Thiago is fantastic box to box playmaker who provides a strong defensive presence. In a three man midfield in a 4-3-3, or as a member of a two man double pivot (i used him in a 4-2-3-1), he functions as strong ball carrier out of defense who is capable of progressing the ball into the opposition half himself, or passing the ball to other players on his team to build an attack. He is a very press resistant player, as in real-life; the 5-star skills, agility, deceptive pace and physical presence makes him perfect as the attacking oriented midfield player in your team. Functions well in a defensive capacity, but would not rely on him solely as a defensive midfield. I paired him with Future Stars Caqueret, and they were a perfect tandem in midfield. Thiago's movement, due to his acceleration and agility, is very similar to kante's, (more so than caqueret's) and had great defensive animations due to having the dives into tackles animation. Probably the play that sums this card up was a goal he created in the 90th minute of a FUT Champs game, where he intercepted a ball off UCL MOTM Kante, ran down the wing, outmuscled the pusuing Kante and threw him to the ground, and played a pinpoint cross over Flashback Varane for my Prime Torres to head in the winner.
Has Quite a few Pros
Pace - His awkward looking pace split was never and issue. His acceleration and ability to strafe made him feel like Kante, and he recovered quickly into defensive positions and into passing lanes
Agility - Feels nimble on the ball, which allows him to evade defenders and to quickly engage in defensive situations.
Finishing - If on his right foot, and in the box, he will finish the chance. Made consistent late runs into the box and regularly finished chances. Scored a Hat-trick in FUT Champs for me in a game i lost 8-4
Passing - is a fantastic passer and pacemaker. Rarely loses the ball and retains it well under pressure
Defending - Is a very capable defender, great tackler and intercepter who is also strong enough to off-put defenders and force them off the ball
HEADING - Perhaps the best surprise of this card is his Jumping and Heading ability in defensive situations. Any time an opponent cleared the ball out from defense, i had full confidence in Thiago's ability to win headers at the half way line against strikers or outside the box against opposing midfielders. His 96 Jumping feels completely true, and i think it is a game changing attribute for the card as it allow you to regain the ball and continually reapply pressure to a team
The two notable cons are
Cost - The Liverpool Tax is real with Thiago; i paid 543,000 and he's currently at 470k, he'd would maybe be worth it at 300k, but TOTS is around the corner. Did Curtis Jones as a straight swap for ~185k fodder and that card is at a comparable level to this one. Jones is not quite as good as this card, but for the cost, Jones is worth it over this card
Weak Foot - Three star is noticeable, especially in the penalty area, not helped by his 77 Finishing. Missed some chances on his left foot, but is otherwise clinical in the box on the right foot.
