TOTW 9 Predictions FIFA 23

The final TOTW before the World Cup break is quite underwhelming. Although there are several decent players, it lacks a huge name to cdream about packing from champs. Headlining we have Robertson, Odegaard and a featured Nuno Mendes.

Koen Casteels - GK - 84 > 86 OVR

6 Saves and clean sheet  /  2-0 win against Dortmund  /  2 Kicker Rating

Casteels played huge roles in both Wolfsburg’s wins this week with a combined 13 saves across  two matches, helping them to take home all six points. It was the Belgians performance against Dortmund which stood out though, claiming him a spot in Kickers TOTW.

Andrew Robertson - LB - 87 > 88 OVR

Two assists /  3-1 win against Southampton  /  9 Sky Rating

There will be question marks around the exclusion of Darwin Nunez and while he could well feature for me Robertson is the better shout after being named MOTM for his two assists. Sorry OTW owners.

Nuno Mendes - LB - 80 > 85 OVR

Two assists and clean sheet  /  5-0 win against Auxerre  /  8 L’equipe Rating

The defenders were ridiculously competitive this week but after Mendes claimed the highest L’equipe rating of the week his spot in the side is nailed on. With the Portuguese defender being just 80 rated I can see the featured going his way.

Federico Dimarco - LWB - 78 > 82 OVR

Two goals,  6-1 win against Bologna  /  8 Gazzetta Rating

A convincing display midweek from Inter saw them demolish Bologna 6-1. The IF choice was made easy after Dimarco scored twice from a wingback position while claiming MOTM from Gazzetta for doing so.

Otavio - RM - 82 > 84 OVR

Two assists  /  4-1 win against Boavista  /  8 Abola Rating

Otavio was the last position I selected, with players like Orisc and Gregoritsch narrowly missing out. In the end the Brazilian’s eight from Abola, which made him player of the week, was enough to secure him a spot in my prediction.

Merino - CM - 83 > 85 OVR

Two assists  /  2-1 win against Sevilla  /  8.6 Match Rating

With Merino’s rulebreaker card giving him a much-needed boost on pace this IF will be practically unused. After providing the assist on both Sociedad goals the IF is inevitable though.

Martin Odegaard - CAM - 84 > 86 OVR

Two goals  /  2-0 win against Wolves  /  8 Sky Rating

With City dropping points against Brentford, it gave Arsenal the chance to take a real grip on the division going into the World Cup break. It was a chance they took, winning 2-0 with Odegaard scoring both those goals.

Jamal Musiala - CAM - 81 > 86 OVR

Two assists  /  2-0 win against Schalke  /  2 Kicker Rating

With two wins for Munich this week and eight goals combined an IF for the German giants seems likely. Gnabry scored three but with the confirmed PTG is ruled out. The decision was then made difficult until their second match from which Musiala provided two assists.

Jonas Hofmann - RM - 81 > 86 OVR

One goal, two assists  /  4-2 win against Dortmund  /  1 Kicker Rating

Now that we have a rough idea of the gap needed for a second IF it's safe to say that Hofmann can be included. With three goal contributions in an impressive win over Dortmund, the German is an easy choice.

Ivan Toney - ST - 77 > 81 OVR

Two goals  /  2-1 win against Man City  /  9 Sky Rating

With the decision being made to leave Toney at home for the world cup, the Brentford striker responded in the best way possible. Scoring twice against Manchester City to secure a 2-1 win.

Moise Kean - ST - 78 > 82 OVR

Two goals  /  3-0 win against Lazio  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

After a slow start to the season Juventus have picked up some real form with their sixth consecutive domestic win coming this weekend. Kean scored two of their three goals and with a lack of offensive options should easily make this side.

Substitutes

Geronimo Rulli - GK - 82 > 84 OVR

6 Saves and clean sheet  /  1-0 win against Espanyol  /  8.5 Whoscored Rating

Villarreal avoided making it three consecutive losses with a narrow 1-0 win over Espanyol. When results are not going your way you often need someone to stand out and Rulli was that player in this case. The Argentine made several saves to deny the hosts.

Tiago Djalo - CB - 75 > 81 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  1-0 win against Angers /  7 L’equipe Rating

The substitute defender position could go to several players but with Ligue 1 offering limited options, Djalo looks to be the best bet to me. The Lille defender scored the only goal of the game and helped keep the clean sheet in tact with Lille going down to 10 in the 74th minute.

Eljif Elmas - LW - 78 > 82 OVR

One goal, one assist  /  3-2 win against Udinese  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

Napoli have several options for TOTW among their two wins this week with the highest profile one being Lozano. With the Mexican having a leaked PTG card we have to look elsewhere though. Elmas is seemingly the next best option after being involved in two of their goals during their second fixture of the week.

Kerem Akturkoglu - LM - 75 > 81 OVR

Hat trick  /  7-0 win against Basaksehir  /  10 Whoscored Rating

For the second consecutive week, Galatasaray look set to receive an IF. Akturkoglu lead the way as they shocked Basaksehir, scoring seven without reply.

Orkun Kokcu - CDM - 79 > 82 OVR

Two goals  /  5-1 win against Excelsior  /  8.5 VI Rating

Kokcu has been snubbed on numerous occasions this FIFA but should finally be in line for an IF after being named POTW with an 8.5 match rating. His two goals saw Feyenoord take a three-point lead in the Eredivisie title race.

Ondrej Lingr - CAM - 75 > 81 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  4-0 win against Zlin  /  MOTM

I missed out on a Slavia Prague player recently under very similar circumstances. Not wanting to make the same mistake twice I have included Lingr for his three-goal contributions on Sunday.

Danny Ings - ST - 79 > 82 OVR

Two goals  /  2-1 win against Brighton  /  8 Sky Rating

Brighton have been a dangerous side this season but Villa have picked up some real momentum, making this clash a tough one for both sides. Villa came out on top thanks to an Ings brace, a result which takes them up to 12th.

Reserves

Lukas Gortler (CM)  - Two goals, two assists - St Gallen 7 - Sion 2

Zian Flemming (CAM) - Hat trick - Preston 2 - Millwall 4

Aiyegun Tosin (ST) - Hat trick - Zurich 4 - Servette 1

Georges Mikautadze (ST) - Hat trick - Paris FC 1 - Metz 4

Zinho Gano (ST) - Two goals, two assists - Waregem 5 - Eupen 5
