Hey guys,
Firstly, I want to state that I am a Div 2 player (played him in div 3 bc of reset) and average rank 5 in champs so take in this review how you see fit.
Team used in: CAM in 4-2-3-1 narrow. Attacking partners: Gold Mbappe (ST), RTTF Diaby (LAM), WW Payet (yes still stuck on him xd, RAM)
State of card: I first used hawk on him but I realized that I don't like the explosive running style on him so I switched to marksman (this is what I'm basing my review on) and haven't switched since. He currently has 16 goals and 11 assists in 9 games (All champs qualifiers and div 3 rivals)
I've always wanted a french 5*5* to play in the CAM position is a 4-2-3-1 narrow due to the links that it provides to my team. Thus, I wanted Ginola but after not packing anyone so far that has an extremely high market value and after pulling absolute fodder in the 9 hero picks that I did, I decided I was gonna jump at the chance to acquire this relatively expensive Nkunku card. And to be honest, this man has NOT disappointed me in the least. Before getting Nkunku I played WW payet, then I switched to mid Best, then to POTM Ben Yedder and I can safely confirm that Nkunku is leagues above all of them playing in that CAM position. Here is my full review:
PACE(9/10):
This man has extremely smooth dribbling and is really fast. If you play a proper through ball in for him no defenders are catching up. Furthermore, if you elastico or scoop turn and get space he'll definitely be able to push the ball into the opponent's third with his pace. I mean of course, he is not mbappe he won't be able to simply just outrun defenders for the fun of it but I do think that he has more than enough pace for this stage of the game especially if you're not all that competitive and you don't require 99 pace for all your attackers.
SHOOTING(9/10):
I rarely see him miss the target while in the box and if you green your shots they pretty much always go in. His outside the box shots are also extremely nice and he netted a couple beautiful trivelas. For the CAM position he certainly has more than enough shooting and I don't think you'll find any issues with it. Oh and 5 star weak foot actually feels like a 5 star weak food just in case you were wondering.
PASSING(8/10):
I left the passing on his base stat (87) and it's more than enough.Solid all around passing (crossing, through balls, etc.) and nothing more to be said.
Dribbling(10/10):
Dribbling is absolutely INSANE he feels sooooooo smooth on the ball and he performs his skills moves very fast and effectively. Left stick dribbling and r1 is absolutely insane and he feels very agile and fast. Furthermore, he's pretty jammy so I see big defenders like lucio and Van Dijk push him off the ball and sometimes they genuinely can't. Nothing to complain about in this department as his gameplay in this aspect is crazy good.
DEFENDING(5/10):
His defensive stats for my style of play was more than enough and honestly added a bit of jam to the card, which led to reacquisition of the ball in my opponent's box many many times. That being said, he rarely wins headers. I didn't try him as the RCM in a 4-3-2-1 so I have no opinion about that, but from what I've heard he feels even better defensively in that position so if that you want to try go right ahead.
PHYSICAL(6/10):
He has enough stamina to last the entire 90 minutes. That being said, he is not the strongest player, but that's not was I expected from this card so it didn't bother me in any way. He will surprise you once in a while but don't expect him to be weghorst or something lol. As mentioned above as well, aerial ability is not consistent at all so if someone lob passes the ball in his direction just say GGs.
But yeah I think that's about it. My final thoughts is that he is nearly worth every bit of fodder ESPECIALLY if you are in my then-position of needing a 5*5* french player. I won't lie and say he is slightly overpriced ( I think 750k range would have been better) but he's still worth it. If you are on the fence about it just go ahead and do it bro like sure he's not an end game card or anything but he's very fun to use and a very solid card. That being said if you can afford GInola, Zidane or his PTG, (probably the only french 5*5*s that genuinely better than him imo) get those instead; otherwise go ahead and do his sbc. At first when I did the sbc I thought I'd heavily regret doing this card but... I was very wrong this card in game is unreal, his 5* skills feel incredible and allows him to create great chances. I used Nkunku in a 4-2-2-2 and played him at CAM and I currently have 55 games played with 71 goals and 65 assists. The price of this card while being high and might be a little scary for only an 89 rated player, trust me the price is very justified for how he plays.
His skill moves feel very smooth in game despite having an average body type, His shooting is definitely better than his stats suggest, If and when he looses the ball his decent defending stats let him press and regain possession really well, Card plays better than any Team of the Season I've used so he's still a great option at this stage.
His price is the main con about the card as 700k is a lot of coins for most players, his only other con in my opinion is that his physicality can be really inconsistent as some games he won't get knocked off the ball while some games he could get knocked off the ball by a feather.
Honestly, at first i don't want to make it but i got a lot of fodder so welcome Christopher! In game, i play him CAM or CM in a 4321 and he is actually pretty good. He remember me his 88 Potm last year but now he has the 5/5 so it's a big upgrade.
