FIFA 23 Songs and Their Estimated Earnings on Spotify

The final instalment of the titular FIFA football game was released on 30 September. FIFA 23 marks the final iteration of the game under that name and between the marriage of EA and FIFA. But this doesn't spell the end for the football game series, as all future iterations will go under the name EA Sports FC.

But back to this one, as like any other game before it, this one also included a feisty soundtrack. The game features 97 songs in total, comprised of some very popular choices that are more than suitable for a football game like this one.

Past games have always had remarkable soundtracks, it is one of the hallmarks of a good football game. A lot of songs take us back to the best moments while we played these games and artists like Kasabian, Imagine Dragons, and Avicii all gave their special stamp to each game.

But what’s the story now? Which artists and their songs have been included in the most recent game? And most importantly - How much has each song earned?

When Was the Soundtrack Released?

The soundtrack was released a few days prior to the game. It had a head start of four days, as it was released for streaming on 26 September 2022. It immediately hit the fans hard, with “Ojitos Lindos” performed by Bad Bunny and Bomba Estereo soon becoming the most popular track of the game.

If we are to look at the streaming stats on Spotify, prior to the release of the soundtrack, “Nail Tech” by Jack Harlow was the most popular song from all those on the list, with 144,332,825 streams to its name.

The popularity of the soundtrack helped the songs amass more streams earning it an increase of 3,420,440 once added to the soundtrack.

Which Are the Most Popular Songs?

On the soundtrack release day, two songs stood apart from the rest - the aforementioned “Ojitos Lindos” (Bad Bunny ft. Bomba Estereo) and “Obsessed With You” (Central Cee). The former had 621,975,592 streams while the latter counted 173,110,040.

Jack Harlow’s “Nail Tech” retained its popularity, followed by Rosalia’s “SAOKO.” Needless to say that the inclusion of a game on a soundtrack jump-started the popularity of certain songs. One of the most prominent examples is the song by Pheelz ft. BNXN called “Finesse," which went from 57,527,049 streams on 13 September to 60,305,653 on the day the game was released.

The Increase in Popularity

The same as every year, once the new soundtrack gets rolling, the songs included get a massive spike in popularity. If we are to look at the streaming numbers on Spotify from the release date of the game on 26 September and look at the sample until 3 October, we notice that some songs have recorded a massive spike.

For instance, “Ojitos Lindos” was already a popular song. But now, it managed to add 38,255,509 streams for the given period. It is a massive boost for both the artist and the song and has earned them a lot of new fans.

The top five remained unchanged. But all five songs got an increase in streams, with the help of the soundtrack’s popularity.

Estimated Earnings

If we are to translate the increase in streams into earnings, we get some really interesting figures. The jump of 38,255,509 additional streams has allowed “Ojitos Lindos” a very nice increase not just in popularity, but in terms of revenue as well. This song recorded the biggest jump of them all. It managed to amass $153,022.00 for the period from 26 September to 3 October.

All of the already mentioned five songs were able to increase their earnings. Therefore, the top five based on the estimated earnings on Spotify are as follows.

The song “SAOKO," performed by ROSALIA, just misses out on the top five. But deserves an honourable mention as it managed to earn $12,721.00 for the given period.

Methodology

We collected streaming numbers of the Official FIFA 23 Soundtrack on Spotify from 26th September 2022 (the day the soundtrack was live on Spotify) to 10th October 2022.
To estimate the earnings of each song, we used the Spotify Royalty Calculator by dittomusic.com - it estimates the amount earned by each stream on Spotify
The above figure was then multiplied by the increase in streams for each song on the FIFA 23 soundtrack to calculate which songs earned the most money after being featured on the video game’s soundtrack
