FC 26 Team of The Week Predictions!

With the web app just two days away now, we look forward to seeing who could be included in the opening Team of the Week for FC 26. While coins are often hard to come by in the early stages of the game, there are still several high-end players likely to make this side, with Van de Ven, Haaland, and Patri leading the way.

Andre Gomes - GK - 69 > 79 OVR

Seven saves, penalty save and clean sheet  /  Alverca 1 - Tondela 0  /  10 Sofascore Rating

The goalkeeper choice was not an easy one to make this week, with the majority of strong candidates being silver base cards. In terms of performance, Gomes is by far the best, having the game of his life against Tondela, preventing 3.12 xG to keep his clean sheet.

Marcos Llorente - RB - 84 > 86 OVR

One assist and clean sheet  /  Atletico Madrid 2 - Villarreal 0  /  7.8 Sofascore Rating

La Liga only had a couple of options this week, which leans well into the Llorente case. A popular player in the FIFA community, which helps EA’s opening promotion. The Spaniard provided an assist, starting the match at RB, as Atlético went on to beat Villarreal 2-0.

Maya Le Tissier - CB - 84 > 86 OVR

One goal, one assist  /  London City 1 - Man United 5  /  8.1 Sofascore Rating

There were a few candidates from United’s comfortable 5-1 away win this week, and with the WSL highly likely to be included, La Tissier stands out at the back, with two attacking contributions to her name in a week with limited defensive options.

Micky Van De Ven - CB - 82 > 84 OVR

One goal, clean sheet  /  West Ham 0 - Tottenham 3  /  8 Sky Rating

Both Begvall and Van de Ven made their case for an IF this week, but with a highly congested midfield and a lackluster defence, it’s the Dutchman who likely gets the nod from EA, especially as his card brings a lot of hype. Van de Ven scored the final Spurs goal, rounding off an impressive win for them.

Grimaldo - LM - 84 > 86 OVR

Two goals  /  Bayer Leverkusen 3 - Frankfurt 1  /  1 Kicker Rating

Grimaldo scored two sublime free kicks this weekend, spearheading Leverkusen to a 3-1 home win over Frankfurt despite finding themselves down to nine men for periods of the second half. Recent decisions by EA in regard to his position would likely sway towards LM.

Martin Zubimendi - CM - 83 > 85 OVR

Two goals  /  Arsenal 3 - Nottingham Forest 0  /  9 Sky Rating

There has been a lot of drama surrounding Forest recently with the departure of Nuno and Ange taking charge. Arsenal made sure the former Tottenham boss left empty-handed from his first game in charge with a convincing 3-0 win. Zubimendi was one of Arsenal's big signings this summer, and his two goals on Saturday now mean everyone is fully aware of what he can do.

Patri Guijarro - CM - 89 > 90 OVR

Two assists  /  Barcelona 4 - Logrono 0  /  10 Sofascore Rating

Barcelona picked up a ridiculous number of IFs last year, and although that was partially due to their domination, a preference was clear to see. A comfortable 4-0 win on Friday offered a couple of candidates to continue that IF dominance into the new edition of the game. Bonmati scored twice, while Patri provided two assists. With the latter claiming MOTM, it makes sense to opt for her

Bradley Barcola - LW - 84 > 86 OVR

Two goals  /  PSG 2 - Lens 0  /  8 L’equipe Rating

Barcola was named Player of the Week in Ligue 1 after scoring both PSG goals during their 2-0 win. While Vitinha assisted both those goals, the additional rating in L’Équipe means Barcola is highly likely to be the included player here.

Kenan Yildiz - CAM - 79 > 85 OVR

One goal, one assist  /  Juventus 4 - Inter 3  /  8 Gazzetta Rating

In what was probably the game of the weekend Juventus recorded a fiercely contested 4-3 home win over Inter Milan. There were several options for the IF and while none are guaranteed I find it hard to see a scenario where no Juventus player makes it and for that reason I am forcing Yildiz into the side with a goal and an assist.

