Ligue 1 TOTS vs 1st Ultimate Team Items!

After a weekend of ‘unintended’ rewards being handed out, you might have been able to get your hands on some of the most exclusive cards in the game, but do you know how they started out their Ultimate Team journey? It’s certainly a mixed bag of debuts in Ligue 1, from the Bundesliga to a debut this year… This is how the Ligue 1 TOTS looked in their first Ultimate Team appearance.

Kylian Mbappe - FIFA 17 (71>97)

Real ones know about Kylian Mbappe Lottin. His debut FIFA campaign came during his breakthrough season with Monaco and it didn’t take long for us all to be familiar with him. The streets won’t forget the 2016/17 Monaco team after they made the Champions League semi final, finally being knocked out by Juventus. 5 special cards for Mbappe in FIFA 17 including a purple YPOTY SBC!

Vitinha - FIFA 22 (67>96)

FIFA 22 was Vitinha’s first year in the game, but not his first professional season. He actually spent the season before on loan in the Premier League with Wolves. There was a £20m option to buy at the end of the season but Wolves declined… What could have been. He returned to Porto and impressed heavily, earning a TOTS card in his Ultimate Team debut which also resulted in a move to the French capital.

Ousmane Dembele - FIFA 17 (77>96)

If you played FIFA 17 then you know how good this Dembele card was. Having 5*5* on your first ever Ultimate Team item is some feat. There were plenty of special Dembele cards this year including a 91 Team of The Season. The following summer he earned his move to Barcelona where he’d link up with Messi, Suarez, Iniesta and more before coming back to France this season.

Warren Zaire-Emery - FC 24 (74>95)

We can’t really go that far back for Zaire-Emery as his first Ultimate Team item only entered packs about 8 months ago! 74 to a 95 Team of The Season in one year, pretty impressive! He’s helped PSG to yet another Ligue 1 title and has even earned his first France call up during that time, scoring on his debut.

Gianluigi Donnarumma - FIFA 17 (76>95)

This is Donnarumma’s 8th appearance in Ultimate Team at just 25 years old. The Italian was starting for AC Milan at 16 years old and for Italy at just 17! The Italian helped his country win Euro 2020/21 before making the switch to PSG following his Player of The Tournament win.

Jonathan David - FIFA 19 (66>94)

Jonathan David comes in as the lowest rated in the list, starting off with a 66 non-rare. During his time at Lille he’s been responsible for 2 of the greatest dynamic images in Ultimate Team history, with both his TOTS and Futties item. He started off his Ultimate Team journey whilst in Belgium with KAA Gent and would spend another year there moving to Ligue 1 for €30m, making him the most expensive Canadian footballer to date.

Alexandre Lacazette - FIFA 12 (68>93)

It’s about time we went back to the early, early years of Ultimate Team. not much has changed with Lacazette aside from the card. He finds himself back at Lyon 12 years later just this time 15 ratings higher. He did spend 5 years away from Lyon in North London with Arsenal but made the move back in 2022 where he cemented himself as the 2nd top scorer in the club's history.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang - FIFA 10 (72>93)

From one former Arsenal striker to another. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang left the club at the same time as Lacazette but found it hard to settle, spending time with Chelsea, Barcelona and now Marseille. He’s found his feet again back in Ligue 1 and looks to be back in the goalscoring form of his Dortmund and early Arsenal days.

Dante - FIFA 10 (78>90)

Another FIFA 10 entry and this time for Dante, who 14 years ago was playing in the Bundesliga for Borussia Monchengladbach. He’d go on to spend another 6 years in the Bundesliga with both Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich before settling in Nice in 2016. He won every trophy possible in Germany including a Champions League but is yet to win anything with Nice… Could that come next season?

Marquinhos - FIFA 13 (68>95)

Marquinhos didn’t actually make the Team of The Season but we did want to include his Moments card in this list. His first Ultimate Team card is his only non-PSG card in history. He spent a year in Rome before making the move to Paris in 2013 where he became a club legend becoming their highest appearance maker ever and winning the most Ligue 1 titles with the club.
