Player Review

89 - PL POTM SBC
5.0
HMS Cruise Through Div RIvals
By Davlaaaar, 19-10-2023

The start of a new FIFA or in this case "FC", always brings an early, highly expensive POTM card to try and sling all of your fodder in to as well as any early game coins you've done your best to farm. In this case for me it was Heung Min Son.

Whilst not being a Spurs fan, Heung Min Son is one of my favourite current world footballers; and the opportunity to obtain what already looks like the start of the endgame card this early, was too good an opportunity to pass up on. After relinquishing my fodder and watching my coin balance dwindle from the high 400k mark, down to having to quick sell any cards left in my club to obtain Sonny, I felt an air of enthusiasm wash over me. Knowing deep down I'd made the right decision.

To sum Sonny up, this is the first HMS card I have used since FIFA 17 that has felt like the card it deserves to be. With the electrifying pace, his dribbling feeling like a ballet dancer and his shooting being, well to put it simply... insanity, no doubt due to the Finesse Shot Playstyle+, it's safe to say he is without a doubt the most raucous and fun card I think I have ever used in any FIFA or FC game to my memory.

I have tried Sonny in a few positions so far, being deployed as a striker, left winger and even as a CAM when shuffling around in game. Whilst he can do well in all of these positions, the striker position is really where he shined the most. Using an Engine chemistry style to boost his balance which on the face of it can be off putting, as well as the small boost to his pace and other dribbling and physical attributes, this seemed to work the best for me. And with 81 goals and 16 assists in 43 games, so far, the right decision was made easily.

As previously mentioned, Sonny's pace shooting and dribbling are all fantastic and a welcome additions to a card that hasn't felt incredibly usable in recent games. One thing that notably surprised me was his jumping and heading ability, something I never expected, but now always look for the back post when the chance arises and I get caught out wide.

Strength - 6/10 - Can be very easily thrown off the ball at times

Club links in the early game for decent cards, other than POTM Maddison are limited... at the moment!

OVERPOWERED!!! (Gold Son Heung-Min)

I'll just start off by saying that I've tried him in multiple positions including LW, LM and CAM and he definitely feels the most effective when playing ST, I currently play him as a central ST in a 4-3-2-1 formation and he's an absolute blessing, the finesse+ playstyle is so broken this year and he stands at the pinnacle for it, crazy good player. The only con would be to link him if your team is a hybrid, but I've had no ...

The Finesse abuser

Quite expensive, i don't like spending a lot of coins on one player but i have to do it this time for this guy. Especially for the Playstyle+ which is beyond broken right now. I used him as a LAM in a 4231, mainly for speeding on the wing and cutting back in and trying that finesse shot. That shot is right on target everytime, it's crazy. Sometimes the keeper will save it but if he's a little bit too far from his line, it's...