Harry Kane - ST - 89 > 90 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  Munich 5 - Hamburg 0  /  1.5 Kicker Rating

A couple of huge names complete the starting eleven, the first of which is Harry Kane. The Englishman scored twice and assisted another as Bayern Munich dominated Hamburg, scoring five without reply.

Erling Haaland - ST - 90 > 91 OVR

Two goals  /  Man City 3 - Man United 0  /  9 Sky Rating

With the Manchester Derby coinciding with the opening TOTW for FC 26, it was always likely we would see a Manchester IF in the opening promotion. Haaland looks set to be that player, allowing for some big early promotion for EA. The Norwegian continued his goalscoring form, scoring two of those three for City.

Substitutes

Nayef Aguerd - CB - 81 > 84 OVR

One goal, clean sheet  /  Marseille 4 - Lorient 0  /  7 L’equipe Rating

Marseille recorded a comfortable 4-0 home win over Lorient, and with limited Ligue 1 options, it’s likely that one of their defenders will be included. Both Aguerd and Pavard scored in the match and both ended up with a 7 from L’Équipe. I am leaning towards Aguerd, with different sources favouring him.

Thomas Muller - CAM - 80 > 83 OVR

Three goals, one assist  /  Vancouver 7 - Philadelphia 0  /  9.6 Sofascore Rating

It seems extremely strange to associate Müller with any club other than Bayern Munich, but the German has made the switch to the MLS now and showed exactly why he has such a big reputation. Vancouver hammered Philadelphia, scoring seven without reply, with Müller being involved in four of those.

Jaden Philogene - LM - 75 > 79 OVR

Hat trick  /  Ipswich 5 - Sheffield United 0  /  10 Sofascore Rating

Philogene has had a fair share of criticism for his early performances this season in the Championship. He silenced those critics with a phenomenal hat-trick on Friday night as the Tractor Boys finally got their season underway

Musa Barrow - LW - 78 > 81 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  Al-Okhdood 2 - Al-Taawoun 3  /  9.7 Sofascore Rating

There were a couple of options from Saudi, but Barrow makes the strongest shout. With two goals and an assist, he helped Al-Taawoun battle their way to a 3-2 away win. With Barrow being 44 and having lots of pace, he could be a good opening card to get your hands on.

Charles De Ketelaere - CAM - 82 > 84 OVR

Two goals  /  Atalanta 4 - Lecce 1  /  10 Sofascore Rating

Atalanta opened their campaign with a duo of draws, and they managed to record their first win this weekend with a routine 4-1 result at home to Lecce. De Ketelaere stood out, scoring twice while claiming a perfect 10 from Sofascore.

Denis Bouanga - ST - 79 > 82 OVR

Hat trick  /  San Jose 2 - Los Angeles 4  /  9 Sofascore Rating

There were a lot of MLS candidates this week, and while I have included four of them, I would expect at least one to miss out. All four, including Bouanga, scored hat-tricks though, making them hard to exclude from the side.

Diego Rossi - ST - 75 > 80 OVR

Hat trick  /  Atlanta 4 - Columbus 5  /  9.1 Sofascore Rating

The MLS often results in a lot of goals, but this was quite something. Columbus clinched the three points from a nine-point thriller, with a Rossi hat-trick leading the way during a 5-4 away win.

Reserves

Robin Roefs - GK - 74 > 79 OVR

Six saves and clean sheet  /  Palace 0 - Sunderland 0  /  9 Sky Rating

Mika Godts - LW - 74 > 79 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  Ajax 3 - Zwolle 1  /  10 Sofascore Rating

Idan Toklomati - ST - 66 > 78 OVR

Hat trick  /  Charlotte 3 - Inter Miami 0  /  9.2 Sofascore Rating

Medina Desic - ST - 72 > 78 OVR

Hat trick  /  Nurnberg 1 - Werder 4  /  9.3 Sofascore Rating

Zakaria Eddahchouri - ST - 68 > 78 OVR

Hat trick  /  Mirandes 1 - Deportivo 5  /  10 Sofascore Rating
