 too. They fall just outside the top 23 though due to their ratings being lower last season. Vlahovic cost Juventus a big fee but he is already justifying their decision

22nd. Fiyako Tomori, 83 rating (+4), AC Milan

Another big riser comes with Tomori. Not only is he likely to receive a big upgrade but as a result he will become one of the best starter CB’s in the game so expect to see Tomori a lot over the course of FIFA 23. Both Milan sides excelled during the 2021/2 campaign and thus a lot of their players are in line for an upgrade. Tomori has been floating around the England set up recently but really should be nailed on, for the squad at the very least.

21st. Georginio Wijnaldum, 83 rating (-1), Roma

After a very average season at PSG for Wijnaldum the French champions have opted to loan him out for the new season. Roma, who have signed very well this summer is the Dutchman's new club but even with the transfer it is unlikely that Wijnaldum will avoid a small drop in rating for the next edition of the game

20th. Juan Cuadrado, 84 rating (+1), Juventus

Cuadrado is well developed as a defender now having played the role for the past few seasons, especially with the game adjusting to more attacking fullback roles it allows players like Cuadrado to excel. Despite his age he has steadily increased rating each year from defence and once again I expect a small upgrade for him

19th. Domenico Berardi, 84 rating (+2), Sassuolo

Berardi has been the main man for Sassuolo for quite some time now, recording impressive stats season after season. He outdid himself in the 2021/22 campaign though, scoring 15 and assisting another 14. Putting him among the very best numbers in Europe. This will almost certainly result in an upgrade with the question being how big will that be. I’m going for a plus 2 which takes him to 84, a fair rating in my eyes.

18th. Alessandro Bastoni, 84 rating (+4), Inter Milan

Inter Milan will likely receive a lot of upgrades after an impressive campaign that saw them finish second in Serie A, as you will see from this prediction but the biggest one comes with Bastoni. With both De Vrij and Skriniar already at the club, you may have thought that he would struggle to hold a regular spot but that was anything but the case with the Italian managing to be one of their stand out players for the season. Bastoni failed to sneak into Serie A TOTS but with four IF’s to his name, it was clear to see that he impressed throughout.

17th. Stefan De Vrij, 85 rating (0), Inter Milan

There are reasons for De Vrij to get a small downgrade for FIFA 23 but with De Vrij featuring in 30 matches while Inter narrowly missed out on the title, I think that he will escape the drop and remain at his 85 rating. Especially with the Serie A being relatively low in comparison to other divisions' ratings. Should EA decide to change his rating he will only be going in one direction though.

16th. Marcelo Brozovic, 85 rating (+1), Inter Milan

Back to the increases with Inter players now and we move to Brozovic. Despite receiving no IF’s over the year, the Croatian went on to gain a place in their TOTS which shows how vital he was to the side on a week-to-week basis. He consistently allowed the attacking side of the game to flow providing that support in front of the backline. There will be no major movement in rating but a plus one seems likely

15th. Leonardo Bonucci, 85 rating (0), Juventus

Bonucci is getting on now at 35 years of age but with the departure of both Chiellini and De Ligt over the summer he now has to step up for Juventus, to help lead them to the dominant force they have been in the past. He is more than capable of doing so after showing his quality over the years and despite his age I can see him staying at his 85 rating for at least one more season.

14th. Angel Di Maria, 85 rating (-2), Juventus

Juventus have signed a couple of wingers over the summer, perhaps the highest profile one being ADM. Although the Argentine is getting towards the end of his career, he still has a lot he can bring to the Italian giants. He will be hopeful of more game time with Juventus and after a weak 2021/22 although a downgrade is likely he is still a very talented player.

13th. Filip Kostic, 85 rating (+1), Juventus

Kostic is a difficult one as or a couple of seasons he has impressed with Frankfurt but due to the side he has played for it has somewhat capped is upper level. Seeing as he has now secured a move to Juventus, I do expect a small upgrade to occur and should he maintain that high level of performance we could be looking at another upgrade the following season. For now, I wouldn’t expect anything higher than an 85 though

12th. Nicolo Barella, 85 rating (+1), Inter Milan

Barella quickly became a popular option in FIFA 22 after receiving a plus 4 from the previous game and once again he is in line for an upgrade. I have opted for a plus one but at a push it could be a two. Barella played a deep playmaking role for Inter, providing an impressive 12 assists for them. The best is still yet to come from Barella of what should be an exciting few years for him

