FC 24 Team of The Season Moments Jadon Sancho Player Review

Week Three of the Team of the Season grind and I have to hold my hands up on this one… I have 100% had some of the craziest luck since the start of TOTS.  Previous to this promo I might have had a case for the worst luck ever this year, having packed nothing tradeable of note, and generally getting nothing from the bigger promos.  But all of that changed in the blink of an eye with my Premier League TOTS rewards… As you can see the upgrade to VVD being the biggest addition, while first owner (untradeable) Min Son and Palmer were certainly welcome additions as well.

With my new look squad fully operational it was time to decide on a review candidate for this weekend's Bundesliga TOTS.  Tons of solid options but we decided to go with the Prodigal Son returned home, Jadon Sancho.  The United winger has certainly looked more at home this season in yellow and black… Most recently producing a fantastic performance in the first leg of the UCL Semi Final.  The ultimate question with this review was would we get United-Sancho or Dortmund-Sancho across the five match review.

The 4-3-2-1 is back and here to stay (or at least until a poor weekend causes me to rethink everything I know about the game) and Sancho slotted in perfectly as the right CF (RW basically) in my squad. The HUNTER Chemistry Style supplied the extra bit of Pace and Shooting required to give defenders headaches in the wide areas before providing the finishing touch in and around the box.

Sancho provided the threat from the wings all weekend long in the following squad:

Overall

Rating: 9.5/10

At the outset of this review the plan was simple… Utilize the Paced and Whipped Pass Plus of Sancho + the Aerial Plus of Boniface.  Together they would terrorize defenders and my Weekend League would have a happy ending.  However, it did not take long for two very clear issues to present themselves.  1.  The Whipped Pass Plus actually caused a bit of a headache and didn’t give Boniface the opportunity to really get up for headers.  2.  More importantly, Sancho turned out to be sooo much more than just a Pace and Crossing merchant… His own goal threat in and around the box leading to an impressive return for the Manchester-turned-Dortmund(again) man.

Main Statistics – Pace and Dribbling

Pace Rating: 10/10

Dribbling Rating: 10/10

Skills: ★★★★★

PlayStyles: Flair Plus, Technical, Quick Step, Relentless

There is currently something extremely broken about this card.  From the off Sancho was literally shot out of a cannon and continued to cause a nightmare for any defenders he came up against this weekend.  I can’t honestly believe that he does not have the Rapid PlayStyle based on how fast the 96 SPRINT SPEED felt after the HUNTER addition.  The 99 ACCELERATION & Quick Step on a Mostly Explosive AcceleRATE card was more predictable and again was a constant headache for my opponents wing backs to contend with.

Once you combine the explosive acceleration with the 96 AGILITY, 96 BALANCE & 97 DRIBBLING you are left with a card that feels about as silky as any I have used this year.  I can’t stress just how good the left stick dribbling felt across this review and that isn’t even discussing the 5 STAR SKILLS.  Again, there is something about cards with the FLAIR PlayStyle (and this time they’ve added a Plus) that just makes for a smooth operator in tight spaces on the ball.

Value/Coins

Value/Coins: 5/5

I honestly can’t remember the last review where the card finished on 3.0 goal contributions and that is with two early quits as well… If I am honest we didn’t quite expect such a massive drop at the outset of this review, but at this point the price tag is actually a joke and Spoiler Alert: I would have recommended this card at three times this price.

Good vs. Bad

Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5

The weapons in Sancho’s arsenal are plentiful and even nitpicking doesn’t produce much to complain about.

+ Simply looking at the Base Statistics for Sancho, I expected a bit of a Shooting issue overall… But that was dead wrong.  After the HUNTER application the 95 FINISHING was lethal, producing 8 goals in a variety of ways especially when utilizing the FINESSE SHOT PLUS.  More than anything the Pace and Dribbling allow you to create angles and get into areas that make it more difficult to miss than score, but with Chip Shot and Power Shot in his locker there are certainly options for Sancho finding the back of the net.

+ Even with all of the quality mentioned above it might have been the Passing that ultimately won me over with this card, which is no surprise considering Sancho has Passing statistics that would rival most top tier midfielders.  97 VISION &  95 SHORT PASSING with both Incisive Pass & Pinged Pass PlayStyles all operated efficiently in the middle of the pitch… And then you have the 90 LONG PASSING & 90 CROSSING with the Whipped Pass Plus in the wide areas… Sancho just about has it all and the 7 assists speaks to the complete player I experienced this weekend.

+ 92 STAMINA with Relentless on the wings is amazing… that is all.

The smallest complaint to end it off and then we move onto the closing words.

- Not even a complaint per se… it is more of an “if only” as Sancho’s 180cm | 5’11 frame didn’t hold anything back from his Dribbling… But could have been combined with a lot more than 55 STRENGTH to create a monster on the wing.  In the end it is extremely difficult to lay a hand on Sancho in the first place, let alone get a tackle in, but when defenders do get to him the ball is all but lost.

Closing Words

Cheap beast doesn’t feel like a good enough title for just how good this card performed during this review and ultimately won Sancho the starting job in my squad for the rest of this weekend.  It is insane that you can buy this card for 140k at the time of this writing and at the bare minimum will be a super sub for me moving forward for the remainder of the year.  What a card.

Hoping you are well.  Cheers for reading
