TOTW 27 Predictions

TOTW 27 is far from the best we have seen in recent weeks but with Fantasy FUT in full swing now it does add some additional strong cards into packs with potential for Son, PEA and Ben Yedder all looking very likely for the upcoming Wednesday team.

Goalkeeper

David Soria – GK - OVR 81>>84
Bilbao dominated Getafe this weekend but a 3rd minute goal from Unal and a superb display between the sticks from Soria was enough to see them come away with a point. Getafe were also reduced to 10 men in the 65th minute but they refused to be beaten with Soria making save after save, ten in total to keep the scores level. Despite conceding Soria seems to be nailed on for this week's side.

Defenders

Michael Keane – CB - OVR 80>>863
Everton has been in horrific form as of late and has dropped into a relegation battle as a result. The worst part of it looks to be their fixtures with their remaining games possibly the toughest of any remaining set. Their match against Newcastle was pivotal to their potential survival and it was a dramatic one at that. With a protester tying themselves to the goalpost it resulted in a long stoppage and Everton capitalized on that, scoring in the 99th minute to steal a 1-0 win. Keane was named MOTM and due to how much this result means to Everton in the long run I can see him picking up an IF.

Jose Fonte – CB - OVR 80>>83
Defenders were ridiculously difficult to predict as a whole this week and thus a couple of punts have had to be taken. One of those is Jose Fonte. L’equipe practically consisted of both Monaco and Rennais players and thus the remaining two options have both gone on to feature in my prediction. Lille scraped a 1-0 win despite going down to 10 men and Fonte was named MOTM for his performance during that, helping to keep the clean sheet intact.

Moussa Niakhate – CB - OVR 77>>81
Mainz added another blow to Arminia’s hopes of survival via a convincing 4-0 home win. Burkhardt scored two of those goals however it was Niakhate who was named MOTM with a 2.0 and although he would make a great featured option with a signature card already, he is unavailable for the double upgrade.

Midfielders

Heung Min Son – LW - OVR 89>>91
There has been a serious lack of special cards for Son this year with just two, both of which have single upgrades so far. TOTW 27 looks to have his SIF nailed on though after the Korean scored twice for Spurs as they continue their good form with a 3-1 win over West Ham. Kane was also involved in all three goals but with just two official assists to his name, I am positive that Son claims the IF.

Lorenzo Pellegrini – CAM - OVR 81>>84
Roma will inevitably claim an IF on Wednesday after their impressive 3-0 win over rivals Lazio but it could be either Pellegrini or Abraham who ends up receiving it. Both players picked up an 8/10 from Gazzetta but with Abraham being involved in a recent promo alongside the fact that competition was much tougher from strikers than midfielders I would expect Pellegrini to be the player included this week.

Koke – CM - OVR 85>>86
The past few seasons have seen a plethora of Koke special cards however the Spaniard is yet to receive one during FIFA 22. That could be about to change though after he scored the solitary goal during Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win this weekend. He is fringe, to say the least, but with a lack of La Liga options, I can see him sneaking his way into the side.

Domenico Berardi – RW - OVR 82>>87
It has been a relatively successful season for Sassuolo of whom currently sit just outside of the European spots. Berardi, as is often the case has been a huge figure for them and this weekend was no different. The Italian scored twice from the right wing as they recorded a 4-1 home win over Spezia with Gazzetta awarding him MOTM with a 7.5

Forwards

Wissam Ben Yedder – ST - OVR 84>>87
Despite having a seemingly uncatchable lead at the top of Ligue 1 PSG would not have wanted to lose to Monaco this weekend. Especially In the fashion, they did, losing 3-0. Ben Yedder was named MOTM after scoring two of those three goals with L’equipe awarding the striker an 8/10. Alongside some laughable PSG ratings, with 4 being given a 2 while 3 were given 3’s.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang – ST - OVR 85>>87
Aubameyang is well and truly back at his best and it is clear to see how unhappy he was at Arsenal. The Xavi era is underway and it looks very promising. Their latest result is the biggest yet under the legends management, a 4-0 win over Real Madrid, away from home as well. PEA scored twice and assisted another although this would be just a four-week gap. I think that is enough under the circumstances though and with Torres being the next best option, who definitely can’t feature it makes sense to go with the striker.

Francesco Caputo – ST - OVR 78>>84
Although not as exciting as the other two striker options this week, talking strictly from a card base stat value Caputo really doesn’t look that bad. The Italian took his total to nine for the season this weekend with Sampdoria recording a 2-0 away win over Venezia. Gazzetta awarded the striker a 7.5 making him MOTM and thus we should be seeing a SIF for Caputo.

