I was looking for a striker with okay pace, good shooting and beeing capable of netting some headers, I came along Ian Rush and for a steal about 300k I was like "fck it lets try!". After a WL with Lukaku up front. Ian Rush felt so refreshing! And then the moment came and he scored his first goal: the close up camera revealed his real strength: THE mustache. This was the moment I fell in love with him. Happily he scored a lot more times in the WL and every time the close up cam arrived, my heart was filled with joy.
But ngl it's not just the mustache (but mostly) - Ian Rush feels very smooth ingame, got nearly perfect positioning and has insane shooting. He feels way more faster than 83 pace (with Hunter ofc) and even his below average agility feels okay due to his height (he still scored a LOT of headers!). In a 4231 as a lone striker, he was the main carry for scoring and he deliverd fantastic with 27 Goals in 20 Matches this WL. I guess he will be my striker for a long time, bc I just fell in love with him and his mustache.
Mustache. Like for real.
Pace (in relation to his actually 83)

Smooth L-Stick Dribbling
Long Shots are quite nice too + he got the finesse shot trait!
Insane value for about 300k
Skill Moves. Yeah just dont try, wont need it anyway this year.
Many of you will be here because you got him in an icon pack. This gentleman popped up out of my mid/prime icon pack, much to my dismay, but after looking at his stats I wasn't too disappointed. He looked promising in a way. And although it may have taken all my coins and fodder to receive him when I could've just gotten him for a sneaky 90k, the adrenaline an icon pack supplies you with is worth it.
I placed him left striker in a 4222 alongside gold mbappe (untradable, I'm not rich). To be honest I was just fascinated to see the moustache but he is so much more than just that. The meta outside foot shot+finesse shot combo comes in handy, and alongside the power header trait he doesn't do too badly. His pace is pretty average, so is the dribbling. I put an engine on him to boost his dribbling (and passing, but it obviously doesn't help too much. Good luck hitting a pass more than 10 metres away). His stamina is just enough to last the full 90 minutes, and strength is alright too. Main thing that surprised me was his shooting. This man made mbappe look like werner. Finesse shots had me squirming around, and get it on his head no questions asked you've got a goal. His heading was incredible. Volleys and shot power were nuts too. Scored some really tight goals where the keepers rushing and he somehow squeezes it under him.
If for some odd reason you didn't get him in your icon pack and are actually looking to buy him (I won't judge) I would say get his prime, although this card is still a steal for 90k. Much better than headliner Laborde who I also love.

Moustache
3*skills but it isn't a bad thing, always good to have one person up top who isn't a meta rat
Dribbling a tiny bit low, in bad gameplay can feel clunky or slow
Passing is mostly adequate but the occasional shocker really makes you take a step back
I like to use icons because some are fun to use and look at in game. I play at least 20 games with the icon to feel the player out and make an honest opinion on the player. I play in Division 2 or higher.
I packed Ian Rush out of my mid icon pack and was pretty bummed out after my friend packs Pele. I knew my icon looked way sexier than Pele with his great mustache but in game, Ian Rush absolutely changed my Fifa experience. (In a good way)
I usually do not laugh while playing FIFA as I am always raging at something but let me tell you, playing with Ian Rush was one of the funniest experiences I have ever had. I am undoubtedly sure he is the worst attacking icon I have used this FIFA, and trust me I have used many.
Rush was tripping over himself when dribbling, hitting little girls in the stands when taking long shots, whiffing the ball for open goals, and eating grass when getting anywhere near Kimpembe. I could not believe some of the things I was seeing. A card with 90 shot should be able to at least finish a one-on-one but Rush? - He'll score when he feels like it. And When he felt like it, I would always run to the camera to see his shining mustache because that is the only thing that was good about him.
I hope I did not get anyone's hopes up when saying you'd have a great experience with Rush because I am truly sorry if you packed him in an icon pack. I deem this card to be unusable in any sense. He should not even be used for fodder. I quick sold him after 20 games.
I tried him in both a one striker and a two striker formation, not good in either. Only scored one-on-ones when he felt like it.
Good luck playing this card against Kimpembe; he will eat you alive.
