Rulebreaker Moussa Diaby Review

Finally, the Scream Promo is back!! If only that were true… but in the end, we settled for the recycling of last year's Rulebreakers Promo that does still offer some ever intriguing options.  You can tell from my squad setup that many immediately caught my eye and none more so than the currently extinct Leverkusen man, Moussa Diaby.  The massive Shooting and Passing upgrades seemed to be the perfect missing pieces, and I was hoping the upgrades would turn Diaby into a weapon on the wing in my squad.  There were some questions about my 4-2-3-1 Tactics last week and why I prefer a left footer at LAM as opposed to in the RAM position where they can utilize the cut in and finesse meta… and hopefully the video for this review will do that justice as Diaby terrorized my opponent's right-backs all weekend long.  Playing Diaby as a LAM in the 4-2-3-1 it made sense to apply the MARKSMAN chemistry style in a bid to perfect his offensive threat in the final third.  Diaby was the right-back Grim Reaper all weekend long in the following squad:

Starting Formation:

In-game Formation:

Overall

Rating: 8.5/10
Pace Rating: 9.5/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Shooting Rating: 8/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 7/10
Defending Rating: N/A

When I immediately rated this card it was a 9/10 overall and I wasn’t at all concerned about backing that up… 14 goals and 7 assists across 15 matches in the LAM position! Those are outrageous numbers for me in this FIFA and it constantly felt that the goals were at key moments, in key games, and I couldn’t have been happier with this card.  However, upon really looking at the remainder of the individual rated categories it became clear that I may have been letting some of those big moments influence my opinion on the true quality of this card and slightly scaled back my excitement… but he is still so good.

Main Statistic - Pace

Pace Rating: 9.5/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Height: 170cm | 5’7

When a card boasts 98 ACCELERATION & 94 SPRINT SPEED it is kind of a given that they are going to be fast.  However, you can never really predict what version of speed you will get in the end until you see them in full cry running at an opponent's backline.  In Diaby’s case, you can choose your description: rapid, quick, lightning, pelt, devastating, blazing… it doesn’t matter the word, this card fills the definition and then some.  I couldn’t believe just how quickly Diaby gets off the mark and even with a small downgrade from his NIF’s dribbling, the 88 BALL CONTROL & 93 DRIBBLING didn’t slow him down one bit.  Constantly in control, constantly moving at breakneck speed, this card is a handful to defend and a joy to use.

Main Attribute - 2 ★ Weak Foot

Weak Foot: ★★
Shooting Rating: 8/10

Two weeks running I have reserved the normally positive main attribute category for a glaring issue with an important part of FIFA success.  While Bernardo Silva’s weak foot was poor for me (some have claimed otherwise in comments of that review)... Diaby was abysmal (I can’t imagine there is one person suggesting otherwise in this case).  However, I still sat here for several minutes toying with the idea of just giving this card a 9/10 Shooting for just how amazing he is on the left.  You feel every mph/kph of the 96 SHOT POWER when unleashing with this card and the 99 FINISHING has the ball arrowing towards those open corners time after time.  In the end, I reserved the last minute of the video to just show the potency of this card in goal scoring situations… some incredibly crucial goals in often dramatic and devastating fashion.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 4/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 4/5

Yes, this card is extinct.  But he is not very difficult to snipe in my experience and in a minute long search just now during this review I managed to see four pop up.  With such a high return and incredibly tempting statistics, I have gone for a 4/5 for Value/Coins simply because of what will happen when he is not extinct.  This card will see a price range update… the card will temporarily go up… and then be down below 140k for eternity.  While my market knowledge is absolutely abysmal and I would never take my market advice or predictions for anything more than horse manure… a simple look at similar cards will tell you that this card will lose luster the moment it is more available.  When this happens, this card will become a 5/5 Value/Coins because anything around or below 100k for this card is silly low.

