The less said about Tottenham’s 22/23 season, the better. It was a season to forget for Spurs as they finished outside of the European spots and lost their captain Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. After years of defensive football under Conte, Jose and Nuno, Spurs look to finally have a different identity under Ange Postecoglou, already dismantling Manchetser United in his first match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Goalkeepers and Defenders
Guglielmo Vicario - 78 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 78
We’ve kept Vicario at 78 based on last season with Empoli but he’s already impressed in just 2 games at Spurs.
The Italian kept 7 clean sheets and conceded just over a goal a game in a poor Empoli side in 22/23 so no upgrade for now.
Christian Romero - 83 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 83
Romero kept just 7 clean sheets for Spurs last season and Spurs had the 6th worst defensive record in the league.
This would naturally warrant a downgrade but Romero did have a very impressive World Cup and won the tournament with Argentina, the reason we’ve kept him the same rating.
Eric Dier - 79 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 80
Our first downgrade of the defence is for former Sporting CP man, Eric Dier.
As already mentioned, Spurs had a shocking defensive record last year and Dier played in most of those matches. After conceding 63 goals in the PL he’s lucky it’s only a -1.
Ben Davies - 78 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 79
The same story applies here to Davies, you can’t be a part of one of the worst back lines in the country and expect anything but a downgrade.
Davies wasn’t horrible last season and played in multiple positions for Spurs but it’s a -1 for him too heading into FC 24.
Micky van de Ven - 75 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 69
The only Spurs defender to get an upgrade for FC 24 is Micky van de Ven and that’s because he didn’t play for Spurs last year.
The young Dutchman made the switch from Wolfsburg to North London this summer and has already impressed in his first couple of games.
Pedro Porro - 80 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 81
Once again it’s a defensive downgrade for Spurs, this time with Pedro Porro.
In just 15 Premier League matches for Tottenham he conceded 31 goals whilst on the pitch, so it’s no surprise he’s getting a downgrade.
Midfielders
Ivan Perisic - 82 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 84
Perisic was every FPL player's dream in the opening weeks of the season, bringing in multiple clean sheets and assists in the opening few games.
Unfortunately this tailed off as did Spurs’ season and despite being a LM, was part of a back 5 most of the time.
A -2 may seem a little too harsh and we’d be happy to be proven wrong as the season goes on!
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg - 81 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 83
Despite being amongst the goals last season it was a relatively disappointing season for Højbjerg.
Once again we’ve had to pull out a larger downgrade than we’d want purely because he claims responsibility for the defence.
Rodrigo Bentancur - 80 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 79
Bentancur might have sat most of the season out through injury but he was one of Tottenham's only bright sparks throughout the campaign.
He could only manage 18 PL matches but Spurs had a much better record with Rodrigo in the team.
Yves Bissouma - 79 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 81
The Mali midfielder missed a large chunk of the season through injury and could only make 10 starts in the league, with just over 1,000 minutes under his belt.
He wasn’t great last season and combined with a lack of minutes we’ve decided to drop Bissouma by 2.
James Maddison - 83 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 82
Just like van de Ven we’ve got an upgrade for someone who didn’t actually play for Spurs last season.
James Madisson had to leave Leicester after being relegated as his talent in the Championship would be wasted.
Had a very impressive season despite Leicester going down and looks to have settled in well at his new club.
Manor Solomon - 78 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 76
A +2 for Solomon after an impressive year with Fulham is more than deserved.
He missed the first half of the season with a knee problem but came back and won Fulham some very important points.
He may have only played 500 minutes last season but when he featured, he really did make the difference.
Attackers
Heung-Min Son - 87 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 89
We’ve decided to drop Son by 2 after a fairly disappointing season up top.
Off the back of multiple 20 goal seasons we expect much more from Sonny last year and he’ll certainly have to step up with the absence of Kane.
Just the 10 PL goals last year which warrants the downgrade.
Dejan Kulusevski - 80 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 81
Gimme, gimme, gimme a ginger from Sweden? More like gimme, gimme, gimme some goals this season.
Just two goals from Kulusevski last season is a poor return for the winger and we expect much more from him this year.
7 assists is a decent return but this number surely has to be higher when you’re playing with one of the best strikers in the world.
Richarlison - 80 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 81
1 Premier League goal for Richarlison. That’s all we need to say here.
