With the web app only days away let's build the hype some more! Here is how we feel TOTW 1 could look. Lewandowski leads the way with additional strong IF’s in Karchaoui, Alvarez and Vlahovic being the stand-out options.
Lukas Hradecky - GK - 81 > 85 OVR
Seven saves / Munich 2 - Leverkusen 2 / 1 Kicker Rating
Despite conceding twice Hradecky looks to be the best keeper option this week. His seven saves ensured Leverkusen upset league favourites, Munich, by taking a point. Hradecky was awarded the maximum Kicker rating due to his performances which saw him save his side on numerous occasions.
Mats Hummels - CB - 83 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Freiburg 2 - Dortmund 4 / 1 Kicker Rating
Hummels is a fan favourite at Dortmund despite changing allegiance earlier in his career to rivals Munich. His performances have been better for his current club however and two goals this weekend should result in an opening week IF for EAFC.
Wendie Renard - CB - 88 > 89 OVR
One goal, one assist and clean sheet / Le Havre (F) 0 Lyon (F) 4 / 8.8 Sofascore Rating
We are yet to see how the addition of the female sides will change the TOTW selection process but I would expect a few to be included every week. Renard looks nailed on if we were to compare directly with other defenders and seeing as she enters the game as an 88-rated CB I can't see her missing out.
Sakina Karchaoui - LB - 86 > 87 OVR
Goal, two assists and clean sheet / Bordeaux (W) 0 - PSG (W) 3 / 9.4 Sofascore Rating
Two high-rated French women look set to hype up the new additions to the game, especially Karchaoui who will be a very usable LB early on. The French LB was involved in all three PSG goals as they recorded a 3-0 away win over Bordeaux.
Alexandr Golovin - LW - 79 > 83 OVR
One goal, one assist / Reims 2 - Monaco 2 / 8 L’equipe Rating
There were only a handful of Ligue 1 selection options this week which I feel will work in Golovin’s favour. Despite Monaco only managing a draw against Reims, Golovin was pivotal, directly contributing towards both goals.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan - CM - 81 > 85 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Inter 5 - AC Milan 1 / 8.5 Gazzetta Rating
A Derby della Madonnina to remember for Inter, who came away as 5-1 winners on Saturday. Mkhitaryan was the man behind most of the success, scoring twice and assisting another from the middle of the park. This match usually results in an IF and this time it was made easy by the Armenian.
Julian Alvarez - CAM - 80 > 86 OVR
Two assists / West Ham 1 - Man City 3 / 9 Sky Rating
Although Alvarez was signed as a promising striker for City the Argentine has begun to make the CAM role his own this season, putting in strong performances week after week. Saturday was another example with his two assists receiving the joint-highest match rating of the week.
Bryan Cristante - CM - 81 > 85 OVR
One goal, two assists / Roma 7 - Empoli 0 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
Roma recorded their first win of the season in style, inflicting Empoli’s fourth loss from four with a 7-0 win. The IF is far from obvious but simply must occur. Cristante is my punt after being involved in three of their goals.
Robert Lewandowski - ST - 90 > 91 OVR
Goal and two assists / Barcelona 5 - Real Betis 0 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
EA tend not to go too big on TOTW 1 with cards being difficult to get hold of for the majority of players but they usually include someone to promote the game. This time around I expect it to be Lewandowski who was involved in three Barcelona goals as they cruised to a 5-0 win at home to Betis.
Dusan Vlahovic - ST - 83 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Juventus 3 - Lazio 1 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
The highly hyped Vlahovic received a downgrade to his ultimate team card this season which shows how underwhelming at Juventus he has been so far. A brace this weekend against Lazio showed what he is capable of though and will inevitably result in an opening week IF.
Tarem Moffi - ST - 77 > 86 OVR
Two goals, one assist / PSG 2 - Nice 3 / 9 L’equipe Rating
Even without a featured upgrade, Moffi becomes one of the more desirable early-game additions. A featured upgrade would work wonders, especially with either an SM or WF upgrade going his way. After being named MOTM during Nice’s impressive win against PSG one thing is sure and that is Moffi’s place in this side.
Substitutes
Neto - GK - 78 > 83 OVR
Six saves and clean sheet / Bournemouth 0 - Chelsea 0 / 7 Sky Rating
Taking points from Chelsea is not as impressive as it used to be but that takes nothing away from the performance of Neto between the sticks. Making a total of six saves, the Brazilian secured Bournemouth their third draw of the season.
Tariq Lamptey - RB - 75 > 83 OVR
Two assists / Man United 1 - Brighton 3 / 8 Sky Rating
Several changes were made to the Brighton side as they faced United, Lamptey being one of them. The youngster took the opportunity to shine as he made the right flank his own. Providing two assists and causing constant problems, the Ghanian was named MOTM.
Salem Al Dawsari - LM - 77 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Al-Hilal 6 - Al-Riyadh 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
With the gulf in quality between half the Saudi division to the other there are likely to be IF candidates every week this season. Al Dawsari is an easy selection after three second-half goals helped seal the convincing win for Al-Hilal.
Bernard - CAM - 75 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Panetolikos 0 - Panathinaikos 5 / 9.8 Sofascore Rating
There were numerous hat tricks to cover this week made TOTW 1 more predictable than most weeks. Another to manage the feat is Bernard, who you may remember from his stint at Everton. The Brazilian now plays over in Greece for Panathinaikos and his hat trick helped them secure a routine away win.
Xavi Simons - CAM - 79 > 83 OVR
Goal and assist / Leipzig 3 - Augsburg 0 / 2 Kicker Rating
Leipzig signed well over the summer with both new additions Simons and Openda excelling this weekend. It is the former that I believe will pick up an IF though after being awarded MOTM with a 2 Kicker rating
Serhou Guirassy - ST - 77 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Mainz 1 - Stuttgart 3 / 1 Kicker Rating
Guirassy meant business this weekend scoring three times against Mainz as Stuttgart continued their good form early on. Now sitting in fourth after as many games fans will be eager to see if they can return to the stature they were once at.
Melissa Kossler - ST - 79 > 83 OVR
Hat trick and assist / Hoffenheim (W) 9 - Duisburg (W) 0 / MOTM
One of the biggest wins of the weekend came from the Womans Bundesliga with Hoffenheim notching nine without reply Kossler should get the nod after being involved in four of those goals, scoring three herself while claiming an assist on another.