The 85 SHORT PASSING is so accurate with this card while the 82 CROSSING is on display and on point in the video.  Again these passes are made easier in the LAM position where he is using his favorite left foot and taking advantage of those very healthy Passing upgrades added to the Rulebreaker card.  Unfortunately, even a Rulebreaker promo couldn’t bend the rules on how weak this card is in game … thankfully all of the Pace and Dribbling can find spaces away from defenders… because once they lay a hand on Diaby it is game over and the ball is moving the other way up the pitch.

Closing Words

With the Bundesliga continuing to be a viable option in FIFA 22 this card looks a perfect addition to some of those squads… especially if you utilize formations with those out and out wingers.  I think it is clear just how much I enjoyed this card and the returns were spectacular… but even more importantly the performances across the weekend were top notch… I seriously don’t remember a moment where I felt like this card was anything short of a key contributor to my success.  The 2 STAR WEAK FOOT is ultimately going to turn the majority of FUT Managers away from this card before he even gets a kick and fair enough.  But I definitely noticed enough redeeming qualities to say that he deserves a run out, and like I say, after a price range update, he could even be available for a much more tempting price moving forward.  Hoping you are all well. Cheers for reading.

Honest Diaby player review
By broodjekipmetsaus, 30-10-2021

EA released this card yesterday in there first `rulebreaker´ squad, i luckely got him in a sbc and saw that he was extint on the market. so i just used him in my squad. At the moment this is the best french and bundesliga winger. going for 140k. i used him this weekend league in a 4231 as a left cam together with mbappe, dembele en bruno fernandez.

Personally i would keep him as a left winger, he otherwise gets to predictible with his left food since he has a 2 star weak foot. could be played somewhere else but i would just use his pace to get him in the box the quickest way possible.

His strenght on the ball is only good while doing close dribbling, use a marksman chem to boost his dribbling because he really needs it to make a good use of his pace.

dribbling is ok, not fantastic like other wingers such as vini, dembele and gucci hairband. but using skillmoves such as ball rolls will work great on him. close dribbling works best on him inside the box.

His passing is decent, only problem i have is his curve for finesse shots. other then that he will do the job for you.

His shooting, his finishing inside the box is discusting. didn't need to time finesse most shots inside the box with him. if you're gonna use his right food often. i would highly recommend green timing. out side the box is just mwe, probally because of his 70 longshots and 72 curve.

  • Pace for sure, to make the best out of it boost his dribbling. with out his his ball controll feels off.
  • inside the box finishing and attacking positioning are his key stats to making him a better winger then most.
  • Strenght for sure. close dribbling is great but more then that probally not.
  • Curve and longshots. I would just use him on the wing to cut in side to the first post or use him inside the box.
  • Maybe price, he is currently extinct. compared to other wingers he is probally around the best low to mid range price. if you lack the coins i would go for dembele. if you can get him for a fair price i would definitely use him.

The Big Surprise
By Bnico, 31-10-2021

Hey guys,

Like a lot of people, I bought Diaby as a simple investment because of the price ranges (I'm sorry lol). But since I also finished the Nkunku SBC (which I absolutely LOVE), I decided to just give him a go in my team. I put him as my left striker in a 4-4-2 formation next to RTTF Rodrygo (which was kinda meh for me). And mannn he just surprised me. At first you would think he is just too mediocre with his 2 star WF and his downgraded dribbling, but it couldn't be further from the truth. His in-game stats tell a different story. He has 98 acceleration and 94 sprint speed, which allows to use a non-speedboost chem style. I used a finisher. He now has 99 finishing, 99 positioning, 99 shot power - it doesn't get any better. He also now has 98 agilty, 94 balance and 98 dribbling... Damn. All games were played in Div 1:

Pace: 9,5/10

He is rapid. Because of the insane acceleration he will just slice through all your Varane/Kimpembe defenses. One wrong step of the defender and he is yet to be seen.

