The World Cup Stories event kicks off today in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, expanding on EA’s World Cup content from WC Path To Glory & Road to the World Cup.

After a Black Friday event filled with new packs, and SBCs galore that have I’m sure put many a FUT club into financial administration, we’re expecting a slightly more relaxed World Cup Stories event, which I’m sure will come as a relief to some after a costly Black Friday week.

Here’s all the information and latest news you need to know to get started with the upcoming World Cup Stories event in FUT 23!

World Cup Stories Loading Screen & Teased Players

The jury is still out on exactly which types of players we’re expecting to see in the World Cup stories event, so predicting players is somewhat tricky!

From the latest loading screen, we can see that World Cup Stories will feature:

92 Rated Liverpool - Virgil Van Dijk seems like an obvious prediction given the high rating, captaining the Netherlands to yet another World Cup knockout stage in Group A.

Portuguese + 91 Passing - Bruno Fernandes makes the most sense here, being the only base gold Portuguese player with passing close to this level, barring a massive upgrade to someone like Ruben Neves.

91 Pace & 89 Dribbling - Your guess is as good as ours here, the possibilities are endless!

What is the World Cup Stories Promo?

We’re left guessing a little as to what exactly the World Cup Stories event will deliver, with very little information to go off for this event, other than a teased card design via a loading screen.

Will these be Flashbacks to World Cups of years past, or a look into the 2022 World Cup, looking at standout players from the group stages?

EA stated in their World Cup Pitch Notes article that there are a “range of campaigns and player programs planned,” that will “celebrate special moments and performances.” We expect stories to capitalise on this, and deliver a promo themed around big moments of World Cups of yesteryear, the 2022 World Cup qualifying, and the tournament so far.

World Cup Stories Promo Release Date

As confirmed in the loading screen, the World Cup Stories event will be released on Friday December 2nd, running until December 9th.

It has been confirmed on EA’s website that World Cup Stories will be a 1 week event, with the next promo confirmed for December 9th.

World Cup Stories Predictions & Rumours

With such little information surrounding the World Cup Stories event, predicting which players may be included is a rather difficult task, however, as ever, the FUT Social Media rumour mill has been turning, with many speculating which cards we may be seeing soon!

From the loading screens, we’ve predicted Van Dijk & Bruno Fernandes, with Leroy Sane also being a fit for 91 Pace & 89 Dribbling.

Among our predictions, other rumoured players include Aymeric Laporte, Marcus Rashford, Richarlison, Marco Asensio, the Canadian golden boy Alphonso Davies, Granit Xhaka, and USA talent Timothy Weah.
