Another review coming since there aren't many for this legend.
As a Chelsea fan, N'golo Kante is one of my favorite players. Thankfully I packed him shortly after the game came out this year. I decided I would try him before selling him, and he just hasn't left my club since.
Kante plays very much as he does in real life. He is quick, good on the ball, is all over the field but always in the right spot when needed, and he just runs and runs forever.
A few points to start. I play in Div 2 and usually get my 8 wins in champs then throw the rest. I use Kante as a CDM and have tried him there in multiple formations, either alone or with a less defensive CDM beside him. I use a Shadow chemistry style on him.
The main highlights for me with this card were
Pace. Yes, he has 78 pace or 88 with Shadow applied (Whether or not I believe pace on chemistry styles applies aside here). Kante is very fast in-game I feel like the smaller players with high agility just seem to move around so quickly. I'd never guess he had the pace on his card if I didn't know better.
Dribbling. His dribbling is 82 on the card, which doesn't feel quite accurate. He's not Vini Jr, but he can certainly get around someone in a 1v1 or slip through midfielders while running.
Physical. Standing at a whopping 5'6 N'golo Kante doesn't seem like much of a physical threat. He does have 97 stamina which is probably one of the biggest highlights of the card. It's very assuring to have a defensive player still sprinting at full speed in the last 15 minutes of the game. His aggression also stands out. Despite having 72 strength, his 93 aggression allows him to bully players off the ball. He might not be knocking Lukaku off, but players with mid-range strength can get laid out by him at times.
Defending. Massive highlight. At 87 defending (94 with Shadow applied) Kante absolutely holds down the midfield, and at times seems to sit right in front of my defense as he does in real life. His interceptions combined with defensive awareness are ridiculous, as he always seems to be at the right place when you need him to stop a through ball His tackling is also amazing. A simple stand tackle near a player receiving the ball will almost always get the ball away from the attacker, if not right into Kante's feet.
Kante does exactly what I want from a defensive midfielder.
His passing is manageable, but not at the point where I want to launch 30 yard over-the-top balls with him or try to pick out a player on the opposite side of the field.
His shooting stat at 66 feels like it's 66. Occasionally the ball lands at his feet off a bad clearance from a corner and I just have a shot with him. He can usually at least get these on target, sometimes scoring a worldie, but it is absolutely not reliable.
His height isn't great obviously as he is small, but due to his aggression, he will often push people back from headers and take the ball.
2 star skills and 3 star weak foot are definitely low points. The weak foot isn't as big of a deal, as I don't do too much on the ball with him, and clearance from either foot will save you. Skills probably don't need anything said about them, but outside of a ball roll or two, I wouldn't try to skill especially under pressure.
Overall Kante is a menace in-game and has saved me from conceding plenty of times with his interceptions or last-ditch tackles. I see him as a purely defensive midfielder, but if you need extra help defending, he's a game changer.
My first review as I've only just realised how to do one, Kante is what you'd expect, doesn't matter what anyone says he's incredible, pace, strengh, defending and even dribbling.
As there's no placement games this year Ive battled my way to div 1 with this guy and he has literally been the difference for me in so many games.
The only con I can find with this guy is his range of passing, short passing is great but as the distance increases the chance of a misplaced pass multiplies very quickly although ive only used a shadow on this guy. A catalyst might be the way to go.
Absolutely insane packed him untradeable and hes been in my team since he intercepts litreally evrything wins all the headers even though hes 5ft 6 because of his great aggresion as long as you dont push him forwards hes insane
I was very fortunate of packing Kante in the beginning stage of the game, and decided to hold on to him as his price kept on rising. Now, after 60 games with him, I've reached the point that I should be able to give my verdict on him. I will start with the impact he has on my team. He is defensively dominant, I have not found any other players yet being able to hunt down opponents like he does. He makes me feel safe whenever I need to defend. He is agile, fast and sturdy which makes him easy to control.
He however also is responsible for 90% of the reasons I need to start defending. His passing is abominable and unpredictable and will end back in the opponents possession if I need to pass further than 5 meters with him, restarting the cycle.
In comparison, I use KDB next to him and the contrast in passing has never been this big before in previous fifa editions. As I want to switch to a more attacking formation and just want to use 1 cdm I'm not sure if I want to keep him or want a more reliable passer on his position.
He is everywhere
Unpassable in 1 vs 1 situtations
Unmarked in attacks which creates a surprise for opponents and he does finish some chances
Fabinho was sent to the market and I entered the divisions with anticipation
After 6 matches, I have conflicting feelings. On the one hand, this is a great cdm, but on the other hand, I don't understand his price.
I will try to show in comparison with Allan that there is no big difference between cards for 18k and 460k
Speed
Of course, Kante is fast, he can insure fullbacks and he is faster than Allan, faster by 440k, no
Passes
No problem, not Pirlo, but doing his job, just like Allan
Defending
Honestly, I don't feel Kante as good as last fifa
Yes, it is still good at culling and interceptions, but it lacks height
Previously, I did not notice this, but he does not have time to the ball after a strong pass, and since I crawled to the 6th division with my average skills, this problem becomes very acute
Speaking about selections, I would like to say about physics
Against wingers or not very strong players, there is no gap, ran up and took away
But players like Haaland can easily push him away, which I did not notice with Allan
In the end, maybe these are my quibbles and lack of skill, but I did not feel a strong difference from Kante, as, for example, after replacing Richarlison with Rashford
His price is a maximum of 300k
For people willing to spend that much money on cdm, I would recommend considering players like Essien or Makelele
Where do I start? I'm sure my opinion of Kanté won't be a very popular one, but I just have to say that he is trash. He's so trash that he made me log in to my account after months of not being logged in an write an essay about how trash he is. I even got him untradeable and I call him Mr. 300k because I can't understand why people pay that much for him. He literally plays like a average 80-rated card. He's just there and intercepts the ball from time to time just like any gold midfielder would do. But where is the Kanté that hunts down his prey?? The Kanté thats alway standing there, where you need him?? The Kanté that bullies meta attackers off the ball and always catches the opponent off guard?? Don't ask me... because I don't know. Kanté literally has the in game strength of a newborn. Maybe I have too high expectations. But how can a 78-rated OTW-Camavinga literally have a bigger impact on the game than the fifth most expensive gold card in FIFA and arguably the best CDM for the last five FIFAs? Kanté was so unterwhelming that I had to bench him for a card twelve ratings lower than him and now the passes actually reach their target and I concede less goals beacuse my team as a whole defends better. Idk.. if you want to buy him, do it, he can't be that bad, it just wouldnt make any sense why he's so expensive. Maybe because hes untradeable he knows I wont quicksell him and therefore has freedom to play as shitty as he wants for my team, who knows. I wonder if anyone has had the same experience.
