TOTW 28 PREDICTIONS

With the International break taking over the domestic fixtures this week we always have the possibility of seeing some unlikely names entering the mix when it comes to the TOTW lineup. With that being said, we also need to be careful and ensure that we diversify as much as possible when selecting the players, ensuring we cover a variety of leagues, positions and nationalities. With that being said, let’s get into our week 28 predictions!

N.B. Sterling had an Inform in TOTW 26 and hence is very, very unlikely to be included in this one!

Starting Eleven

Pyatov

We kick start this weeks predictions as usual, with our first goalkeeping nomination of the week. Ukraine were away to Portugal for their first match this week where they took home a point with a 0-0 draw. This could have been a very different story however if it wasn’t for Pyatov’s heroic performance in goal, earning him his spot amongst the elite.

Varane

Let’s push the boundaries a little with this one, and pick a player that is perhaps a little riskier than most of our nominations. France picked up a 4-1 win over Moldova in the week, and despite not managing to keep a clean sheet, Varane is sneaking into our predictions. A goal, solid performance and the fact that he is yet to receive an upgrade this year is enough to convince us that he is in with a chance this week.

Umtiti

Ok, so some may argue that this is rather unlikely however we at FUTBIN love to believe in the impossible! France were hosts to Iceland for their second International fixture this week and despite picking up a massive 4-0 win, we are actually left with very few options. Mbappe and Griezmann are extremely unlikely to receive another inform for just the one goal, while Giroud had a MOTM card released just 10 days ago. Umtiti however, is yet to receive an inform, kept a clean sheet and provided a goal, but asking for both him and Varane to feature may be a rather big ask.

Bailly

Ivory Coast played host to Rwanda last week, in a game that saw the home side picking up a very comfortable 3-0 win. With such a performance there are plenty of potential candidates to choose from, however our selection is none other than Manchester United’s centerback, Bailly. With a goal and a clean sheet, could this be the week we see a second inform, and yet another solid boost to his card?

Zakaria

Switzerland were on the road this week as they traveled to Georgia for their International fixture on Sunday. It looks like the journey was well worth it in the end, as they left with a comfortable 2-0 victory and all 3 points. The goals came from the midfield, with both Zuber and Zakaria scoring. As Zuber recently received an inform, our selection was much easier and we see Zakaria with a chance of his first inform of the season.

Barkley

England faced two fixtures this week and despite Sterling managing 4 goals, an assist and a hat-trick within the mix, his recent inform from TOTW 26 makes his inclusion very unlikely this week. Barkley however faces no such problems, and with England overcoming their rocky start against Montenegro, they came back to win 5-1 with Barkley scoring twice and providing an assist along the way.

Fortounis

Greece were away to Liechtenstein for their weekend fixture this week in a game that saw the visitors pick up the points with a 2-0 win. Fortounis was in absolutely sensational form on the day, controlling the match from start to finish. Not only did he opened the scoring with a goal in the 45th minute, but his continued dominance was the core that led Greece to the win.

Niang

Moving across to Senegal for this selection where they took home the points with a 2-0 home victory against Madagascar this week. The team performed well, however one man stole the spotlight on the day and cruises into our predictions. After scoring both goals and terrorizing the opposition from the very start, Niang could be receiving his first inform of the season this week.

Lozano

With an International week, predictions immediately become a lot more difficult as we are trying to diversify our picks amongst the nations, as well as the leagues in which these players play for. We do this because we know that EA likes to have a range of players within packs, providing something of interest for all FUT players. With this in mind, we head across to a match between Mexico and Chile, a match in which Mexico took the points with a 3-1 win. Moreno scored from the back, however we already have a couple of La Liga defenders included within our predictions, while Lozano was the man who opened the scoring, and has given himself an outside chance of yet another upgrade.

Depay

The Netherlands played twice this week, with a comfortable 4-0 win over Belarus and a very narrow 3-2 loss against Germany. Depay was brilliant in both matches, scoring 3 goals and assisting a further 3 across the 2 games. It may not have been two wins, however we simply cannot fault Depay either with his nomination being one of the most worthy inclusions this week.

