With a double game week for the Premier League expect TOTW 21 to be dominated by the division, with six selected in this prediction. Once again there is a lack of stand-out candidates but with EA’s latest TOTW boost meaning 85’s are the lowest there are some usable players. Headling we have Watkins, Gundogan and Garnacho.
Brice Samba - GK - 81 > 86 OVR
Three saves and clean sheet / Nantes 0 - Lens 1 / 8 L’Equipe Rating
Although three saves may not sound like a lot they were pivotal saves to ensure Lens came away with all three points. L’Equipe saw the importance of the stops, awarding Samba an 8/10 and in turn making him the keeper of the week.
Yuri Berchiche - LB - 79 > 87 OVR
Two goals and clean sheet / Athletic Club 4 - Mallorca 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
An easy inclusion into TOTW 21 comes with Atletic Club’s Berchiche after the Spaniard scored twice from LB alongside helping towards the clean sheet. With the base IF now coming in at 85 even without the predicted featured IF this card will likely be among the best LB’s in the division.
Fabian Schar - CB - 82 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Aston Villa 1 - Newcastle 3 / 9 Sky Rating
Newcastle became the first side to win at Villa Park this year with a 3-1 away win. Despite their poor form Newcastle started strong on Tuesday with a first-half brace from Schar carving the path for their victory. Sky awarded the Swiss international a 9/10 setting him up for his first IF.
Maximilian Mittlestadt - LB - 74 > 85 OVR
One goal / Freiburg 1 - Stuttgart 3 / 2 Kicker Rating
Bundesliga was a division with only a couple of realistic options this week, with Kicker providing a lot of low ratings. Mittlestadt comes as a bit of a punt with his NIF only being a silver, but seeing as the minimum rating is now 85 and Undav is unavailable due to an IF last week I can see the German’s goal from LB being enough for an inclusion.
Eugenie Le Sommer - LW - 84 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Lyon 4 - Reims 1 / 9.3 Sofascore Rating
An early trailblazer inclusion was the only special item for Le Sommer so far but with nine goals in eleven matches, it was only a matter of time before another arose. TOTW 21 has potential for her inclusion after a brace from LW helped guide Lyon to a 4-1 home win.
Lovro Majer - CM - 79 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Wolfsburg 2 - Hoffenheim 2 / 2 Kicker Rating
Wolfsburg managed to come from behind twice to steal a point from Hoffenheim this weekend. Majer was the player to score both Wolfsburg goals, gaining himself a 2 from Kicker and a spot in their TOTW.
Ilkay Gundogan - CM - 86 > 88 OVR
One goal, one assist / Alaves 1 - Barcelona 3 / 8.3 Sofascore Rating
We saw a huge pace increase on Kroos earlier in the week making him an in-demand card. That is exactly what Gundogan also needs. Although he won't get the required boost here it will help him on his way. A goal and an assist should be enough for the German to receive his first IF.
Alejandro Garnacho - RM - 75 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Man United 3 - West Ham 0 / 8 Sky Rating
Manchester United are far from the powerhouse we saw during SAF’s era. Ten Haag often receives a lot of stick from fans but another comfortable win this weekend sees the Red Devils climb to sixth in the table. A Garnacho brace helped United to leapfrog West Ham in the table.
Joselu - ST - 82 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Getafe 0 - Real Madrid 2 9 Sofascore Rating
Real Madrid often plays without an out-and-out striker but they went away from that trend this week, opting for Joselu to lead the line. The Spaniard made his claim to start more often with a brace helping Real Madrid to a 2-0 win.
Ollie Watkins - ST - 80> 87 OVR
Goal and two assists / Sheffield United 0 - Aston Villa 5 / 9 Sky Rating
After a poor result against Newcastle, it was pivotal that Villa bounced back away at Sheffield. They did exactly that with a convincing 5-0 away win. Watkins was involved in three of those five, claiming MOTM with a 9/10 in the process.
Jonathan David - ST - 81 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Lille 4 - Clermont 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
There were only really a couple of options from Ligue 1 and thus I expect both to end up making EA’s side. David was one of those after the Canadian striker scored two of Lille’s four goals during a convincing 4-0 home win.
Michele Di Gregorio - GK - 79 > 85 OVR
Six saves and clean sheet / Udinese 0 - Monza 0 / 7 Gazzetta Rating
While EA continues to select two goalkeepers I shall continue to predict them. The trend seemingly came from nowhere before this streak it occurred on only a couple of occasions. Di Gregorio is my second keeper after the Italian made six saves during a bore 0-0 draw.
Conor Bradley - LB - 69 > 85 OVR
One goal, two assists / Liverpool 4 - Chelsea 1 / 8 Sky Rating
Bradley was practically an unknown name only a couple of months ago. Still, with a couple of injuries in the Liverpool squad in the LB position, the youngster got some opportunities. He has excelled since then and poses the question of who will start now for Liverpool even with Robertson back. With three attacking returns against Chelsea this weekend he surely justifies his position.
Taylor Booth - RW - 69 > 85 OVR
Hat trick / Utrecht 4 - Volendam 2 / 8.5 VI Rating
One of the best performances of the week came from the Eredivisie with Booth scoring three goals from the wing during Utrecht’s 4-2 home win. The American received a huge 8.5 VI Rating, making him one of the highest of the season so far.
Eberechi Eze - CM - 79 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Palace 3 - Sheffield United 2 / 9 Sky Rating
Palace needed three points against Sheffield to avoid finding themselves in a relegation battle. Despite falling behind twice, they battled to a 3-2 win. Both Eze and Olise excelled but the former claimed MOTM and thus is likely to be selected by EA for his brace.
Matheus Cunha - CAM - 78 > 85 OVR
Hat trick / Chelsea 2 - Wolves 4 / 10 Sky Rating
Pressure continues to build on Pochettino as Chelsea fan's frustrations continue to show. Wolves were the latest side to take advantage of their poor form coming away as 4-2 winners. Cunha scored three of those, claiming a perfect 10 from Sky
Caroline Moller - ST - 77 > 85 OVR
Hat trick / Real Madrid (W) 7 - Valencia (W) 1 / 8.9 Sofascore Rating
There are often high-scoring results in Liga F, another occurred this weekend with Real Madrid hammering Valencia 7-1. A couple of options present themselves for an IF but after scoring three I feel that Moller is the best selection.
Elijah Adebayo - ST - 72 > 85 OVR
Hat trick / Luton 4 - Brighton 0 / 9 Sky Rating
Luton were heavy favourites for relegation upon gaining promotion to the Premier League but continue to surprise in the division and look increasingly likely to stay up as a result. A dominant 4-0 home win over high-flying Brighton moved them out of the relegation zone with an Adebayo hat trick standing out on the day.
