FIFA 23 Flashback Kimpembe Player Review - Cop or Flop?

Maestro Kimpembe.. Kimpembe! Kimpembe! He is finally here! All week we have been teased with the arrival of this Flashback Kimpembe card and it is finally upon us. The yang to Ramos’ Ying. This PSG duo will be running your nightmares I can assure you.

The most anticipated week of TOTS is upon us with the Ligue 1 Team of the Season. What a day for content I might add! An Openda objective card will be haunting weekend league players alongside a phenomenal Ligue 1 TOTS team. But onto Kimpembe. I had high hopes for this card, envisioning a Sergio Ramos 2.0 and he certainly did not disappoint.

Is this SBC expensive? Of course it is. Is it well-priced? Absolutely. The SBC comes in currently at roughly 550k. This is a card that will be in many people's squads. How many overpowered players in the Ligue 1 alone are there? Let alone PSG players. He links so well to so many players and delivers an incredible performance on top of that. This SBC comes very similarly priced to the previous Flashback Ramos item and we all know how valuable that card is. Kimpembe is no different.

As you will see there is a very heavy PSG presence in this squad. It’s undeniable that PSG produces some top-tier players and Kimpembe is yet another in that lineup. Creating a brick wall in defense alongside fellow PSG defenders, Ramos, Hakimi and an inclusion of the new TOTS Nuno Mendes also. These guys were impenetrable.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Interceptions for me was one of the biggest things that impressed me. This man could successfully intercept a train. No counterattack seemed to be getting past him.
+ Strength was incredible, there wasn’t a single player he couldn’t battle off the ball.
+ A surprising one for me was his dribbling. For a CB he controlled the ball really well and paired it with some silky passes that I just felt needed shouting about
+ Defensive awareness was fantastic, he was constantly on an immediate trackback before you even knew a counter-attack had begun and seemed to find the perfect spot to prevent through balls from getting past him
/ Pace for me however felt just slightly disappointing. At 89 pace I was expecting a little bit more but he just didn’t feel so quick at times.

How does he compare to others?

I mentioned earlier about having the expectations of being a Ramos 2.0 and genuinely I was not disappointed. This card almost completes Ramos for me. They pair very nicely. Ramos pushes up a little bit more and presses players where as Kimpembe is the backup ready to support and block off anything that might slip past Ramos. A second layer of defense for Fort Knox. These two just felt unbeatable.

Presnel Kimpembe - Cop or Flop?

There’s no beating around the bush on this. Kimpembe is an absolute cop for me. I feel this is another one of those that if you don’t complete it you will regret it. He’s going to be in so many people's teams and being a card that performs so well and is so great for links. He almost feels perfect. I know all of you will be blasting out that song as you sit and complete this SBC.
