FC 24 TOTW 17 Predictions

By Aaron
08-Jan-24 11:28

There were only a handful of divisions available for selection this week with the likes of Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and the Premier League among the notable absentees. There are still a few players worth mentioning with Rudiger’s solitary goal, Guijarro’s brace in a ten-goal spectacle and Mayra Ramirez’s impressive 86-rated card.

Andrea Consigli - GK - 79 > 83 OVR

Two saves, penalty save and clean sheet  /  Sassuolo 1 - Fiorentina 0  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

Sassuolo shocked fourth-placed Fiorentina with a 1-0 home win. Consigli can claim a lot of the praise though with a couple of crucial moments in the match ensuring the Italian maintained his clean sheet. It was the penalty save that should push him over the line for the IF though with Gazzetta awarding him a respectable 7.5.

Alessandro Buongiorno - CB - 77 > 85 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  Torino 3 - Napoli 0  /  7 Gazzetta Rating

Napoli walked Serie A last season finishing a colossal 16 points ahead of second. This season is a completely different story with the reigning champions down in 9th. This 3-0 loss to Torino showcases the difference in only a year perfectly. Buongiorno scored the third to put the icing on the cake in a superb Torino win.

Antonio Rudiger - CB - 85 > 87 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  Real Madrid 1 - Mallorca 0  /  7.7 Sofascore Rating

A Rudiger special has been highly anticipated this season, with the German obtaining one of the best CB NIF’s. As Rudiger is without a promotional inclusion thus far, he can receive a featured upgrade. After scoring the only goal during Madrid's 1-0 win it's a likely occurrence as well.

Danilo - CB - 81 > 85 OVR

Assist  /  Salernitana 1 - Juventus 2  /  7 Gazzetta Rating

Last placed Salernitana were only minutes away from claiming a high-profile point against the old lady but a 91st minute Vlahovic winner supplied them with yet another loss. Danilo provided the assist on said goal while receiving the joint highest match rating of the game.

Daley Blind - CB - 77 > 83 OVR

One goal  /  Girona 4 - Atletico Madrid 3  /  7.7 Whoscored Rating

Although it is a case of forcing an inclusion I simply couldn’t ignore Girona entirely this week after their seven-goal thriller with Atletico Madrid. The hosts continue to defy all odds, continuing their title chase. Blind scored one of Girona’s goals while being among the highest match ratings.

Marcus Edwards - RW - 80 > 84 OVR

Two goals  /  Sporting 5 - Estoril 1  /  9.9 Sofascore Rating

With extremely few leagues in action this week it allows the Portuguese division to pick up a few IF’s. Edwards is an easy selection after his brace helped Sporting Lisbon maintain the top spot with a comfortable 5-1 win over Estoril

Patricia Guijarro - CM - 88 > 89 OVR

Two goals  /  Barcelona (W) 9 - Levante (W) 1  /  9.1 Sofascore Rating

Barcelona are simply on a different level to everyone else in this division. Now with 13 wins from 13 matches and a plus 56 goal difference after their 9-1 win. Several players found themselves within the goals but I would expect the IF to go the way of Patricia Guijarro. Especially if EA plan on including Putelles over her in TOTY.

Cengiz Under - CM - 78 > 86 OVR

Four goals  /  Istanbulspor 1 - Fenerbahce 5  /  10 Sofascore Rating

The majority of the time the featured upgrades go to those in the main divisions while also obtaining an attractive card. Occasionally a performance will come around which does deserve such an upgrade though. Under scored four goals from RM for Fenerbahce this week with the Turkish midfielder having the game of his life.

Matt O’Riley - CM - 75 > 83 OVR

One goal, one assist  /  St Mirren 0 - Celtic 3  /  9.6 Sofascore Rating

The first of two Scottish Premiership players to make this side, not a sentence you will hear often, is Celtic’s Matt O’Riley. The central midfielder controlled the show on Tuesday and with both a goal and an assist to his name stands a decent chance of making EA’s side

Mayra Ramirez - ST - 83 > 86 OVR

Hat trick  /  Villarreal (W) 0 - Levante (W) 5  /  10 Sofascore Rating

EA have been very hesitant about including multiple female options in TOTW, especially from the same division thus far. With the lack of options this week they have no option than to include a few more in TOTW 17. Ramirez excelled for Levante on Saturday, scoring three as they recorded a comfortable 5-0 away win.

Cristina Martin-Prieto - ST - 78 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  Huelva (W) 1 - Sevilla (W) 3  /  8.7 Sofascore Rating

As much as I wanted to include alternative strikers to Liga F there were just not any stand-out performances. So rather than include a punt on a striker with a single goal I opted for yet another from Liga F. If EA does want to limit the number of inclusions it will likely be Martin-Prieto who ends up missing out though.

Abdulkerim Bardakci - CB - 77 > 83 OVR

Two goals and clean sheet  /  Galatasaray 3 - Konyaspor 0  /  9.4 Sofascore Rating

There were a couple of exceptional performances in Turkey this week. Bardakci was one of them, scoring twice from CB for Galatasaray, helping them towards a 3-0 home win. Usually at least one of these would miss out but thankfully they should get in with ease this week making my life a lot easier.

Pepelu - CM - 78 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  Valencia 3 - Villarreal 1  /  8.4 Whoscored Rating

Usually, I would be hesitant to include a brace which consists of two penalties but under the circumstances, I would say Pepelu is locked in for TOTW 17. The Spaniard scored twice from twelve yards as Valencia secured a 3-1 home win over Villarreal.

Jamie McGrath - LM - 65 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  Ross County 0 - Aberdeen 3  /  8.7 Sofascore Rating

I was a little hesitant to award a player outside of Rangers and Celtic an IF from the Scottish Premier but after Bair’s inclusion into TOTW 16, it makes the decision easier this week. McGrath found the net twice as Aberdeen beat Ross County 3-0

Valentin Carboni - CAM - 60 > 83 OVR

Goal and assist  /  Frosinone 2 - Monza 3  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

Monza get overlooked for IF’s regularly due to a lot of their players being non-gold. With Serie A and La Liga being the only two top-five divisions in action this week I think EA will overlook the fact that Carboni is a bronze. The Argentine scored once and assisted another to claim a 7.5 from Gazzetta

Sheila Guijarro Gomez - ST - 72 > 83 OVR

Four goals, one assist  /  Valencia (W) 1 - Atletico Madrid (W) 6  /  10 Sofascore Rating

The high-scoring games in Liga F keep on coming, this time a 6-1 win for Atletico Madrid while striker, Gomez managed to be directly involved in five of those goals! An easy selection for this week's side.

Nuno da Costa - ST - 71 > 83 OVR

Hat trick  /  Besiktas 1 - Kasimpasa 3  /  9.2 Sofascore Rating

It’s safe to say that Besiktas won’t be competing for the title this season after yet another loss sees them 15 points adrift of the top two. It was the Nuno da Costa show on Friday with the Cape Verde striker scoring all three Kasimpasa goals during the 3-1 away win.

Sergio Camello - ST - 75 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  Getafe 0 - Real Vallecano 2  /  8.8 Sofascore Rating

It was a complete horror show for Getafe who found themselves 2-0 down and down to 9 men after just 50 minutes played. Camello’s brace was enough for the away side to pick up all three points though with the game pretty much dying off after the second red.