Hazard

Just like most sides, Belgium had two International fixtures across the past week, however unlike most aides Belgium recorded a perfect record with back to back wins. Hazard once again reminded the world of his talent, scoring twice during their 3-1 win over Russia and once during their 2-0 win over Cyprus. With performances like these, it’s hard to believe that more clubs aren’t desperate for this man's signature.

Substitutes and Reserves

Hennessey

An early goal for Wales was all it took this week to see them secure the win over Slovakia. James put the ball into the back of the net in the 5th minute, providing fans with the games only goal. The rest of the match was actually fairly even, with both sides creating roughly the same amount of chances across the 90 minutes. Hennessey however really stood up when needed, making some big saves, helping to maintain the clean sheet and more importantly the win.

Glik

Poland faced Latvia in their second fixture this week, and after their win over Austria in the week they were looking to make it two wins from two. It was their superstar front man Lewandowski who opened the scoring, and their center back Glik who scored the second. When we then consider the clean sheet as well, we have yet another strong defensive candidate entering our predictions.

Schulz

Sunday saw a couple of giants go face to face in their second international fixture this week, as Germany traveled to Holland. The game was an end to end thriller, consisting of 5 goals and a very narrow win for the guests. Germany edged the victory with a last minute goal complimentary of their fullback Schulz, who also provided the assist for the first!

Tabanelli

Over to Italy now, where we take a look at their second division and a massive 7-0 win for Leece over Ascoli this week. With such a big one we instantly have numerous possible candidates for our predictions, however we have decided to go with Tabanelli who scored to from midfield and dominated the match from the very start.

Elmas

Macedonia were hosts to travelling Latvia for their first fixture this week, a fixture in which Elmas actually failed to make the starting eleven. Macedonia took an early lead in the 11th minute, but it wasn’t until the 23rd minute that Elmas entered the match. After coming off the bench he went on to play a fantastic game from the midfield, scoring not once but twice, while ultimately helping his side take the points with a 3-1 win.

Barella

Italy and Finland faced off in their weekend fixture, in a game that provided fans with just 2 goals. Luckily for Italy, both of these were in their favor, as they cruised to a very comfortable 2-0 win on the day. Barella had an incredible game from the midfield, not only did he play a critical role in controlling the match from start to finish, but he was also the man who opened the scoring and is truly deserving of his spot amongst the elite this week.

Zahavi

Israel played host to Austria for their fixture on Sunday in a game that provided fans with a massive 6 goals across the 90 minutes. Sadly for Austria, it looks like the trip may have been a waste, as they went on to lose the match 4-2, however in the process an Isralian hero was made. Zahavi not only provided the assist for the fourth but also scored the first, second and third goal, while cementing himself within this week’s lineup.

Accam

Over to America next, where we take a look at one of the domestic leagues that didn’t take a break. Philadelphia Union were comfortable 3-0 winners over Columbus Crew this week, and there was one man who was the standout superstar. Not only did Accam find the back of the net twice, he also provided the assist for the third, helping him glide into our predictions this week.

Cheryshev

After their 3-1 loss against Belgium in the week, Russia were looking to bounce back with an away fixture against Kazakhstan on Sunday. Judging by the scoreline, this is exactly what they did as they cruised to an extremely comfortable 4-0 away win. Cheryshev was in sublime form on the day, scoring the opening two goals and dominating the match from the very start.

Rondon

Venezuela traveled to Argentina for their fixture this week, and despite the hosts fielding a weaker team, they were still expected to pick up the win. Venezuela however had other plans and went on to secure a 3-1 win in style. Now there were no stand out performances, however with a team win like this, it only feels right to include a nomination. Rondon opened the scoring and hence gets our vote this week.

Tosun

Turkey played host to Moldova on Monday in a game that provided fans with 4 goals spread across the 90 minutes. Sadly for Moldova, not a single of these were in their favor as they proceeded to lose the match 4-0. Tosun was one of the players in fine form on the day, scoring twice across the match and causing nothing but trouble for Moldova’s backline.

Szalai

For the final selection in this weeks predictions we find ourselves focusing on a true underdog story, with a surprising end as well. Hungary played hosts to World Cup finalists Croatia on the weekend, and despite the match only having one outcome on paper, Hungary found a way to defy the odds. The match finished with a 2-1 win, and with Szalai opening the scoring, he is the man who gets our vote here.