Shooting: 9,5/10

His shooting is just a thing of beauty. Because finesse shots are (mostly) awful in this game, you have to rely on his power shots. And oh boy what was I in for a treat. his power shot ar by far the best of any player I've used this year. But there is of course a big BUT: He has 2 star WF. I really feared it would destroy a potentially great card... Aaaand then I found out it just rarely matters. Because he is a left striker, almost all of his chances will be at the left center of the box - perfect for the cross goal power shots. His weak foot is actually quite decent because it almost doesn't matter this year. He just makes it work. He bangs them in from the most insane positions. Even if you think it's an impossible angle, just shoot your shot because it will just surprise you.

Passing: 8/10

His Passing is actually really great for a striker/forward. His 85 short passing, 83 vision and 82 crossing makes him a better passer than 90% of all the strikers. It makes the quick 1-2 passes really effective in combination with his amazing acceleration.

Dribbling: 8,5/10

His dribbling got a downgrade. But in reality, his most important attributes (agility, balance and dribbling) are still elite. Especially with the finisher chem style he will feel really comfortable with speed dribbling past the defenders. It felt really easy to turn him when pressured by defenses.

Defense: N/A

I used "stay forward" on him, so I didn't utilize his defensive abilities.

Physical: 6,5/10

His physical abilities don't seem that impressive. His low strength is heavily compensated by his high balance, which makes him seem as a really strong guy weirdly. I had to check if he really had such low strength, because it doesn't feel like it. His stamina is easily enough when using the right instructions on him.

Conclusion:

He just feels amazing. I didn't expect him to perform this well and he earned a spot in my team. His biggest weakness - 2 star WF - really isn't that big of a deal in this game. His right foot is actually pretty good as well, but that is just how this years game works. If anything, his left foot is what really shapes him as a great player and gives him character. I will not sell him for under 300k at least. I don't mind if he will go down because of all the traders and I don't mind if he will rise in price, because he is just that good. It really is a fun player - who also performs like a great player. I hope he can surprise all you guys also, because he just brings back the fun to Fifa. Please note that English is not my native tongue, so keep that in mind if I made any mistakes. Tnx guys.

  • Pace. damn.
  • Shooting. f-ing amazing.
  • Agilty and dribbling. Slips through defenses like a slippery eel.
  • Balance. Steady like a house.
  • 4* Skills The cherry on top.
  • 2* Skills. obviously, but no deal-breaker.

RB Diaby as a ST in 3-5-2
By stjimmy04, 04-11-2021

I recently got RB Diaby out of an 78+ upgrade and decided to give him a go in my BuLi / Prem hybrid team with a splash of Liga Portugal. I played him for 10 games in Rivals and in Champs Qualification (wednesday evening, CET). I used him as the left striker in my 3-5-2, with RB Antonio at right striker and POTM Wirtz at CAM. Diaby scored 10 goals and had 13 assists in the aforementioned 10 games. He is quick, he is agile, he has a great left foot.

The thing that impressed me the most is that even though he realistically only has one foot for shooting, most opponents were not able to stop him. He simply is too agile and fast at this stage of the game. The dribbling is smooth, and with a good connection he can outmaneuver any opposing player.

The lack of strength is an issue, but I'd say a minor. I paired him with a physically strong counterpart on the right side and they complement each other very well. I'd also say he needs a good ball supplier due to his low defensive stats. He is not a player that wins back balls for me. RB Antonio as 2nd striker can do that, but to play that last pass I chose POTM Wirtz to be the assists man for both of them.

Overall I'd say Diaby is an 8.5 out of 10. He is not the perfect striker, mostly due to his weak foot and lack of physicality, and he is not a playmaker like Neymar. But he can do both very well and for me he tore my opponents apart. As a French his linkability is totally fine and especially with Nkunku or Wirtz it is no problem to get him into the squad.

