FC 25 92 Flashback Reus Player Review - Cop or Flop

We’re now into the second week of the Immortal promo and yet again we have had an absolutely unreal set of players drop into packs with some I can only dream of packing! Eusebio, Pele, Zico and even Rooney! All look phenomenal. But from current Icon cards to a future one?

The SBC for today sees a Flashback Marco Reus with his first special card of FC 25. Now before I even get into the upgrades.. How have we had a Flashback Reus that cannot play on the wing? But regardless, this card looks really nice. A great set of playstyles on him too!

Stat-wise wise we can only compare to the base item so overall he’s had a +11 boost with a massive boost to Pace, Defending and Physicals. Thankfully he didn’t keep the Chip Shot+ and it has been replaced with Finesse and Incisive Pass+. He’s also received a skill move boost up to 5* skills. Reus is forever a fan favourite item so i’m sure many will be looking forward to trying out this item. But for me, something just feels off about this card and I can’t quite put my finger on it.

The chemstyle of choice could be argued about being kept as the Basic, however I have opted for the Hawk in order to further boost the Pace, Shooting and Physical stats.

Here are the following segments to unlock the Flashback Reus SBC:

5 segments in total here with a slightly positive upvote-to-downvote ratio from our community. The price tag is coming in at slightly over 200k to complete and honestly, I could be alone here but I think this SBC might be slightly overpriced. If this card was on the market, it would likely be a quarter of the price. The card itself doesn’t look overly flashy to me and the lack of Quick Step and/or Rapid is outrageous to me. Not even to mention he plays for the MLS. So outside of Icon/Hero links, this card presents a slight challenge to link into our squads. I think he has to be absolutely outstanding on the pitch to be worth completing.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Shooting was probably the best feature of this card. Utilizing Finesse is always an easy win and his finishing is absolutely class. He can score goals with ease as he also has Trivela, Low Driven, Powershot and Chip shot playstyles in his back pocket.

+ Passing on this Reus card was incredibly clean. Taking a quick first touch and then pinging a through ball with Incisive Pass was incredibly effective for setting up easy goals.

+ Dribbling was nice due to a blend of Trickster and Technical. He had the ball glued to his feet and worked magic around the opposition to break through them.

/ Whilst his Pace was okay, for a Flashback Reus card I expected him to be a fair bit quicker. The absence of Quick Step/ Rapid is real evident on this item.

- I felt almost catfished by the Strength and overall Physicals. I knew he wouldn’t be a brut player, but with 90 strength, I figured he would be able to hold his own. But he was constantly overpowered by a large majority of players and it caused majors issues for me in-game.

Reus - Cop or Flop?

Reus is a beloved player who certainly brings a high level of nostalgia for us veteran Ultimate Team players. But for whatever reason, he just hasn’t ever seem to end up with an elite card through these past few years on Ultimate Team. For me, this item looks outdated and screams the need for an evo to get it more usable. But being 92-Rated is going to leave us waiting for that.

The missing LM/LW position, the last of pacey playstyles and the odd mix of Playstyle Pluses. I said earlier that something feels off about this card and while he has some great attributes. He just is outdated and won’t make an improvement to a large majority of teams. That mixed in with a 200k price tag when really he should have been less than half of that.. This one is a miss for me unless you have the spare fodder and want to collect some nostalgic items. But if you want a player to upgrade your side, this isn’t it.

Verdict = FLOP