Substitutes

Jonas Omlin – GK - OVR 77>>81
There have been some simply ridiculous performances from Ligue 1 keepers this season with Lafont just a few weeks ago claiming only the third 10 match rating in L’equipe history although Omlin didn’t receive a 10 he was not far off with a 9 and simply speaking it could have easily been a 10 too. Montpellier went down to 9 men with red cards in both the 39th and 45th minutes despite being 2-0 up. That left them with a huge effort to salvage anything from the match let alone a win. It was a challenge that they more than met and that was largely down to the heroics of Omlin. The Swiss stopper made a total of ten saves and also saved a penalty to ensure Montpellier kept onto their lead and eventually won 2-0.

Luke Ayling – RB - OVR 76>>81
Finding themselves two goals down to Wolves at halftime it looked like yet another defeat for Leeds who continue to plummet down the table. A red card in the early stages of the second half for Jimenez was the turning point and Leeds managed to take all three points in dramatic fashion, scoring in both the 63rd and 66th minutes before a last-minute goal from Ayling. This could be the result that Leeds looks back at as their savior from relegation and Ayling was the man to secure it which could even justify a hero. One way or another I fully expect him to feature on Wednesday.

Niklas Stark – CDM - OVR 76>>84
There were very limited options for the featured player this week and thus Stark stands out as the best one by quite some distance. The German defender was named MOTM for his goal and clean sheet during Herth Berlin’s shock 3-0 win over 6th placed Hoffenheim. Stark also played a more “advanced” role with Hertha deploying him as a CDM rather than the usual CB.

Ismael Bennacer – CM - OVR 80>>83
AC Milan made it three wins on the bounce as they continue to top the Serie A title race. EA has given a few cheap IF’s to the Italian outlet in recent weeks and thus I am showing a slight bias towards them going forward. That being said Bennacer is still a strong contender for this week's side after being awarded MOTM and a 7.5 match rating for scoring the only goal of the game during their 1-0 win over Cagliari.

Serhou Guirassy – ST - OVR 77>>81
It was yet another convincing result for the entertaining to watch Stade Rennais and once again they dominated the L’equipe TOTW as a result. A 6-1 win over Metz this weekend made it four on the bounce for Rennes, who is now 3rd in the table! Guirassy seems the most likely for an IF after scoring three but there are several others who narrowly miss out.

Georgios Giakoumakis – ST - OVR 74>>83
Although Giakoumakis featured just four weeks ago with it being late into the game now I feel as though that will be enough of a gap for EA to allow him to be included again. The Greek has been on great form for Celtic recently and added another hat trick this weekend during their 4-0 win over Ross County.

Odion Ighalo – ST - OVR 75>>81
Ighalo, somewhat surprisingly become a fan favourite while playing at Manchester United with his performances giving hope to united fans during what was a rough period for them. Despite many calling for him to stay the Nigerian opted to travel to Saudi Arabia to play his football. Now playing for Al-Hilal he continues to score goals, this weekend saw three of them, helping Al-Hilal towards a 4-2 home win.

Reserves

Laxmikant Kattimani – GK - OVR 56>>66
The Indian league has received a fair amount of love from EA over recent months and it concluded with a playoff final this weekend which went all the way to penalties. Often players get included as hero cards for these types of matches and I expect this to be no different. Kattimani is the only real option after he saved three of four penalties in the shootout to ensure his side lifted the trophy.

Brandon Thomas-Asante – RW - OVR 63>>73
There have been very few silver IF’s to get excited about this season but Asante is definitely one that falls into that category. The pacey winger was influential for Salford this weekend, scoring three times during their convincing 5-1 home win over Scunthorpe

Emre Mor – RM - OVR 72>>79
Emre Mor’s career has perhaps not gone as well as some anticipated during his early days but he is still playing at a respectable level back in his home country of Turkey. This weekend he showed just what he is capable of, scoring three times from RM to help his side to a 3-0 home win.

Paulinho – ST - OVR 73>>79
We saw the inclusion of Kalulu last week which was simply a big 5 league bias, with many better alternatives being available and thus I simply have to take the punt on Paulinho this week. The Brazilian was named POTW in Germany after scoring two late goals from the bench to secure a 2-0 win for Leverkusen. I am unsure of his position however it looks to be either LM or ST.

Jesus Ferreira – ST - OVR 69>>77
Although Jesus Ferreira would actually make an insane silver star the likelihood is that he will receive a regular gold IF with the silver star often being random this year alongside the fact that he simply deserves to be a part of the initial squad. The FC Dallas striker was involved in all four of their goals, scoring three of his own alongside assisting the other during a 4-1 win over Portland Timbers.