11th. Samir Handanovic, 85 rating (-1), Inter Milan

Now I am likely going to get a bit of stick for this one but that comes with making the bigger calls. Handanovic was a big part of Inter’s title push and had it not been for Inter’s second choice keeper in Radu, who made a costly mistake, they would have likely won the title but the matter of the fact is that he is now 36 years of age and we all know how much EA love to limit the older players. 86 is a high rating and although Handanovic likely has a couple more seasons in him it won’t be long before Inter begins to look for his replacement and thus I would expect gradual reductions from EA going forward

10th. Wojciech Szczesny, 86 rating (-1), Juventus

It was not the best season for both Szczesny and Juventus who have begun to lose their dominance over the division with several sides now beating them on a regular basis. Szczesny is still a quality keeper however a small upgrade puts him back in line with other keepers in both Serie A and Europe as a whole. There was more to the problem than just Szczesny for Juventus defensively but 87 is a difficult rating to upkeep.

9th. Sergej Milinkovic Savic, 86 rating (+1), Lazio

SMS has been 85 rated since way back in FIFA 19 and has perhaps been a tad unfortunate not to receive an upgrade before now. After arguably his best season yet for the club with both 11 goals and 11 assists to his name his time is surely now in terms of that elusive upgrade. A plus one is all he will realistically get and with him already being a strong option in FIFA it will only increase his appeal to players

8th. Romelu Lukaku, 86 rating (-2), Inter Milan

After an amazing campaign for Inter Milan, the Belgian headed back to the Premier League with Chelsea but it never really happened for him with a mixture of poor performances with media coverage of Lukaku being unhappy away from Inter. This led to just eight goals from 26 for Chelsea which when compared to his tally for Inter was underwhelming to say the least. Lukaku is now back to Inter and will hope to return to goalscoring form. A downgrade is inevitable for 23 though it just depends how heavy that downgrade is.

7th. Paul Pogba, 86 rating (-1), Juventus

Pogba continues his career path of jumping between United and Juventus with the two combining once again for a third time for his second stint at Juventus. When he wants to perform well Pogba is among the best midfielders in the world however his attitude is usually poor and it leads to multiple stints in a season of which he may as well not be on the pitch. There were moments of brilliance for United but not enough of them to justify staying at 87 for me and thus I expect a small downgrade to 86

6th. Mike Maignan, 86 rating (+2), AC Milan

It was obvious to see that Maignan was going to be a talented keeper from his time at Lille, since making the move to Milan his performances have continued to improve and he has been able to showcase that at a higher level and as a result he is set to gain a fourth consecutive upgrade and a decent one at that with a predicted plus 2 taking him to an 86

5th. Paulo Dybala, 86 rating (-1), Roma

I have already covered Dybala during the OTW prediction so it comes as no surprise that I am predicting a small downgrade to take Dybala to an 86 rating. The Argentine was decent last season but the 87 rating is a difficult one to maintain and he was perhaps slightly over rated for previous editions of the game. Roma have a very good signing here and hopefully he will be back at his best for the

4th. Lautaro Martinez, 86 rating (+1), Inter Milan

Martinez has progressive scored more and more since joining Inter way back in 2018 with his most recent campaign seeing 21 goals scored. There is good reason as to why the Argentine striker is attracting a lot of interest and should he somehow beat his record again during the 2022/3 campaign I would expect a big money move for him. As for FIFA 23 I expect a small upgrade for him, taking him to an 86 rated card.

3rd. Theo Hernandez, 86 rating (+2), AC Milan

Theo Hernandez has been one of the fastest risers over the past few seasons having received a plus 4 for two consecutive seasons after joining Milan. Although another plus 4 is a bit of a stretch I do still expect a decent upgrade after another strong season from the Frenchman combined with AC Milan going on to lift the title. He is already one of the best LB’s on the game and with another upgrade on the way his base card is simply ridiculous

2nd. Milan Skriniar, 87 rating (+1), Inter Milan

This one was a tough call with either Skriniar remaining as an 86 rated CB or potentially increasing to an 87, like I have predicted. One thing that goes against him is Inter’s failure to progress deep into the CL last season, with that being the biggest club competition it always gets significant hype behind players from sides who go far, but after consistently strong performances throughout the Serie A campaign I can see EA overlooking that. It does feel strange having him in the number two spot but you only have to watch him to see how good he is

1st. Ciro Immobile, 88 rating (+1), Lazio

Immobile needs no introduction but to list him as the highest rated player in a division is quite the statement. It’s something which is almost certainly going to happen, with or without the upgrade though with the Italian league slowly falling off the pace of other top divisions. Immobile has been scoring for fun for several seasons now and the 2021/22 campaign was no different. With 27 in 31 matches he was among the best goals to game ratios out there. With Lazio not being a European giant, it does cap Immobile’s upper limit but I see no reason as to why he can’t go one higher.
