Player Review
86 - Flashback SBC
One thing I like to do when the game releases is to go and look at the cards of some low rated former stars who may be in line to get a flashback or moments card. There are usually some hidden gems in there. But one player who stood out to me was Pedro. Being a 78 rated CF with 4* 5* and some quite nice dribbling stats already it was clear he would be a fun card to see upgraded and use for a while. So imagine my surprise when he appears as the first flashback of the year!
So how is Pedro in game? Well as aforementioned he already possesses some key attributes in his favor. Chief among which are his body type, WF/SM combo and key dribbling base stats. These are all present and, in the case of the dribbling stats. improved. The pace, shooting and stamina boosts are key towards his style of play here. Unfortunately he is a LW and not tremendously suited to that role so will need to be moved central in game to realize his full potential. He performs best as either a central or narrow left/right bombardier. Owing to his fantastically sticky feet and sharp turning ability he is excellent at carving past heavier and more clumsy centre backs. His acceleration is best utilized in short bursts through a back line. I would not recommend long straight runs with Pedro as this inhibits his strengths. He is not a fast player but more of an agile player. Think less samurai sword and more scalpel. What Pedro offers is an ability to create something out of nothing. This brings us on to the next part of Pedro that perhaps separate's him from the field of similar players such as Insigne. His end product. What takes a decent dribbler and makes him an out and out game changer is his ability to outfox opposing players. He has 5* WF, can shoot from close or far and can cross, pass or even dribble past defenders and keeper. Your opponent will never be absolutely sure what you will do with Pedro once he has created the chance for himself. Especially considering his shot choice is also a headache for the defending team. Outside foot and Finesse shot mean he is capable of smashing or stroking the ball past a keeper.
So there it is, Pedro, a specialist tool that can be capable of a surprising amount of different utilizations. I have just one word of warning for you. Don't expect to shrug off challenges should you find yourself between a rock and a hard place. Much like a scalpel he is sharp and precise, but doesn't hold up well against the hammering of challenges. For this reason I find him best paired with a more physical forward such as Anderson Talisca as shown in the squad.
- Extremely agile
- Difficult to predict
- Fairly easy links
- Very good 'info' stats (4*5*, Short and Lean, Finesse and Outside foot trait)
- good value for coins
- Weak, easily pushed off the ball
- Likely to be superseded by other players in due course
- Best position is not LW so in game adjusting is required.
