FIFA 23 TEAM OF THE YEAR BENZEMA PLAYER REVIEW

The Team of the Year promo has begun and this year we are getting a few players who are making their debuts in a TOTY XI. Benzema is one of these and I think we can all agree his inclusion is definitely deserved. 

While Benzema’s in-game attributes have had notable boosts, a big upgrade is actually his weak foot, which for this item, has been put to 5 stars. 

After 10 games he had a respectable 11 goals, but more impressively 8 assists.

He was the focal point of our team, surrounded by talent. The popular ENGINE chem style was applied which saw nice boosts to his Pace, Dribbling & Passing. Due to the high stats in every department, he will remain with the Controlled AcceleRATE type.

Benzema offers an interesting look at the current state of the game.  Even with the ENGINE chemistry style, he is neither quick nor agile.  Yet he remains a viable option and can certainly lead the line better than most.

Without a doubt his best attributes are in his shooting department, he finishes at the level you’d expected from a Team of the Year attacker. Premium goalscorer, helped by his new weak foot upgrade & his shooting-related traits.

99 FINISHING & 97 SHOT POWER is an elite combination that very few attackers in the game will match for a while.

Value/Coins

Value for Coins Rating: 4/5

At around 2,000,000 coins there really isn’t too much to complain about, he looks like he could have a similar price trend to TOTY Lewandowski of yesteryear, He’s a premium forward, and comes with a premium price tag if it wasn’t for the minor dribbling issues, he’d of been given a 5/5 for this area.

Overall

Good vs. Bad 

+The acceleration might not be the best, but the Sprint Speed is perfect.  If you can get this card moving in 1-2 situations and utilize In Behind runs he can be a weapon in attack.

+The ENGINE chemistry style boosts 99 SHORT PASSING and 99 VISION to round off some impressive statistics.  The closest that I have come to an assist per game in a review and the quality shone through in more difficult matches. 

+Important to note the size and physicality of this card at this point… 95 STRENGTH on an already large card is a crazy combination.  I quite enjoyed the hold-up play which worked on the ground and in the air given the 91 JUMPING and 99 HEADING ACCURACY.

+The 5 STAR WEAK FOOT, Finesse, and Outside Foot Traits, along with the ridiculous baseline statistics were just about as automatic as you can find.  Definitely the key selling point of this card. 

-The only downfall of the item came in the dribbling… the agility of the item just didn’t match the premium ability of his other areas.

-If you utilize the passing and movement of this card then you can create ample chances and the results are automatic… but the sluggish feel can be a little frustrating when you paid 2 million coins for results.

Closing Words

The general output of this Team of the Year item is brilliant, goals & assists is what he provides and that’s exactly what you’d want from an attacker whose price point is in the millions.

Overall a weapon in attack… but not perfect.
