First review I've written, but after a long search for the ideal midfield player, this guy really deserves one.
The way I play demands a lot from my 2 central midfielders. They are the one that dictate the game, tempo en build-up.
Long have I played with Wijnaldum and was constantly searching for a good partner to pair him on midfield. (sissoko, de Jong, Llorente, Guardiola mid-icon etc.)
With de Gravenberch objective being released I decided to pair him up with Wijnaldum. Gravenberch being the more defensive type. Because Gravenberch is not easy to link I decided I wanted a world class icon.
This guy should have it all (ofcourse you pay much, so I expect much). Seedorf was always on my list, but could not afford him.
Finally I had to coins to buy him, so I took the gamble and let me say: he is exactly what I was looking for.
He plays LCM next to Gravenberch. His instructions are balanced and with high high workrates he is all over the pitch.
Gravenberch is the stay back midfielder (who also has excellent passing skills).
Despite is stocky bodytype and 79 agility, his dribbling feels really natural and smooth. He is not the quick turner like Neymar etc, but for a strong central midfielder he feels really smooth on the ball. Because of his strength he also very hard to take tackle and intercept the ball from. Especially if you use his body to shield off the ball.
His strength also is a big plus when it comes to defending. He has 71 defending, but with a shadow you can boost these stats to 80.
The greatest plus on Seedorf is his passing skills. His passing is so great, that almost every pass is accurate. Also because of my playstyle, I need a midfielder who acts as an architect on midfield and he does. He provides at least one assist per game, but is also involved in almost every attack.
Due to his high high workrates, this guy is all over the pitch. Joining the attack in the build up, but also providing defensive support.
Off the ball he feels really quick and smooth and on the ball there is no difference. Ofcourse he is not your speedy gonzales like Mbappe, but for this position that is not required.
If you are looking for a Gullit type of player, then he is the more affordable alternative. My guess is that he feels better than Gullit base icon, mainly because Gullit is 91kg.
High high workrates, 4 star weakfoot and 4 star skills. He is your missing link on midfield.
Strength
Passing
Workrates
4 star weakfoot
cheaper then Gullit
Dominant player ingame
Still around 750k
He's not the speed dribbler if that is what you are looking for.
He feels so smooth on the ball and with 4* 4* his skill moves feel very capable and can shoot on both feet. For me he feels like a more attacking Kante, he is a similar height and can slot in a CDM spot next to Kante where they play very well together. He can play box to box and a CAM role. He can shoot well and makes very strong attacking runs and seems to be in the right place at the right time. As he is an icon he fits into any team and strong links to players like VVD, Gravenberch, Robben, Klaiber. He is quick and he feels faster than his stats say. I highly recommend using this card and is very usable against the meta of this game.
Height- Can dribble and very good ball control
Pace- Is quicker than his stats say
Defending- Can hold his own and is strong and has a great tackle
Attacking- Has very good passing and has strong shots
Isn't very tall so he can get overpowered by taller players
He is expensive if you do not have him untradeable
I packed him from my base icon pack on swaps and initially i thought it was an L, but looking at his 600k+ pricetag, i thought different.
I play Clarence alongside Bruno in a 4-4-2 with an engine. He is absolute class. Whenever you forget about him you look after the game and he has 3 or 4 assists, and a 100% pass completion.
His defending is as average as it comes, but can definitely tackle efficiently. He feels much more agile than his stats suggest, and his longshots are absolutely insane.
I packed this guy in my base icon pack, and seeing it was 700k-ish at the time, I was alright with it. It wasn't incredible but it definitely wasn't terrible, and having done an icon roulette instead of seeing the pack I was kind of happy that I didn't see Dutch CM :)
I decided to play him as a box to box but starting as a more attacking CDM as I chucked a sentinel on him to boost his defensive attributes.
It just didn't work. This guy is the master of playing a pass miles in front or behind of someone, and is also really good at kicking the ball out of play, which really surprised me. I'm in Div 1 and I can honestly say Valverde felt like a better midfielder than him and he isn't even a CDM and I was playing him there.
When he got into a shooting chance, his finishing was actually excellent, and his shot power was pretty nice too. He did win headers a lot of the time and felt a lot more agile than other icons I've tried.
As soon as a good icon SBC comes out where you need an icon to go in, this guy is the first thought in my head to go in there.
All round consistency in all attributes
Shooting
Stamina
Passing was REALLY underwhelming
Weak in the tackle
Stands around in defence instead of trying to intercept, everything had to be done manually
