We finally saw a respectable TOTW last week, but this one makes that look poor in comparison. With eleven players rated 86 and above, FUT Champs is going to be a competitive place to be this week. Headlining the lineup are Haaland, Ronaldo, Wirtz, and Guijarro.
Aubrey Kingsbury - GK - 83 > 86 OVR
4 saves and three pen shootout saves / Washington 1 (3) - Gotham 1 (0) / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
EA continue to force an NWSL player into each promotion, and with limited games available now due to the division being deep into the playoffs, Kingsbury seriously stands out. It was one of the quickest penalty shootouts you’ll see, with Kingsbury saving all three of Gotham’s attempts to help Washington progress.
Denzel Dumfries - RB - 82 > 86 OVR
Goal, assist and clean sheet / Netherlands 4 - Hungary 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
With the first SIF now over the line, we should see more as the weeks go by. The gap was a mere four weeks with Friegang, so Dumfries being five weeks shouldn’t be an issue. The Dutch defender scored once, assisted another, and contributed to a clean sheet.
Sara Doorsoun - CB - 84 > 86 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Hoffenheim 0 - Frankfurt 1 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Central defenders were few and far between this week, and with Germany offering very little additionally, it makes sense to include Doorsoun, who ticks both categories. Although her goal was from the spot, it was the only goal of the game, with Doorsoun going on to claim MOTM.
Lucas Digne - LB - 79 > 86 OVR
Two assists / Italy 1 - France 3 / 9 Sofascore Rating
With Rabiot not yet in the game, his brace can’t be acknowledged. Luckily, there is another deserving candidate in Digne, who provided two assists from LB as France bounced back from their disappointment against Israel to beat Italy 3-1.
Patricia Guijarro - CM - 88 > 89 OVR
Two goals / Real Madrid 0 - Barcelona 4 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
Barcelona continue to show why they are so dominant in this division with a 4-0 away win over second-placed Madrid, making it ten from ten. Guijarro looks set to add to their growing list of promotional items, having scored the first and second of their four goals.
Lindsey Horan - CM - 86 > 88 OVR
Four goals / Lyon 11 - St Etienne 0 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Horan’s SBC card could cause issues here, but I simply can’t see how EA can ignore this performance. The Arkema division obviously has a gulf in quality between the top teams and the rest of the division, but with four goals from CM during an 11-0 win, Horan simply must receive her SIF.
Florian Wirtz - CAM - 88 > 90 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Germany 7 - Bosnia 0 / Kicker MOTM
We don’t see as many high-scoring matches now that we have converted to the Nations League format for international breaks. Germany did manage one this week, though, smashing Bosnia 7-0. Wirtz showed exactly why there is so much hype surrounding him, with three goal involvements to claim MOTM.
Brahim Diaz - RM - 82 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Gabon 1 - Morocco 5 / 8.1 Sofascore Rating
Morocco continues to dominate their qualification with a 5-1 away win over second-placed Gabon, making it five wins from five and securing an eight-point lead at the top. Several players stood out from the match, but Diaz is seemingly the favorite for the IF, having scored two of the five goals.
Alexander Isak - ST - 85 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / Sweden 2 - Slovakia 1 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
With both Sweden and Slovakia sitting on ten points prior to this fixture, it was a match likely to decide who wins the group. Sweden came out on top with a narrow 2-1 win, in which Isak was involved in both goals. A goal and an assist are usually not enough for a striker, but with international weeks providing a significantly smaller sample size, Isak does stand out.
Cristiano Ronaldo - ST - 86 > 87 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Portugal 5 - Poland 1 / 8.6 Sofascore Rating
We saw with Salah last week that total rush players can now receive IFs, so Ronaldo should be nailed on for TOTW 10. The Portuguese icon continued his goalscoring form, leading a highly talented side to a 5-1 win over Poland.
Erling Haaland - ST - 91 > 92 OVR
Hat trick / Norway 5 - Kazakhstan 0 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Some claim Haaland is in a goal drought, but his hat trick against Kazakhstan takes him to eight goals in his last eight games, highlighting the high standards the Norwegian has set for himself. Man City will hope that goalscoring form continues post-international break, though.
Substitutes
Daniel Peretz - GK - 72 > 83 OVR
Eight saves and clean sheet / France 0 - Israel 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
While a few star names were missing from this French side, it was still a phenomenal result for Israel as they managed to hold France to a 0-0 draw. This was largely thanks to Peretz, who made eight saves in total and was named MOTM. With Peretz playing domestically for Munich, I fully expect him to make this side.
Omar Alderete - CB - 77 > 83 OVR
One goal / Paraguay 2 - Argentina 1 / 7.3 Sofascore Rating
Although Alderete received a rather mediocre match rating, with Paraguay shocking Argentina with a 2-1 win, I expect them to receive an IF. Alderete is the obvious candidate on paper, so it makes sense for it to be him.
Lucy Bronze - RB - 85 > 86 OVR
Assist and clean sheet / Chelsea 2 - Man City 0 / 7.4 Sofascore Rating
The WSL IF was not an easy decision this week, and we could easily see a random inclusion as a result. However, with first playing second, I couldn’t ignore that fixture. Bronze was the only player I could justify, as she provided an assist during Chelsea’s 2-0 win.
Mehdi Taremi - CAM - 80 > 84 OVR
Three assists / North Korea 2 - Iran 3 / 8.9 Sofascore Rating
Taremi did miss a penalty that would have cemented his spot in TOTW, but after providing all three assists for Iran during their hard-fought 3-2 away win over North Korea, I still feel he ends up making the cut. EA have been big on three assists so far this year.
Christoph Baumgartner - CAM - 80 > 84 OVR
One goal / Kazakhstan 0 - Austria 2 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
With sides playing twice this week, it’s possible that EA takes both matches into consideration. If so, Baumgartner stands a good chance, having scored once and claimed MOTM in the opener while providing an assist during a 1-1 draw in the second. His first-match performance alone could sneak him in.
Conor Gallagher - CM - 81 > 85 OVR
One goal / England 5 - Ireland 0 / 8 Sky Rating
The red card early in the second half completely changed this match, with the score at 0-0 before that moment. The floodgates then opened, with England scoring five without reply. England often receive an IF from these international breaks, and with Bellingham being unavailable, Gallagher, who also received an 8, looks a good choice.
Ayoze Perez - ST - 79 > 84 OVR
One goal, one assist / Denmark 1 - Spain 2 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Towards the final few positions, it became increasingly difficult to fill the side. Pérez was one of the final names to make my prediction, but his goal and assist during a 2-1 away win still represent a strong performance.
Reserves
Facundo Mura - LB - 71 > 83 OVR
Two goals / San Lorenzo 1 - Racing Club 2 / 9 Sofascore Rating
Antonio Nusa - LM - 72 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Slovenia 1 - Norway 4 / 9.3 Sofascore Rating
Matthew Garbett - CDM - 64 > 83 OVR
One goal, three assists / New Zealand 8 - Vanuatu 1 / MOTM
Ivonne Chacon - ST - 70 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Betis 1 - Levante 2 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Duckens Nazon - ST - 68 > 83 OVR
Two goals, two assists / Sint Maarten 0 - Haiti 8 / 9.7 Sofascore Rating
