FC 25 91 Future Stars Best Player Review - Cop or Flop

Sadly the TOTY promo is over and that endless grind of spamming packs has come to a close. But it’s time to look to the future.. Future Stars as a matter of fact! The Future Starts promo has begun and as we finish aiming for the stars of today, it’s time to look at those of tomorrow!

As the SBC for today, it’s a former future star? Well it’s Future Stars Icon George Best! Whilst the concept doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, I won’t complain about additional cards within the game! But this SBC drops with poor timing as the constant flow of fodder seems to have dried up for now. Here’s hoping that EA drop more SBCs for us to play with to make picking these kinds of cards more easily obtainable.

Not a massive upgrade from the base card here which is a little bit concerning for me considering what looks to be a massive price difference. A +1 overall boost with simple +1s & 2s across the board for his base stats. A boost to 5* skill moves along with an additional Playstyle+ in the Incisive Pass playstyle.

For Chemstyle here I would recommend either the Engine or the Hawk. I personally went for the Hawk to boost his Physical stats but the Engine certainly is a more favourable option otherwise.

16 segments in total here which certainly is a nice change from the 23 segments we have been getting in the likes of Bale and Mbappe.. But the cost currently coming in at 1.5m is a little steep in my book. Of course, he has the additional playstyle+ and the skill move boost but his base card is on the market at 340k and the stat difference is incredibly minimal. One interesting thing to note is that last year around a similar time we also received a George Best SBC and that was the TOTY Icon version. It arguably had better playstyle+s, it was 2 ratings higher and it was cheaper than this SBC. I know he’s a popular player so that likely plays into the price tag but he is going to have to absolutely “wow” in-game in order to justify the 1.2 million price difference. 

How did he perform in-game?

+ Dribbling was absolutely phenomenal on this card. Especially when utilizing technical dribbling.

+ Best felt absolutely rapid especially when making quick bolts down the wing. When receiving a pinged ball from the fullback he would very often make quick turn and bolts past the opposition to break through with ease.

+ His shooting was incredible as well. He finished shots with ease and did a great job at the shots across the keeper.

+ Passing on this card was also exceptional as when using the incisive pass he set up some easy goals for the striker.

/ Strength is the only thing I could probably pick out that isn’t amazing on this card as his low strength and body type could let him down against tougher defenders.

Best - Cop or Flop?

This one might feel a little bit cop-out-ey but in order to say whether or not this one is worth it ultimately comes down to whether or not EA releases more repeatable upgrade SBCs similar to the 82x20 that make completing this SBC a little more easier. He’s incredible in-game but honestly, I can’t get past the price tag. Especially when we’re very likely going to get some similar cards for free during this Future Stars promo.

It’s also very much worth noting that the price of fodder has taken a massive boom since promo release due to the fact packs have gone from an incredible open rate to almost nil. But for me, this one isn’t a must-complete SBC and is only worth the pickup if we get back our SBC grind. Otherwise, save your fodder/coins.
