In their first full season under new owners Newcastle United defied all odds and finished fourth in the Premier League, securing Champions League football for the Magpies in 2023/24. They’ve added plenty of talent since the takeover and look to be an exciting team in FC 24. Here’s how we think they’ll be rated next season.
Goalkeepers and Defenders
Nick Pope - 84 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 81
We’ve decided to give Nick Pope a huge +3 upgrade in FC 24. The former Burnley man only conceded 32 goals in the Premier League and kept 14 clean sheets!
His only major error came as a red card excluded him from Newcastle’s first major cup final for over 20 years, aside from this Pope had an incredible season and we expect him to be rewarded next year.
Sven Botman - 82 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 80
The Dutch defender joined Newcastle last season and has been a rock at the centre of their defence ever since.
Botman started in 35 of Newcaslte’s PL matches last season as they finished in the top 4 after an incredible season. A +2 is more than deserved for Sven
Fabian Schar - 79 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 77
Another +2 upgrade at the back for The Magpies in the form of Fabian Schar.
The Swiss defender only missed two matches for Newcastle last season, both of these games ended in defeat.
He formed a strong partnership with Botman as Newcastle conceded just 33 goals, the best in the league.
Jamaal Lascelles - 77 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 75
It’s +2’s all around for Newcastle centre backs, with yet another predicted for Jamaal Lascelles.
He didn’t feature in as many games as he would have liked, but when he was called upon he performed. The only defeats he played in were against Manchester City and Liverpool.
Tino Livramento - 75 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 75
We’ve had no other option than to keep Tino Livramento at 75 overall. He unfortunately missed the majority of last season with an ACL injury and only played 13 minutes in each of the final 2 games.
He impressed with Southampton the year before and hopefully can find that form again with Newcastle.
Kieran Trippier - 85 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 84
Kieran Trippier has had an insane career over the last few years.
He scored in a World Cup semi final and gave us hope that football might actually come home, then went to Spain for a year to win La Liga and is now back in England, captaining Newcastle United in the Champions League.
One of Newcaslte’s best signings since the takeover and we’ve predicted a very deserving 85 overall for Tripps next season.
Midfielders
Sandro Tonali - 85 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 84
Tonali joins the Toon Army for the 2023/24 season which strengthens an already impressive Newcastle lineup.
The Italian is more than likely going to be playing a box to box role as opposed to DM but as that’s not 100% certain yet, we’ve kept him in his FIFA 23 position.
Tonali chipped in with 2 goals and an impressive 7 assists for AC Milan last season and formed a very strong partnership with Bennacer in the middle of the park.
Earned himself a big transfer to England and we think a +1 rating will come with that.
Bruno Guimarães - 84 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 81
Guimaraes has been an inspired signing on Tyneside with Newcastle fans loving him since the moment he joined.
The Brazilian partnered Joelinton in the middle of the park as they took Newcastle back to the Champions League.
A very impressive season and we’ve predicted a +3 heading into next season.
Joelinton - 81 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 75
We’ve predicted a whopping +6 for Joelinton in FC 24 and it’s truly deserved.
If you’d have told Newcastle fans that their £40m flop of a striker would turn into one of the league's best box-to-box midfielders, they’d think you’re having them on.
81 for Joelinton next year and he looks perfect for those starter teams.
Joe Willock - 78 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 75
Willock had a very impressive season for Newcaslte and we’ve rightly rewarded him with a +3 OVR
9 goal contributions for central midfield is a very good return, let’s just hope he can keep his place after the signing of Tonali.
Attackers
Alexander Isak - 82 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 80
With Kane now out of the Premier League, Alexander Isak is in our opinion, the second best striker in the league and we’d love to upgrade him by more than 2.
As these are predictions we can’t help but feel EA may not think quite like us and just give him the +2 after a 10 goal campaign.
Callum Wilson - 81 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 79
18 Premier League goals for Callum Wilson last season, this went a tiny bit under the radar due to the success of Erling Haaland but it’s an insane return.
A +2 would be more than justified but don’t be surprised if we see Wilson with at least an 83 next year!
Harvey Barnes - 79 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 80
We had to downgrade Barnes purely for the fact that Leicester were relegated and both him and the team just didn’t do enough.
He’s looked good for Newcastle so far this season so we wouldn’t be too shocked if this rating gets bumped up by a few special cards in FC 24.
Miguel Almiron - 79 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 78
There was about a 6 week period last season where Miguel Almiron was the best player in the league, no one could stop him.
Unfortunately the World Cup arrived and he just couldn’t find the same form when returning in January.
Anthony Gordon - 76 OVR
FIFA 23 Rating - 75
Anthony Gordon had more yellow cards to his name than goal contributions last season and for a €40m winger, that’s just not good enough.
We’ve upped him by 1 as he did have some decent performances but needs to get those goal numbers up to increase his rating any further.
