A superb CAM who leaves top defenders with twisted knees.
People are so quick to write him off because of pace, given his starting position as a winger. However, changing him in game to a CAM makes him one of the most deadly to play in that role.
Mahrez is famed for his dribbling in real life and EA have replicated this IG so well. Just using left analogue dribbling (no real need for high level skill moves) he can wiggle past even the sweatest of drop back defences. He is able to find a through ball or a low driven pass into a tight area with seemingly no fuss.
As I wanted him to create more than score, I used Catalyst rather than the suggested Hunter. Given he only really shoots from inside the box, his shooting stats are fine. I feel the benefit from that increase in passing stats.
For a card that is currently well under 20k, I would say he is brilliant value for money, if used in the right position.
Dribbling
Agility
Composed passing in tight areas
Starting pace
Cannot be used as a winger
Stamina is on the low side for a CAM, has to be subbed off last 20 minutes of a game.
Let me start by saying I would've never have thought to write a player review on futbin but here I am. That speaks volumes enough to tell you how much of an impact mahrez has made. In a different world, this man is nowhere near 10k. He plays far beyond his price tag of around about 8-13k coins. The only reason he made it into the squad was that I temporarily needed a filler RW from the prem to play a free-roaming attacking role. At CM he did alright not bad but average, however, he felt really nice so I put him at CAM and it made a world of a difference. This man along with rashford and werner as a front three have allowed me to sweat my way to the elite division.
As a stay forward CAM in a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow, he exceeded my expectations tremendously. I used a deadeye chem style to boost shooting and passing as the central CAM.
-Shooting is class and finesse shot trait as an added bonus. Green timed finesse shots inside the boxes are definitely going in, shots outside the box are pretty good as well.
-Passing is also reliable doesn't misplace a pass very often, I like to play fast one two-touch football and mahrez is lovely at it.
-Silky smooth dribbling and skill moves are nice and consistent.
-Physically he's alright but with the player build combined with his agility and balance, incredibly jammy wriggling his way between defenders inside the box.
-81 pace is very usable but if you'd like a bit more then I'd go with a hunter.
-Defensive wise he's surprising at times, could occasionally stick in a good tackle high up in the field in the press.
It's the start of November and people already have some crazy teams so I wouldn't expect many of you to have him in your starting 11 but for those of you in need of a cheap but QUALITY CAM, MAHREZ IS YOUR MAN.
Insanely smooth with the 5 star skill moves
Left stick dribbling super sticky
Shots inside box very reliable even with weakfoot
Finesse shot trait
Jammy as hell
Pace is nothing special without a hunter or pace chem style but still very usable
Stamina will die off at about the 60th min needs to be subbed
