With this being the side many players will see alongside the official release of the game I would expect several big players to make the side. That is exactly what we have with the likes of Hakimi, Cancelo, Son and Kane all making the TOTW 2 Prediction!
Pietro Terracciano - GK - 79 > 82 OVR
Eight saves and clean sheet / Fiorentina 2 - Udinese 0 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
It would have been easy for me to ignore Serie A entirely this week with so many low-scoring games and ratings from the division. I feel that one or two will end up making EA’s side though and so I have included Terracciano. Keepers were also difficult so after making eight saves to keep his clean sheet the Italian is one of the best keeper options.
Joao Cancelo - RB - 86 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / Barcelona 3 - Celta Vigo 2 / 8.9 Whoscored Rating
With Celta Vigo 2-0 up in the 80th minute it looked like a shock victory was on the way. A late resurgence from Barcelona saw them score in the 81st, 85th and 89th minute to turn the game around. Cancelo played a huge role in the comeback, scoring once and assisting another.
Achraf Hakimi - RB - 84 > 85 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / PSG 4 - Marseille 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
We could be in line for one of the best defensive trio’s in TOTW memory should all three predicted players make it. There will be shouts for Ramos who came off the bench to score twice but Hakimi appears to be the best candidate after he scored the opener and kept a clean sheet in a dominant PSG win.
Kieran Trippier - RB - 85 > 86 OVR
Three assists and clean sheet / Sheffield United 0 - Newcastle 8 / 9 Sky Rating
It's only once or twice a season in the PL that we see a score like this, let alone away from home. Newcastle tore Sheffield United apart from the get-go. There are multiple options from Newcastle when it comes to TOTW but the best is Trippier who was a constant issue down the right flank and provided three assists.
Anderson Talisca - RM - 81 > 84 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Al-Nassr 4 - Al-Ahli 3 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
An enthralling seven-goal thriller occurred between two of Saudi Arabia’s big hitters. While Ronaldo does stand a chance of making this side it’s Talisca who I feel gets the nod. There are many options from this division for TOTW 2 but I expect Al-Nassr to feature one way or another.
Exequiel Palacios - CM - 80 > 83 OVR
Two assists / Leverkusen 4 - Heidenheim 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Leverkusen were robbed of an IF last week but justice should be given on Wednesday with an IF Palacios. The Argentine caused problem after problem in the middle of the park and was awarded with a strong 1.5-kicker rating for his performance.
Saul - CM - 80 > 83 OVR
Two assists / Atletico Madrid 3 - Real Madrid 1 / 8.6 Whoscored Rating
Atletico came out on top of the Madrid Derby this weekend and with it being one of the higher-profile matches of the week I would expect an IF to occur. Saul looks to be a strong candidate after he was named MOTM for his two assists. Morata is also an option but I feel other strikers have done more.
Kaoru Mitoma - RM - 80 > 83 OVR
Brace / Bournemouth 1 - Brighton 3 / 9 Sky Rating
Brighton are beginning to rotate players for fun with European football being a factor. It almost cost them this week though, falling behind to Bournemouth. Mitoma was brought on for the second half and his quality was clear to see, scoring twice to help Brighton secure a 3-1 win.
Moises Simon -LM - 74 > 83 OVR
One goal, two assists / Nantes 5 - Lorient 3 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Nantes and Lorient played out an eight-goal thriller on Sunday with Nantes coming out on top 5-3. Although Simon enters the game as a silver I think he is a strong candidate for the featured player, which would make him a very usable addition to the game. He also received the joint highest L’equipe rating this week.
Heung Min Son - ST - 87 > 88 OVR
Two goals / Arsenal 2 - Tottenham 2 / 8 Sky Rating
The NLD never fails to impress and this was no different with both sides scoring twice with the drama to match. Son looks to be a strong candidate for TOTW after scoring both Tottenham goals via two Maddison assists.
Harry Kane - ST - 90 > 91 OVR
Three goals, two assists / Bayern 7 - Bochum 0 / 1 Kicker Rating
It didn't take Kane long to settle into life in Germany with the Englishman scoring for fun already. A routine win over Bochum this weekend saw five goal involvements from Kane himself. While there are also other Munich options with TOTW now being limited to 18 it's practically impossible to fit another in.
Substitutes
James Tarkowski - CB - 79 > 82 OVR
Goal and assist / Everton 3 - Brentford 1 / 8 Sky Rating
Everton proved this weekend that they still have it in them, despite a couple of seasons of struggling now. A superb 3-1 home win over Brentford will give them confidence though. Tarkowski was involved in two of those goals making him a strong candidate for TOTW 2.
Ever Banega - CM - 79 > 82 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Al-Shabab 4 - Al-Hazem 1 / 9.5 Sofascore Rating
Last season I think two Saudi IF’s was pushing it but now with the number of huge names there I could see it becoming normality. Kante and Wijnaldum narrowly miss out, opting for Banega instead and on paper that really should be the case with two goals and an assist from CM.
Amahl Pellegrino - LW - 75 > 81 OVR
Four goals / Bodo 4 - Valerenga 2 / 10 Sofascore Rating
A lot of the lower leagues were ignored last week but this surely can’t be the case after Pellegrino scored all four of Bodo’s goals. Making him the only player to score four this weekend.
Juan Camilo Hernandez - CAM - 76 > 81 OVR
Hat trick / Columbus 3 - Chicago 0 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
We saw several hat tricks from low-rated golds ignored last week but there was an MLS addition and I expect that to be a recurring sequence with the big names playing in the division now. Hernandez seems to be an easy selection if so after scoring all three Columbus goals.
Aboubakary Koita - LW - 67 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Genk 3 - STVV 3 / 10 Sofascore Rating
I am not 100% on the positioning of Koita but looking at the heat map it seems to be down the left-hand side. The Belgian was crucial for his side this weekend, scoring all three of their goals to ensure they came away with something.
Josip Drmic - ST - 70 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Rudes 1 - Zagreb 5 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Although numerous hat tricks will miss out now I still expect the substitutes to be dominated by them. Drmic is another who scored three with Zagreb recording a 5-1 away win.
Morgan Whittaker - ST - 66 > 80 OVR
Hat trick / Plymouth 6 - Norwich 2 / 9 Sofascore Rating
Both Ipswich and Plymouth have impressed since being promoted last season but this is the most impressive result thus far with Plymouth demolishing Norwich on Saturday. The championship is a division liked by EA thus I expect Whittaker to get the nod over the likes of Cook and Rhodes who were the other ELL hat tricks.
