The Moroccan Hakimi

I am aware that reviewing this card might not be the most popular choice, especially with all these other (major leagues) juiced up TOTS cards around the corner but I packed Mazraoui untradeable and thought why not give him a try. I tested him as a RB (4-1-2-1-2 narrow) and a RM in a 3-5-2 and was really surprised by how good this card feels. I used an Engine chemistry style because I wanted to get the most of his dribbling/passing and pace especially as a RM and the lean bodytype makes him really smooth. He takes sharp touches when on the ball and can switch directions quickly while defending. But let me tell you he surprised me the most when it came to his defensive workrate, which is low accoriding to his bio. This guy however does track back automatically (with the right instructions ofc) ingame and won't leave your right side exposed like other RBs do. Now here's the thing, I mainly used Hakimi TOTY before (untrade) - is he on the same level? No.... BUT he actually comes surprisingly close and considering the price I highly suggest everyone who can link him to just give him a try, as you might be surprised. I used him in Div Rivals (Elite Div) only if that helps.

price, PACE, ingame DRIBBLING, agile DEFENDING, good defensive workrate ingame, lean bodytype

links, lack of shooting capabilities (for the RM in a 3-5-2), lack of skillmoves

Feels nice
By burneracc, 03-05-2022

play him next to boscali (SBC) put maestro on him and in game have him playing midfield on a 4-1-2-1-2 (2) he feels so nice as a cm

i start with a 4-5-1 to get chem then in game switch 4-1-2-1-2 (2)

links to new cb SBC

pace, dribble and with a good chem style you can play him as a cm or cdm with his overall stats

long shots are prettly low so play him as a cm rather than cdm to he him new the goal with his fast pace

3 star skill moves but he feels nice with the ball sticks to his feet most of the time

Pazraoui
By GaryBatty, 02-05-2022

I tried out Mazraoui because he fits my team perfectly and have been bored of using ShowDown Darmian for a while now. I like my fullbacks to overlap and get forward, and I thought Mazraoui would certainly be better than Darmian at that. Personally, I didn't really find much difference since I don't tend to dribble with my fullbacks much, and Mazraoui's passing wasn't hugely noticeable to be better than Darmian. The main reason I did not like this card at all is the work rates. The high attacking work rate was great for him getting forward on the overlap, but on the defensive side he was noticeably lacking, or worse, not even trying to get back and my 91 Nkunku was playing RB half the time with Mazraoui refusing to get back after being on the attack. To make the defensive side worse, his physical and defensive attributes are worse than Darmian's too, so for my team personally I just felt like he was a massive downgrade in what I wanted from my fullback, because as much as I like them to overlap, it is obviously a necessity that they can defend as well, and Mazraoui just didn't deliver on that front. I won't even say that isn't because his defensive stats are bad either, he's just never in the position to use them because of the workrates, so Darmian is back in my team for now until I can afford a different RB.

However, I will say that for 25-30k, there aren't many right backs that have as good attributes in the game for this price range, it's just that for me already having Darmian in the club and liking him a lot, this card performed nowhere near as well for me in terms of what I wanted from my RB.

I'd say if you can link him he's probably worth a try, and you might find him a lot better than I did, but I really didn't enjoy using this card and quickly went back to my old RB.

  • Pace is good
  • Really good crossing and passing
  • If you want your fullback to get forward and overlap, the shooting is better than most RBs if you find yourself in a position where there's no option but to shoot with him
  • Really cheap
  • Workrates kill the card (for me) as he's never back to defend
  • Difficult to link unless using Timber/Gravenberch/Antony (I had Timber CB in my 4-2-2-2 starting formation to link him on full chem)
  • Many alternatives that are probably better at this time of the game that are easier to link with better stats
  • Low-ish strength was noticeable very often even with an anchor
  • Even with an anchor, the pace being lower than most meta fullbacks was noticeable
  • Weak foot (This is mainly a comparison with Darmian as he as 5* so maybe not a massively fair con)
  • Defensive positioning and just getting back in general was so bad for me, but this may be a product of the workrates and not using my fullbacks on stay back instructions (although I've never had this problem with Darmian or my LBs, which have been either 91 Roberto Carlos or 88 Theo Hernandez)
