FC 24 Flashback Silas Player Review - Cop or Flop

I want to say this one is a nice surprise but we have been anticipating this card for the past 24 hours as it was dropped into concepts a little prematurely. Flashback Silas is now available in the SBC section today. The card looks nice but we all awaited the price tag for this SBC.

Bundesliga TOTS hasn’t been the most overwhelming week and it’s felt a little bit slow but this card sure looks like a nice fun ending to a long week. But how will he perform?

A big boost for Silas here as he gets his first special item of the year. His base card of course being a 74 rated item so a very nice +16 for this card alongside having 5*/5* and 3 playstyle pluses in Trickster, Rapid and Trivela. A little underwhelming for playstyles but he sure does have some nice stats. 

Shooting, Passing, Dribbling and Physical getting the majority of the boosts here, though it still doesn’t quite feel like a TOTS level card so I would hope that this would mean a little bit of a discount for this SBC.

With how easy it is to get chemistry this year I found it surprisingly annoying to build around this card as typically I wouldn’t use a Bundesliga themed squad. Having an obscure nation and playing for Stuttgart meant limited options for chemistry outside of using Icons/Heroes.

Chemstyle for me has to be the Marksman. You really want to push up those shooting stats and the additional boost to dribbling and strength is very well welcomed.

At only 3 segments this really isn’t that much of an expensive SBC to complete but understandably isn’t highly upvoted with it at the time being sat at 75% downvoted. I feel this may be due to the fact that from face value, this doesn’t look like an impressive item and likely doesn’t improve on many players in your squad. But how will he perform in-game?

How did he perform in-game?

+ Dribbling is by far the best thing about this card. He holds the ball incredibly well and makes his way around the opposition with ease.

+ Pace of course was impressive, 95 pace and quick step meant Silas was absolutely rapid.

+ I was surprised by the shooting on this card because he seemed to have no issue finding the back of the net. It’s almost like he flashed back to the Trivela meta because he was scoring them with ease.

+ Positioning is also very good on this card because he pressed very high on attack and always seemed to be ready to pick up the ball and finish the attack

/ Passing wasn’t necessarily bad on this card but outside of short passing it wasn’t anything impressive. Which isn’t great for a winger.

Silas - Cop or Flop?

I didn’t touch on this and usually don’t mention evolutions but I couldn’t help notice that there are a lot of options for this card to be evo’d and most of them present a higher rated card with better playstyle+’s. The main difference being the absence of the 5* weak foot and some of the options being better for chemistry as it comes with the “TOTS + version”. So this may be why a lot of the player base are downvoting this SBC.

But for those that don’t have that evo option, this card was surprisingly fun to use. Played better in-game than I had expected. This isn’t going to be a competitive card that is going to win you those crucial games in champs. But it’s a different card to use that was fun to play with and not one that is going to break the bank. In my opinion, it’s worth the pickup if you have some spare fodder lying around. Let’s be honest, we all have a random TOTS card lying around in our club.
