EA Sports FC news is right around the corner and in the lead up to the new game we’re taking a look at who we think will be the best players. We round off our back line predictions with left backs. Let us know if there are any changes you’d make!
#15 - Luke Shaw - 81 OVR - Manchester United
FIFA 23 Rating - 80
Shawberto Carlos has arguably been one of the most consistent left backs in the Premier League over the past 5 years and impressed once again this season.
Despite crashing out of Europe, Shaw and Manchester United did take home the Carabao Cup this season and secured another year of Champions League football.
#14 - Robin Gosens - 82 OVR - Inter Milan
FIFA 23 Rating - 82
If it wasn’t for Ederson’s point blank save in the Champions League final then Robin Gosens would have assisted a very late equaliser, but it wasn’t to be for the Italians.
Gosens had a decent season and chipped in with 4 goals but nothing too special so we’ve kept him at 82.
#13 - Nuno Mendes - 82 OVR - Paris Saint Germain
FIFA 23 Rating - 80
Nuno unfortunately missed part of the season through injury but when he did play, he really impressed.
He popped up with either a goal or assist every three games and kept 11 clean sheets across the season.
Very deserving of a +2 upgrade.
#12 - Angelino - 82 OVR - RB Leipzig
FIFA 23 Rating - 83
Angelino will return to RB Leipzig after a somewhat successful season at Hoffenheim.
The Spaniard impressed going forward, assisting 12 goals in all competitions and scoring 1 but the other side of the pitch was an issue.
He only kept 5 clean sheets across the entire season and played in every single game.
We’d love to upgrade him for those impressive attacking returns but he did fall off in terms of defending, we’ve dropped him to an 82.
#11 - Oleksandr Zinchenko - 82 OVR - Arsenal
FIFA 23 Rating - 79
From one former Manchester City left back to another but luckily this time it’s an upgrade.
Zinchenko had a very successful time in Manchester and thought another PL title would be his after moving to North London but the Gunners missed out by the finest of margins at the end of the season.
They may not have won the league but Zinchenko had a very good season and was one of Arsenal’s best players which is why we’ve upped him from 79 to 82.
#10 - Jose Gaya - 83 OVR - Valencia
FIFA 23 Rating - 82
Valencia had a shocking season and survived by only 2 points but captain Jose Gaya was their stand out man once again.
The Spaniard contributed to nearly 10% of the team's goals from the left back position and was arguably one of the reasons they stayed up.
He also earned himself a spot in La Liga Team of The Season which we’ve predicted will earn him a +1
#9 - Alex Grimaldo - 83 OVR - Bayer Leverkusen
FIFA 23 Rating - 82
Grimaldo has impressed every year since joining Benfica from Barcelona and it’s finally time to move on. This season has been Grimaldo’s best by far and you can tell why he’s been poached by Leverkusen.
The Spaniard contributed 16 assists, scored 8 goals and kept 28 clean sheets across all competitions.
We’ve given him a very well deserved +1 for EA Sports FC.
#8 - Ferland Mendy - 83 - OVR - Real Madrid
FIFA 23 Rating - 83
Mendy spent the majority of the season injured and was replaced by fellow countryman Eduardo Camaivinga at left back.
Despite missing so many games, he didn’t put a foot wrong when he did feature so we can’t find the need to downgrade. We think he sticks at an 83 for next season.
#7 - Jordi Alba - 83 OVR - Inter Miami?
FIFA 23 Rating - 85
The hardest part about predicting Jordi Alba’s card was which club he’ll be playing for next year.
Alba left Barcelona after his contract at the end of June and is now currently exploring options, with a reunion with Messi in MLS.
#6 - Marcos Acuna - 84 OVR - Sevilla
FIFA 23 Rating - 85
We all love card collecting on FIFA but Marcos Acuna took it to a whole new level with Sevilla last season.
The Argentine not only picked up 12 yellow cards, but also 4 reds meaning he missed 5 games through suspension alone!
Sevilla may have won the Europa League but Acuna didn’t have a great season so we’ve chosen to drop his rating by 1.
#5 - Raphael Guerreiro - 84 OVR - Bayern Munich
FIFA 23 Rating - 82
Guerreiro left Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer after 7 years at the club.
There were many rumours as to where he would move and he finally settled on staying in Germany, with rivals Bayern Munich.
Dortmund came so close to taking home the Bundesliga trophy and Guerreiro was one of the reasons for that. He had a very impressive season so we’ve given him a +2 upgrade.
#4 - Alphonso Davies - 85 OVR - Bayern Munich
FIFA 23 Rating - 84
With Bayern Munich now signing another left back, Davies may finally get his wish and be given the opportunity to play left wing.
With his position most likely unknown until further into the season we’ve kept him at left back for at least one more year.
He might not like playing defence but certainly does a good job. Another great season for the Canadian which we think warrants an upgrade.
#3 - Theo Hernandez - 86 OVR - AC Milan
FIFA 23 Rating - 85
Theo Hernandez has had another great season in Milan and one that has seen him linked with several of Europe’s elite clubs.
He also reached the World Cup Final with France and was one of their best players throughout the tournament but unfortunately lost to Argentina.
A +1 for Theo is very well deserved but just not enough to see him break into the top 2.
#2 - Joao Cancelo - 87 OVR - Manchester City
FIFA 23 Rating - 88
Despite winning both the Premier League and Bundesliga, it was a season to forget for Joao Cancelo.
The Manchester City defender reportedly fell out with Pep Guardiola and wanted to leave. He had his eyes set on Tuchel’s Bayern Munich with the aim of winning the Champions League.
He had to watch on as his parent club sent him packing and left him without the treble.
#1 - Andrew Robertson - 87 OVR - Liverpool
FIFA 23 Rating - 87
Liverpool may not have had the best of seasons but that shouldn’t affect Robertson’s rating.
Just like Trent, we think Robertson has been one of Liverpool's better players this season but just not to the level to deserve an upgrade.
After a year away from the top we think he’s still the best left back in the world and that’s what we’ve predicted for EA Sports FC!
Did we miss anyone from the list, or did we get all 15 spot on? Let us know in the comments!
