TOTW 21 Predictions FIFA 23

Not the strongest of sides to look forward to but with many other promotions just around the corner there are still some options to keep you occupied. Another upgrade for Osimhen and Reus while a potential OTW upgrade could also be on the way for Kessie.

Steve Mandanda - GK - 79 > 86 OVR

Eight saves and clean sheet  /  PSG 0 - Rennes 2  /  8 L’equipe Rating

Rennes shocked league leaders PSG this weekend with a 2-0 win over them. Mandanda rolled back the year between the sticks, making save after save to ensure the clean sheet remained intact.

Yannick Carrasco - LB - 85 > 87 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  Atletico 3 - Valencia 0  /  7.9 Whoscored Rating

Defenders were difficult to select this week with very few standing out. That will likely work in Carrasco’s favour though with his average match rating being overlooked. A goal and a clean sheet for a gold defender is unlikely to go overlooked from la Liga.

Lutsharel Geertruida - RB - 77 > 83 OVR

Goal  /  Ajax 2 - Feyenoord 3  /  7.5 VI Rating

After coming off a superb display in Europe midweek Feyenoord backed it up with an impressive away win over Ajax. With the holding so much importance at the top of the table I expect an IF to occur from the match with Geertruida being the best option, scoring the winner late on.

James Tavernier - RB - 78 > 87 OVR

Goal and assist  /  Motherwell 2 - Rangers 4  /  8.3 Sofascore Rating

Although Rangers conceded twice, it's standard practice that Tavernier gains acknowledgement for his attacking contributions rather than his defensive ones. With two to his name this weekend he is in line for his second IF of the game.

Filip Kostic - LM - 85 > 87 OVR

One goal  /  Inter 0 - Juventus 1  /  7 Gazzetta Rating

Juventus recorded a 1-0 win over Inter to continue the host's poor form thanks to a Kostic goal. Although the match rating was modest I can see Kostic still making the side due to the magnitude of the sides playing.

Kessie  - CM - 84 > 87 OVR

One goal  /  Barcelona 2 - Real Madrid 1  /  7.4 Whoscored Rating

Barcelona came from behind to win the El Classico 2-1 on Sunday. There is no clear option for the IF but it’s practically inevitable that there will be one. For me, it’s between De Jong and Kessie. With the latter scoring the winner late on he will be fresh in the mind thus I am punting that way.

Marco Reus - LW - 85 > 88 OVR

Two goals  /  Dortmund 6 - Koln 1  /  1.5 Kicker Rating

Dortmund went top of the Bundesliga thanks to yet another convincing win. This time over Koln. Several players are an option for the IF, especially with MOTM Guerrero being ruled out. Reus is the best option for me with his two goals seeing Kicker award him a 1.5.

Viktor Tsygankov - RM - 80 > 88 OVR

Two goals  /  Vallecano 2 - Girona 2  /  8.4 Whoscored Rating

I am not quite sure how Tsygankov has been under the radar for so long, continually performing well in Ukraine before Girona took the punt on him. He has stood out in La Liga since the Spanish outlet signed him and another two goals this weekend could result in his SIF.

Bukayo Saka - RW - 82 > 85 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  Arsenal 4 - Palace 1  /  9 Sky Rating

Considering the season Saka has had it's hard to believe that this would be his first IF of FIFA 23. That IF is practically guaranteed here though after he was involved in three of Arsenal’s four goals on Sunday.

Marvin Ducksch - ST - 75 > 86 OVR

Two goals  /  Gladbach 2 - Werder Bremen 2  /  1 Kicker Rating

Ducksch was awarded a perfect 1-match rating from Kicker this weekend with his brace ensuring that Werder Bremen at least came away with a point on Friday evening. With a lack of featured upgrade options, I would expect someone like Ducksch to receive it with multiple lower-rated gold strikers being options for this side.

Victor Osimhen - ST - 83 > 88 OVR

Two goals  /  Torino 0 - Napoli 4  /  8.5 Gazzetta Rating

Osimhen is one of the most in-form players around Europe at the moment with his latest double taking him up to 21 Serie A goals for the season. The Nigerian was named player of the week in Italy with a huge 8.5-match rating.

Substitutes

Manuel Riemann - GK - 79 > 83 OVR

Nine saves and clean sheet  /  Bochum 1 - Leipzig 0  /  2 Kicker Rating

There were a couple of Bundesliga keeper options this week with both Riemann and Ronnow standing out. Despite Ronnow being named keeper of the week, I have opted to go with Riemann simply due to the number of saves and who the opponent was.

Gerzino Nyamsi - CB - 76 > 83 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  Strasbourg 2 - Auxerre 0  /  7 L’equipe Rating

The majority of L’equipes TOTW was filled with illegible players for this week's side making it difficult to select from the division. One player who should make EA’s side however is Nyamsi. The Frenchman scored the opening goal during Strasbourg’s 2-0 win.

Thiago Almada - CAM - 76 > 83 OVR

Two goals, two assists  /  Atlanta 5 - Portland 1  /  10 Sofascore Rating

Almada has been on the fringe of TOTW a couple of times since the resumption of MLS but this week he is nailed on. The Argentine was involved in four of their five goals as Atlanta recorded a comfortable win as they lead the Eastern Conference.

Exequiel Palacios - CDM - 78 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  Leverkusen 2 - Munich 1  /  1.5 Kicker Rating

Despite both his goals coming from 12 yards Palacios should be nailed o for this week's side. The Argentine’s goals saw Leverkusen come from behind to shock Munich 2-1. The result means Munich no longer lead the Bundesliga title race.

Manolo Gabbiadini - ST - 75 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  Sampdoria 3 - Verona 1  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

A relegation battle between both Sampdoria and Verona ended up with the hosts coming away with all three points. An early double from Gabbiadini was the difference with Gazzetta awarding him MOTM for his performance.

Tim Kleindienst - ST - 71 > 85 OVR

Three goals, one assist  /  Heidenheim 5 - Karlsruher 2  /  1 Kicker Rating

I was hesitant about the four-week gap last week but after seeing several make it the decision on Kleindienst this time was easy. The German continued his impressive form with four-goal contributions this weekend

Nathan Tella - ST - 67 > 84 OVR

Hat trick  /  Hull 1 - Burnley 3  /  9.6 Whoscored Rating

What a season it has been for Nathan Tella and Burnley thus far. The Englishman took his tally to 17 for the season with another hat trick on Wednesday. Burnley now sits 13 points clear at the top with the title in touching distance.
