FC 24 93 Icon George Best Player Review - Cop or Flop?

I wanna be the very… Yeah you already know who it is. Following on from our Flashback Bruno Fernandes Review earlier on, George Best has a TOTY Icon item and it has surprisingly also been released tonight as an SBC. 

The TOTY promo is the gift that keeps on giving. There are some incredible Icon cards in this promo. Even the “worse” players in the team look incredible. We’ve had daily Icon SBCs so far but I was not expecting EA to drop a TOTY Icon SBC on Day one so I just absolutely had to get my hands on this card.

One big change in this promo is that the items released are coming with a second Playstyle+ for the first time this year which can only lead to an exciting change in the power curve. Best is among those players to have been given an addition Playstyle+ and that is the First Touch playstyle.

George has been given a boost of +3 in overall card rating. Along with that he has also been boosted up to 5* skills. Both of which are a very welcoming site to what looks to be on of the best wingers in the game… Pardon the pun.

What I really like about this card is that he can play RW, RM, LW and CAM which makes slotting this guy into your team incredibly easy. So into the team he went joining the attack force of Mbappe and Martinelli.

Part of my was tempted to go with the Hunter Chemstyle for this card to go all out on boosting pace and shooting but I opted for the Engine Chemstyle as I feel it was more important to get some boost to the passing.

Now obviously, a premium card is going to come with a premium price tag. With 16 segments this SBC is coming at just under 1.7 million coins to complete. But don’t let that scare you because we have around 9 weeks to complete this which means there is plenty of time to chip away at this SBC.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Dribbling was absolutely phenomenal on this card. Left stick dribbling specifically felt really good thanks to the high agility and balance.
+ Best felt absolutely rapid especially when making quick bolts down the wing.
+ His shooting was incredible as well. He finished shots with ease and of course performs the very OP trivela shots very well.
+ Passing/ Crossing was quite impressive on this card, he was able to put a good amount of power into his passes and whip the ball into the box to assist some great goals.
/ Strength is the only thing I could probably pick out that isn’t amazing on this card but that is easily countered by his great overall dribbling.

George Best - Cop or Flop?

Previously my favourite winger in this game was Martinelli due to the way he plays on the wing, I now think Best has taken that spot because if you enjoyed Martinelli then you will love Best. All this card is missing is the Finesse and/or Trivela Playstyles and this would be one of the most broken cards on the game.

Yes this card is expensive but I think it’s absolutely spot on. This would be a card that can stay in your team until the end of the game. The fact he can play in various positions as well is a huge bonus. And with the inclusion of him getting a second Playstyle+ this for me is a must complete. I will say I do wish he had a different playstyle as i’m not a huge fan of the First Touch playstyle but still, this is an incredible card and definitely worth completing.
