FC 24 92 Dynasties Icon Zinedine Zidane Player Review

The Ultimate Dynasties promo rolls on and already the Tim Oberdorf counter has reached double digits.  Unfortunately none of the big names have fallen into my pack luck and so we went to the next best thing, crafting one of the key big names similar to what we did with Thunderstruck Dalglish (which after Liverpool’s late winner over Palace, is looking like an even better choice).

I am going to be completely honest that I was immediately skeptical about the quality of this card… Past versions of Zidane have always underperformed for me and normally feel well below their quality, especially in movement.  However, it was within minutes of the first match that it was clear how different this version of the French legend feels on the ball.

In the version of the 4-3-2-1 formation that I utilize there is one CM spot designated for a box to box midfielder and looked perfect to give Zidane a solid overall test run.  The application of the HUNTER Chemistry Style was applied to try and squeeze the most out of Zidane’s attacking qualities, with the hopes that the defensive contributions would not be too hindered overall.

Zidane earned the Dynasty label all review long in the following squad:

Overall

Worth doubling down on just how good this version of Zidane feels in comparison to those I have used in the past… This was most noticeable in the Pace and Dribbling which have literally held this card back in previous versions of the game.  From there it was all uphill and Zidane just went from strength to strength; I can only imagine how insane the 95 feels in the game.

Main Statistics – Shooting

Shooting Rating: 10/10

Weak Foot: ★★★★★

PlayStyles: Finesse Shot, Trivela

Even with the FINESSE SHOT nerf I haven’t really noticed much of a drop off in quality, perhaps one or two more saves from keepers or shots from distance missing the target… But overall the PlayStyle still causes damage and with Zidane this was no different, even without the Plus upgrade.

The 5 STAR WEAK FOOT feels like a true 5 STAR and the 93 FINISHING & 88 SHOT POWER after the HUNTER application transferred from either foot.  The 88 LONG SHOTS were just as lethal and the few volleys I hit were laced with all of the 99 VOLLEY statistics behind them.

For those that are dead set that the FINESSE PlayStyle has been affected to a point that they would avoid it, Zidane has the TRIVELA in his locker as well and resulted in a few goal contributions as well.  Zidane can simply pull goals from any position and even added a header goal to his tally as well.

Value/Coins - Fodder

Value/Coins - Fodder: 5/5

If you remove the SBC aspect of this card, then Zidane is just about the perfect value for coins when compared to the 94 Base version.  If you simply enter the base statistics for Zidane it is surprising that he stands alone as literally the only card… Which I get is a bit misleading with only +1 Pace on the 95, but that is still a fact.  92 Zidane is currently on the first page of In Game Statistics rankings and overall feels like you are getting the fantastic quality that you are paying for.  If you remove the coins value and look at the card as an SBC I think it really starts to show value when you consider the two months that you have to grind this card if you want to work towards a game changing midfielder.  All around it just feels right.

Good vs. Bad

Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5

I could go on and on about the quality with this card, but a brief overview of what to expect from each category feels like the best choice.

+ The 94 ACCELERATION was a key to the success in this review as the “stuck in the mud” feeling that generally plagues Zidane felt all but obliterated.  Likewise the 75 AGILITY & 81 BALANCE felt far from debilitating and over this card was smooth and quick to transition on the ball.  The TECHNICAL & FLAIR PlayStyles contribute their own quality to Zidane but I truly believe the FIRST TOUCH PlayStyle Plus is the star of the show and honestly speaks to what a good addition PlayStyles have been to the game. The quick dribble transition adds to the initial burst and makes Zidane feel responsive on the ball.  All of this quality and still haven’t got around to even mentioning the 5 STAR SKILLS… That is the level.

+ The Pace, Dribbling, and Shooting all work great, but it might have been the Passing that took this card above and beyond.  The INCISIVE PASS & LONG BALL PASS PlayStyles are both so effective and that is before even discussing statistics.  92 SHORT PASSING & 91 LONG PASSING only facilitate the insane 92 VISION and simply carve open defenses for fun.

+ While Zidane is certainly an offensive threat I was quite impressed with the defensive moments in game.  Zidane uses the Pace boost, 89 STRENGTH and Defending statistics he does have to contribute to his defensive duties when called upon… Truly a Jack of all trades.

Honestly there wasn’t much to gripe over with this card in the end, but perhaps…

- The 92 SPRINT SPEED did require turns and cut backs away from much faster defenders across the review.  Yes, he feels way better than past versions… But you simply aren’t outmatching NIF Van Dijk for pace with Zidane… But really, who is?

Closing Words

Scoring 7 and adding 4 assists across 5 matches from midfield is a ridiculous stat line and really speaks to the offensive output that Zizou can deliver… The HIGH ATTACKING WORK RATES really did encourage Zidane to take full advantage of his Get In The Box instructions and the positions he took up were fantastic.  The ability to grind and work towards this card is certainly an added bonus and offers a place to invest some of that hard earned fodder, with the guarantee of a fantastic, squad altering return.

Hoping you are well.  Cheers for reading
