After a mediocre TOTW 7 we are back to the more usable sides. Beneficial positional changes for both Salah and Diaby stand out with potential IF’s for both Nkunku and Kostic both also on the way.
Kevin Trapp - GK - 86 > 88 OVR
5 Saves / 2-1 win against Augsburg / 1.5 Match Rating
Trapp has been my go to keeper this year in FUT and I highly recommend trying him out. The German is now in line for another upgrade after receiving a high Kicker rating for his five saves, ensuring all three points went home with Frankfurt.
Gigot - CB - 78 > 82 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Lyon / 7 Match Rating
With Gigot featuring in L’equipe’s TOTW alongside the fact he scored the only goal in the Choc des Olympiques derby, it makes him a strong candidate for TOTW 8.
Gabriel - CB - 81 > 84 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Chelsea / 8 Match Rating
With Manchester City tight on their tails, Arsenal must continue to pick up three points each week. A tough battle away at Chelsea saw a Gabriel goal separate the two sides. Although it was Partey named MOTM, I still lean towards the Brazilian for TOTW.
Nikola Milenkovic - CB - 80 > 83 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / 2-0 win against Sampdoria / 7 Match Rating
Serie A was one of the harder divisions to select from this week thus Milenkovic gets the nod over other potential defenders due to the league divide. Still a deserving performance from the Serbian though.
Filip Kostic - LM - 85 > 86 OVR
Two assists / 2-0 win against Inter / 7.5 Match Rating
Juventus made it four domestic wins on the bounce with a convincing 2-0 win against Inter Milan. Kostic provided the assist on both those goals thus finding himself likely of an IF.
Jacob Ramsey - CAM - 75 > 84 OVR
One goal, two assists / 3-1 win against Man United / 9 Match Rating
An eventful day for Jacob Ramsey saw him play a part in all four goals on Sunday. The own goal shouldn’t take anything away from his performance though with the youngster being superb throughout.
Moussa Diaby - CAM - 84 > 86 OVR
Two goals / 5-0 win against Union Berlin / 1.5 Match Rating
Leverkusen have been struggling this season so when they faced high flying Union Berlin they were expected to struggle. That was anything but the case though as they recorded a 5-0 win, jumping out the relegation zone in style. Diaby was named MOTM after scoring two of those five.
Ezequiel Avila - RW - 79 > 82 OVR
Brace / 2-1 win against Celta Vigo / 8.6 Match Rating
Quite a few players from the rulebreaker promotion also find themselves in this TOTW. Avila is another from that list. The Argentine scored both Osasuna goals as they beat Celta Vigo 2-1
Mohamed Salah - ST - 90 > 92 OVR
Two goals / 2-1 win against Tottenham / 8 Match Rating
Liverpool have struggled against sides they are expected to beat this season but when it comes to the difficult matches they still seem to perform. A Salah brace ensured that statement remained true, beating Tottenham 2-1.
Christopher Nkunku - CF - 86 > 87 OVR
Two goals / 3-1 win against Hoffenheim / 1.5 Match Rating
With Nkunku receiving a huge base card upgrade over the summer it means he won’t need as many special items to reach the usability level of FIFA 22. His first should come this Wednesday after scoring twice against Hoffenheim.
Mauro Icardi - ST - 77 > 81 OVR
Two goals / 2-1 win against Besiktas / 9 Match Rating
Icardi recently picked up a promotional SBC card which can often result in TOTW snubs. Considering the magnitude of this match, I can overlook that though. The Argentine was phenomenal throughout, deciding the match with his two goals.
Substitutes
Kasper Schmeichel - GK - 83 > 85 OVR
Two saves and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Brest / 7 Match Rating
In truth the substitute keeper could be anyone with not many standing out this week. I have opted for the ever reliable L’equipe keeper of the week, which was Schmeichel.
David Lopez - CB - 77 > 81 OVR
Goal and assist / 2-1 win against Bilbao / 8.1 Match Rating
After a strong start to the season, Bilbao have struggled for points in recent weeks. This was no different with Girona inflicting another defeat upon them. Lopez was the main architect, despite playing from the back.
Adam Lallana - CAM - 75 > 81 OVR
Goal and assist / 3-2 win against Wolves / 9 Match Rating
Brighton enter the top six, overtaking Potter’s Chelsea side, with a hard fought 3-2 win over Wolves. Lallana was named MOTM with an impressive 9 Match rating.
Youcef Belaili - LM - 76 > 81 OVR
Two goals, one assist / 4-2 win against Strasbourg / 8 Match Rating
Despite missing a penalty to secure his hat trick. Belaili has still done enough to secure his place in TOTW. The Algerian secured the joint highest L’equipe rating of the week for his three-goal contributions.
Marcus Edwards - RW - 78 > 82 OVR
Two goals, one assist / 3-0 win against Vitoria / 8 Match Rating
There were a few options from Portugal this week with the best one being Edwards. The Englishman often gets a decent promo card but his involvement in three goals should set his FIFA 23 account off with an IF.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting - ST - 75 > 81 OVR
Brace / 3-2 win against Hertha Berlin / 1.5 Match Rating
There’s an argument that practically anyone can play up top for these big sides and score regularly. Choupo-Moting is probably the best example of that, struggling for form at most clubs he has been at but now given the chance he is scoring regularly for Munich. His two goals this weekend means an IF is likely.
Paul Onuachu - ST - 79 > 82 OVR
Four goals / 4-1 win against Charleroi / 9.7 Match Rating
Onuachu now tops the scoring chart in Belgium after grabbing all four Genk goals on Friday, taking his total to 12 for the season, despite only starting nine matches.
Reserves
