I have used multiple meta goalkeepers this FIFA. You name it, I tried it (or at least played against it :)). I have used Neuer, which I hated and could not stand. He was just not catching simple shots and I sold him after few games. I have used Alisson, Lloris and some others. However, I was using gold Donnaruma for longest amount of time. nearly 200 games. For me he was simple the best goalie I have used so far. Tall, incredible reach and solid reflexes, are things that this goalkeeper offers. There are three things, which I love about this goalkeeper and that I did not feel with any other goalie. He catches most of the corner shots, catches high power shots and catches shots that are easy goals. He has that clutch factor, when you think your opponent is going to score a goal in 1v1 situation and Donnaruma comes out of nowhere and catches it. He saved my buttocks so many times, I cannot count it.
Now the most important question. Is this card worth over 100k price difference for the upgrade he gets ? First of all, lets just say that the upgrade is quite nice with multiple +2 and some +1 stats upgrades. In all honesty, this upgraded version felt little better than the gold one. He felt quicker and more solid on high power shots. Just tiny differences from time to time. Or that the ball was not slipping out of his hands so much. The positioning was quite nice as well. So in my opinion, there absolutely are some differences. However, I would not say that it is enough to pay 100k more over the gold version. The gold version is simply just enough, even in this stage of the game and the right move would be to wait for some more crazy upgrade or for some other goalie that might be better than Donnaruma. I still loved him and my suggestion would be to buy him and play him if you have some spare coins or if you are millionaire in FUT :)
Really amazing goalkeeper, nothing that I did not like or did not enjoy about him. Simply GOD tier (in this stage of the game).
Hi guys! This is my first ever review so please tell me what you think.
First off I packed donnaruma from an 83+pp the minute they came out. I play him on 10 chem with a back four of Mendy, kimpembe, Marquinhos and Hakimi so fairly solid defence. I am only a casual div 6 player so he might feel different to other people in other devisions but here’s my opinion: he’s bang average.
(Most of the time) he’s good at keeping the ball out of the net in a one off shot. But in a pressuring attack he falls apart due to his lack of consistency. I feel he never tries catching the ball and always tries pulling off wonder saves, which he ends up missing 40% of the time. Also anytime I try to rush him out it’s like he goes for a slide tackle rather than just driving the ball away so it’s an easy dink over the top for the attacker.
In some games he’s world class, in which he practically wins the game for me, but In most of the rest he is a let down on counter attacks and constant fire shots.
6”6 so fairly tall
Fairly good with one of shots
Can catch balls from crosses easily enough
Very inconsistent
Goes for worldies, but ends up missing them have the time when it’s really a simple catch
When using gk rush ducks under for a slide tackle rather than just clearing
Genuinely the worst goalkeeper I have ever used. Not sure whether his card is glitched or what but he literally lets in every shot from any angle. I bought him on release day to try him out for weekend league as I was previously using Navas (who imo is actually a really solid keeper). Every single game, any opportunity for the opposition to shoot, with weakfoot/defenders/anyone, it would just fly past him, some games the opponent realised after a few shots how bad he was and would start pinging white-timed longshots from anywhere. Do not waste your money on this keeper unless you want to concede and cry.
Tradeable - so you can sell him as soon as you get him. Unless you pack him untradeable then well at least you can discard him.
Positioning - gets lobbed by finesse shots, chip shots from pretty much anywhere. Has a mind of his own sometimes likes to wander to either post leaving the goal pretty much open.
Handling - didn't get to test this in weekend league because he didn't save anything.
Diving - doesn't dive, he does this thing where the player model falls to his side but doesn't actually dive.
Reflexes - dead people have better reflexes
Kicking - Overall distribution was actually good and accurate. Rarely happened (relying on the opponent to miss), but when it did it was nice.
Speed - Navas and Lloris feel faster, doesn't make a difference whether he felt fast or slow because he won't make the save anyway.