  • Left foot, hits 100% of times
  • Pace obviously, even with the ball he outruns the defenders
  • Dribbling, due to his agility he is hard to tackle and can turn on a dime
  • Strength, if somebody catches up or gits a tackle he is weak and loses the ball often
  • Passing is okay, but nothing special
  • 2* weak foot

Diaby, the Dissapointment
By ReusThatsClassroom, 06-11-2021

First time i saw this card and i was like, hell, this is one of a card! looking at those stats is mental. also looking at those 2 weakfoot, don't really think it's that bad with those stats, so i bought him to link him up with nkunku, after i tried him for a couple games, wow he's like the shittiest cards i've played for that price, tried him in st, can't really score many goals bcs he can only score with his left, his wf feels like 0 wf, tried him in ram and lam, also doesn't do much his 80 passing feels llike 69 if u pass with his right foot, and also his composure is sooo low for an attacker, always lose the ball, always lose his first touch and so, tried many st and lam / ram like ben yeddy, politano rttk, vini gold, dembele gold, and he is no where near them imo, so conclusion : it's just not a good card for his price, also his stats just looks on paper, if u try him ingame, he just feels like his normal card, but with a little upgrade,

-shooting : his shooting is the only difference between him and other wingers or even striker, his shooting is just mental. his longshot wth marksmen chem is also great, but when u use shoot his right foot, he can only score tap-ins and goals that are guaranteed

-passing : his passing is also a great upgrade, really smooth passing, but only if u pass with his left lol, his right foot pass misses everything, cant even pass to the st even if the st is open wide

-pace : not too much different from his gold, but pace is what diaby's good at so yea

-dribbling : even his dribbling downgrade is not too much comparing to his shooting upgrade, it's fells like a biggg downs, he doesn;t dribble the same way, that most cards does, idk why but most cards with the same dribbling stats as him, does even better, also his composure is already low, but they downgraded it more

-physical : not much too say, even tho he got an upgrade in his physical, it's just not enough imo, but marksmen will do the job for u

-price : i'd honestly use godl vini, gold rashy, or dembele for his price, the difference between him and them are just his shooting

-weakfoot : i've tried cards with 2 wf but really, it doesn;t feels as bad as him, he just feels like he has 1 wf (same like robben last year imo)

Controller Destroyer
By jayzeus12, 03-12-2021

Picked this guy up to play the LF in my French hybrid squad and he did not disappoint at all. For 53K on ps4, you can't find a much better attacking player. I use a marksman on him in a 4321 mostly, although I have used him anywhere on the left side when switching up formations in game.

He is pretty much a left footed Mbappe. Super quick of course, but pair that with 97 attack positioning and he is absolutely lethal. I run him up front with the Flashback Benzema and sometimes I feel bad for my opponents when they have to make a decision between them on the counter attack. His dribbling with a marksman is on point and it feels much higher than his stats lead on.

He has 92(+7) finishing with the chem style and 91(+5) shot power and 70(+10) long shots. That combination makes him the best LF in the game for me. At least that I can afford. Benzema is absolutely amazing and if you did the SBC for him, Diaby is the rational choice for the left wing.

Another good thing about Diaby is his strong link with Nkunku, who is also an amazing player to have in the squad.

2* Weak Foot, but his left foot is so good, he doesn't need it. You need to be aware of it in the passing game, but shooting it feels like he has outside foot shot trait and always takes it with his left.

DIABY REVIEW
By bence2806, 14-11-2021

I brought this card after he caught my eye in the Rulebreakers promo and also fit perfectly into my team and he has been amazing in my past matches in div 3 (5 goals 8 assists in 13 games as a LW). True his 2 * weak foot makes him too predictable, but overall he is an amazing card for under 100k

  • 96 pace (This guy is too fast, can outpace meta players like Kimbembe and Lacroix)
  • 91 shooting with marksman (amazing shooting with left, weak foot is a big problem though)
  • 90 dribbling with marksman (ball is glued to his feet)

  • 2 * weak foot is a constant problem but is the only problem
