Have to give some credit where credit is due. The content these past few days has truly offered a nearly endless grind with the potential to significantly lower the cost of any of the plentiful SBCs that have dropped into the game. While Mbappe is simply out of this stratosphere in cost, Kenny Dalglish offered a more obtainable goal on a card that looked insane from the outset.
With the Thunderstruck ICON starting off as essentially an inform on the original ICON it was clear that the price tag was always going to be steep. The possibility of a 3 out of 4 win performance from Liverpool leading to another upgrade just adds to the value. Of course the comments will read, “wow, a 2 million coin card is good, who would have imagined”... and I completely agree… But this review is more interested in perfection, does the 2 million coin price tag equal the perfect 10/10 card? Anything less would feel like a gigantic waste of time, energy, and coins.
The 4-3-2-1 formation certainly shines the spotlight brighter on strikers and the hope was that King Kenny would preside over my squad and make the Weekend League grind feel more like a stroll. The ENGINE or HAWK Chemistry Styles immediately jumped out as good options and while the Shooting looks insane with the HAWK… the added Dribbling and Passing eventually won out.
King Kenny reigned supreme all weekend long in the following squad:
Overall
Rating: 10/10
When you constantly use the newest and brightest cards it is normal that they fall in an 8 or 9 category as the expanding meta often leaves previous cards lost in the sands of time. However, it is very very rare that a card comes around that is simply game changing and Dalglish is one of them. I knew the card would be good… but this was something special and the wins record, goals, and assists all back up this claim. It really makes me wonder just how insane POTM Mbappe must be.
Main Statistics – Shooting
Shooting Rating: 10/10
Weak Foot: ★★★★★
PlayStyles: Finesse Shot Plus, Trivela
Until such a time that the FINESSE SHOT PLUS PlayStyle is adjusted it will remain a top three PlayStyle for strikers and just edges it as number one for me. Salah, Griezmann, and Min Son have previously done the damage for me and this just felt on another level. The fact that I managed multiple left footed finishes that were identical to those on the right only extends how insane this card is from range.
The same 5 STAR WEAK FOOT is seriously lethal and just has a different pop of power behind everything that flies off of Dalglish’s foot. The 93 FINISHING & 88 SHOT POWER were actually a big concern to look at but there is something hidden about the way they perform and completely killed any further thoughts on returning to the HAWK Chemistry Style.
If the FINESSE wasn’t enough the TRIVELA PlayStyle further adds to the attacking weapons and overall there are just too many ways to hurt opponents which leads to overplaying and open space… You score a finesse shot or even attempt one… The next time down your opponent over plays that space and you cut inside and pile drive a left footed finish into the close or far post… Almost impossible to predict and contain.
Value/Coins
Value/Coins: 5/5
As stated for 2 million It had to be perfect and overall it is not only perfect, but sits so high above the power curve that you can have your starting striker well beyond TOTY if you so choose. By that time there will be comparisons, but this card is a borderline complete cycle option. It is worth noting that Liverpool’s next three matches offer much weaker opponents than their title rivals were yesterday… A further PlayStyle and Inform would only extend on this card’s dominance. RAPID, DEAD BALL, TRICKSTER, FIRST TOUCH… They all add an additional weapon and further build on the overall performance.
Good vs. Bad
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5
It truly was a masterclass throughout the weekend and here were the top highlights from a complete and dominant performance.
+ 95 AGILITY, 97 BALANCE, and 96 DRIBBLING on top of the FLAIR & QUICK STEP PlayStyles and it probably isn’t the biggest surprise that this card feels unbelievable on the ball. The 96 ACCELERATION and EXPLOSIVE AcceleRATE combine to explode out of the dribble and the 93 SPRINT SPEED proved enough to mind the gap between the space and defenders.
+ For me it was the Passing that sealed the ENGINE Chemistry Style as the 80 VISION, 89 SHORT PASSING, 60 LONG PASSING were the area I thought would doom this card. The only explanation I have is the hidden statistics that many feel in different ICONs and top end meta cards… The Passing with Dalglish must be loaded with them, because he zipped everything into feet and generally connected my attack with ease.
The one area where a card that is 173cm | 5’8 with with 68 STRENGTH is going to struggle in the physical battles that occur throughout a match. Luckily the Dribbling and Pace meant these interactions were few and far between.
- Still worth noting that there definitely are not hidden statistics here and what you see is what you get, but it honestly proved difficult for defenders to lay a hand to Dalglish throughout the review. If anything, the thing that caused the most issue was an inability to play out of trouble in the air… An area where a taller target striker can benefit pressure relief significantly.
Closing Words
More quits than I have experienced in Weekend League in a long time and it was primarily down to the relentless goal rush that Dalglish put on this weekend. The variety of goals, the different scoring distances, and most importantly the ability to create his own chances through Pace and Dribbling made Dalglish everything you would want out of a 2 million coin striker. If you get on the grind it is possible to complete this one in time and the reward is a well-above-the-curve talisman pulling the squad forward through the Weekend League quagmire. Those last two bonuses aside, you won’t be disappointed.
Hoping you are well. Cheers for reading
